prices..

Good news!
I just walked into EB games after school, and RIGHT as I entered (I mean, the very moment I walked into the store) the guy behind the desk gets a call. I wait for about 3 minutes, and I'm told that the phone call he just got was about the Wii. He said that the Wii is be on pre-sale on THURSDAY, and they will get about 30 shipments in. Perhaps this was divine intervention, that I missed my bus for a reason today..?

Should be Friday, not Thursday lol I just got the news today. But they might be doing it early, which is perfectly fine just as long as they don't go over. The larger stores are getting 36, slowest stores are getting 12, and the ones in between are getting 24.

Well, I'm going to be camping out at my gamestop on thursday/friday.

Wii is releasing 6 mil right?

PS3 is 500,000...so wouldnt that put PS3 at 1-3 per store? lol....

Wii is 4million. More stores are getting 36 than 12. PS3 is 400,000, and are aiming at 8 per store, no matter what size. But that list of 8 is the maximum, and stores might only end up getting around 3-5.

Yay go Lanien Im glad your DRG godness comes in handy. Great friend now I can nag the crap out of my mom for x-mas present lol.

So when you say thursday or friday do you mean october 12th and 13th or a later friday?

Im pretty sure Lanien meant this Thursday/Friday. Im just glad I have this information before some other people.

EH I was close enough. But thats pretty damned sad...

At Gamespot we got the email in today. Friday the 13th is when we (which should be all EBs and GS's) start taking reserves. Seeing as how it took my store about one hour to go through all the PS3 reserves (we had 16 or 18 total) I highly, HIGHLY recommend you to be there as early as possible if you want to reserve one.

I believe Wii is 4 million worldwide with North America recieving a majority of the consoles. 1 Million units will be launched in NA and then other shipments being trickled till the end of the year.

Anyone living in NYC area, Nintendo World has been taking pre-orders for a few weeks now. They're getting around 2k initial shipment, no official word yet if they're opening at Midnight for launch. $50 minimum deposit for the system. They do reserves for Nintendo 1st Party games as well but not 3rd party. Zelda and Excite Truck are the only games you can reserve at the Nintendo World Store at the moment.

FYE has been taking pre-orders for PS 3 and Wii for roughly almost a year now. PS3 - isn't guaranteed you'll be getting one by the end of the year unless you started pre-ordering in March 06 :P . They have been taking Wii Pre-orders around the same time as well. Both require a $50 deposit if you're interested in pre-ordering there.

Suggestion:
If you're not in any hurry in getting accessories (extra remotes, controllers, games, etc.) I'd advise ordering from Amazon.com since they have free shipping and no tax in majority of the states.

FYE is going to be screwing a lot of customers.

Yea well they did give a warning though to the people planning to pre-order.

If they have been pre-ordering for a year now, their list is probably very lengthy. Chances are half the people on the list won't see one for another year. Through FYE that is. They should start planning on losing a lot of the $100 deposits.

Yea basically for the PS3 if you're not on the 1st 10 listed chances are you're not getting one till 2007. The Wii, I guess it's up to the company to decide on each stores allotment for fye. But with the surrounding hype for Wii compared to PS3 in the general population. There's a chance there aren't many pre-orders compared to PS3 in fye. Pre-ordering at a gamestop/ebgames/funcoland will be best chance at getting one. Fye should be like your backup in case you can't pre-order through gamestop chain.

I have a feeling Toys R Us in Times Square is going to have alot of Wii shipments. I remember them having stacks of Gamecube's when it first launched and sold out everywhere else around where I live. I heard rumors around that they're holding a Midnight Launch for the system as well. Being with recent news of them interested in the Wii and believe it'll be a hot item for the holiday season...a midnight launch is highly possible. They did it for Halo 2 and that was a game...so..

Yeah at least GS and EB are not selling more preorders then they are garunteed units in the initial shipment. I'm putting in my preorder for wii, extra controller set and zelda tomorrow when they open.

The employee I talked to said they were expecting to sell out of pre orders for wii definitely in the first hour or so and likely within minutes.

The Wii is popular. I did the Wii Pre-order just like I did the PS3 order and this time I couldn't get one. I was probably the 23 person and they only had 18 and I showed up at the EB right when they opened. When I did the same thing for the PS3 preorder I was 11th of 12. I attribute a lot of the difference to people not being able to preorder the PS3 and commiting to showing up early, a larger notification that Friday would be the preorder date, price, it's ability to work just as well on a standard television vs. hdtv, and the fact that it is mitherflicken Nintendo dog.

Luckily at launch there should be plenty of units at places like Miejer, Walmart, Costco, Fry's, and the like.

Got my Wii guaranteed. And I didn't even have to go wait on line. I love being me. lol
