price jacking

In reference to what you did

Just because you did what you had to do, doesn't make it right. I'm sure you were pissed when people price gouged you on those haidates, back when they were about 2 million more. The fact that you bought and sold all of those haidates to yourself to clear Price history is a very inappropriate way to deceit people. Your comments shouldnt be ones of "CRY MOAR" because honestly your reputation should matter to you... After seeing that you dont care about messing with prices, i personally will not send people to you for WW business like i have tried to in the past.

He's within his rights to try and "fix the price," though anyone with half a brain cell will see what he's doing and undercut him. If it works for him, well, he won't be the first person that got rich off of stupid people.

The light ore situation is a bit more irksome given that it indirectly drove up the price of light staves and Apollo's staves. I've been in the market for an Apollo's staff right when the light ore price went up, and before I knew it, the price soared on the HQ to well over double what it was before. (NQs went up to a good 150k a pop before finally dropping again.) Luckily, I was able to be patient and wait for an undercutter to come along and buy one for 1m. Still 300k more than it was before, but still within reasonable value in my opinion.

The question you need to ask yourself when prices are being jacked is, is it worth it still at the higher price? Or is it better to wait for prices to maybe return to normal, if they ever do? I doubt light ores will be as low as they were before, though I think they will drop considerably, especially once RMT figures out that they're being overvalued.

Well, actually, I'm fairly sure that those kinds of tactics are illegal in our own economy, which is one of the most free on the planet. Not buying a simple commodity and selling it for a higher price, of course, but aggressively "cornering" the market on something in every possible venue. We only really have one market ... the Auction House ... and this fellow's actions are much more akin to gorging yourself on stock holdings (to intentionally bloat the value), than they are like buying out a single supplier to sell at a markup.

At the very least, I think that gobbling up every possible source of a product should be discouraged as unethical in any formal business training you could receive. There's healthy competition, and then there's ruthless elimination of competition.

This isn't monopolizing, if thats what you're talking about. There are PLENTY of other crafters out there. That's been part of the problem, least it has been for Cloth. Too many crafters = surplus supply. If these sell too slow, and other crafters need to sell theirs quick, it will drop. He is not eliminating his competition in the slightest, to do that, he would have to UNDERCUT, not price jack. Price jacking encourages more to synth this.

Although this price up thing frustrates me, sellers can put the price they want in their items. It's the buyers that need to be flamed.

Eh, I kind of look at it as "changing the price tag". But your are right, any businessman should have a better response to his customers then "cry moar", lol.

Exactly, after seeing something like that, you can see that he obviously doesnt give a shit about the quality of his craft. He should care that people obviously see what he is doing and will try to go elsewhere, to one of the million other WWers. Hay guys just fyi Matchuu is a WW that doesnt enjoy fucking people over... OR so is cubswoo obviously. Go ask them if you need WW stuff

I'm sure NO WWer will make this haidate at all if the price is still 450k a piece. Why do u think there is 9 in AH a week ago and now 4 left. WWer r not makin this anymore price will go back up. This have happen b4 and the price went rite back up.

Hey I should flame the pplz that sellin Rainbow Thread for 8k a piece shit it only cost 4k to make and sell for double the price -.-

it IS retarded. Supply and Demand is nothing, its greed and greed only, lol. Its really odd how a 1-1.4m jump in price isnt retarded. The buyers are more to blame than the sellers, but any way you look at it, its stupid.

Think in the real world. What if your favorite drink which was once maybe $2 and jumped up tp $15. Its just simply retarded to cheat people out of their money, and even more retarded if you buy.

Both of these, the haidate and light ore, are obvious examples of 'price jacking'

lol no, the light ore thing makes sense. All of a sudden everyone wants one, no shit its gonna go up. Hell, if I was selling something that nobody wanted and then all of a sudden 500 people lined up for it, I'd raise the price too.

"Supply and demand is nothing"? Wtf? Supply and Demand runs the market. Things are priced based on how much they are wanted and how much of them you can find. As I already said, when that balance is disturbed in any way, the item will fluctuate in price and eventually find a new point to settle at. The same thing happens when stuff becomes easier to find, like Thf knife and the upper level gigas bracelets.

This haidate thing and the light ore thing are not similar AT ALL. The demand for the haidate didn't magically go up, someone just tried to change the price history by buying and selling himself. For the light ore, sellers raised the price and OTHER people bought them.

All you can do is quit whining and go garden yourself some light ores. Its not that hard. I forgot the stuff I used, but theres tons of stuff you can find on it online. Plant 10 pots, and within 3 weeks you should have yourself at least 1 (if not more) Light ores.

As for you machao. No one gives a fuck about what prices its selling for. The simple fact is that you tried to manipulate the prices that show up and you failed at it. You got flamed for it. Boo hoo. Move on already.

Edit: Oh lookie, the prices are already settling down a bit.

well, I guess more the way how he is doing it is flamed here... cause thats just unsocial... I mean when he wanna sell it for that price he shall put it at AH
but clearing AH history like that is just ... dont even find a word in english to express that behaviour

You guys are lame, I think what Machao is doing is just fine. And before you even try to compare to a real life economy like the american economy remember that it's a cut-throat capitalist economy where we fuck people over by making our products over seas for a fraction of the cost and jack the price up and set it. You know what fuck it, boycott wal-mart too while you are at it. Seriously, just because your ffxi pocketbook looks grim don't start blaming crafters. That's like blaming Donald Trump for making good investments. QCDN you're fired! lol It's like the lotto, you gotta be in it to win it. I make haidates periodically when the market is right, I synthed a kabuto -1 and traded for alky's when they were 25 mil. So yeah you have no idea what you're talking about Sharpe. So from my perspective I support his cause. Machao is right, no woodworker in their right mind would make a haidate they plan on ah'ing for a fraction of what they paid for the log. If you wanna bitch go fucking level your own woodworker and set the price back. Otherwise grow some hair on your cunt and quit being a little girl about it.

Well if u pplz r not happy with the price, go find a WWer and have them make it for it lol cost 700k or lvl ur WW to 100 and make it ur self.

So we got a crafter trying to minimize his losses on creating a item that people actually do want to buy... If the price is 700k to make, and you're selling at 600k, I think you're being to kind from the get go. I know when I needed one of these made, it was a nightmare trying to track down the materials being in the AH and finding a crafter to make it for me. The demand is there, I say go 700k accross the board. If people don't want to buy them for the cost of just making it, not taking into account the risk involved of a break, its their damn problem.

Because this is a fair economy and people will gladly pay so that crafters can break even, amirite?

There's tons of crafters out there willing to sell at a loss just to get anything back. Not to mention the RMT factor--they'll undercut their own mothers.

While I agree in principle that he should be able to make more money off of it, the reality is that the only way he will is if people are 1. stupid, or 2. impatient. And while again I think most people will agree with the principle of a crafter trying to get as much back as he can, his attitude of "lol fuck u if you don like wut im doin" isn't really helping his cause.

So then in this situation, when machao made that Cursed kabuto -1 and the Cursed haidate -1... We expect to see a 25mil thrown back at the community right?

Because if fair is fair.... then he should pay everyone on quetz then. I dont expect shit back when i NQ Slacks.

Who cares, AH is made to be everyones economy, love it and hate it at times. If anyone is so concerned about prices and wanting to set your own price then no one is stopping you with a bazaar. Its not like this economy isn't down enough already, raising the price on all items would actually be nice.

For what it's worth, most people are stupid and impatient and choose to remain so.

Do u blame me for the HQ too ??

I took my time and my gil to lvl WW to 100, If you want you can lvl ur own WW and see.

Jamal went 0/50+ on Haidate, if the price are 300k per a one he would lose 15mil
i dont see him coming to QCDN and cry about it. I fail 2 Togi in a roll and lost all D lumbers and breakin D logs. Where do i profit of if i dont HQ shit and NQ u lose 300k per 1 ??

Then bazaar the shit for what you want to sell it for. I just think it makes you to be a jackass trying to change the AH history. If you gotta do it, atleast be more covert about it. :P
