On the origanal version of FFIV, they were called Pink Puffs.

In FFIV Advanced, they are princess flan. They always show up in groups of 11 and they never give me my pink tail.

Try as I might, I have never gotten the adaman Armor. I have played through this game about 50 times probably. More than once, I hae leveled all character to 99. Just today, I got lvl 99 With Edge, Rosa, Palom, Porum, and Cecil as I looked for Princess flan.

Any suggestions here?

I don't have any >.> I got the pink tail fairly quick, a couple of fights and it dropped, went through the tedious process and got me some adaman love.

I only know this to work on the PS1 version of FFIV, so it may not work on the Advance version. If you've ever fought those Alert monsters in certain dungeons they'll drop an Alert item. When you use it, it automatically starts a fight for you. In the Pink Puff room though, it guarantee's a fight with the Pink Puff, hopefully that will improve your chances of getting the drop. The only problem is that Alert's become unavailable after the fight within the Tower of Babel, so stock up on the item before you leave. Good luck, hopefully this works on the GBA version too.

I'm sorta dumb, but...I've never heard of these Pink Puff things, may I ask what that and the Rat Tail thing's all about? =/

Also, PRINNY DOOD~

The Rat Tail is found in the Town of summoned Monsters. You give it to this guy in the upper world and he gives you the adaman.

Then, on the moon, there is a super rare monster called "Pink Puff", or on FFIV advanced, which is the version I'm playing, they are called princess flan.

The drop the Pink tail. You take it back to the dude and he gives you the adaman Armor, (I'm guessing).

The chance of running into them is 1/64. The chance that they will actually drop something is 1/64. In the event they do drop something, there is 1/64th of a chance it will be a Pink Tail.

Ok, so I found a place to get Sirens toward the end of the game.

198 Sirens x5 Princess flans in a group=990

990 princess flans I have killed with out 1 single tail showing up.

I'm starting to think this is an urban legend.

Where did you get Sirens? That's where I am in the game, also. I just sorta left it hanging. I've never gotten the Adaman Armor in IV, either. I've always wanted it and IV Advanced is the best version of IV I've ever played so I want that damn armor. Please tell me where to get more Siren.

After you have handed Zeromus his ass, you go into the extra Dungeon (FFIV Advanced onry).

You come to a hall of remembrance that is a copy of the room where you fought all 4 fiends at once. Fight around in that room, it comes up in a group of 3 monsters. There is a Beamer, a Palace Guard, and a Searcher. You kill the beamer and the palace guard and steal from the searcher till your eyes pop out of your head. You can get as many as you have room for from 1 fight. I got 2 stacks of 99 in 1 fight. I used them all and still failed.

Why don't you just save it before you go in the Flan room and reset if your 2 stacks don't work out? Thanks for the tip, btw. I haven't explored the new dungeon too much. I just barely beat it with all the characters.

The plan is to go get 2 more stacks tommorow night while I sti here at work bored out of my mind.

Look at the bright side: beats the hell out of what I'm doing. Studying for an Ethics final and watching Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos. Yargh.

Because you get 55555 gil and 10000xp per flan. They always show up in a Group of 5 when you are calling them with a Siren.

There is a room in new dungeon where you can encounter them in a group of 11. But the siren doesn't call them there, it calls a party of Dust Moussex3 and Gold Flanx3.

Golden Flan gives you 40000gil and 42000xp(!) each. Rewards are the same for Dust Mousse

So if ya use it there, ya get 240000gil and 252000xp. Good stuff for those last few lvls.

Wow, I'm suprised you still haven't gotten it to drop, I knew the droprate was low but that's insane. It's not an urban legend though, the Adamant Armor is real, but who knows what they changed in the Advance version. Have you ever checked an FAQ to make sure it's still in that version?

I've looked at a couple. Older ones and newer ones. It's refered to a lot. I would assume it's in there. It Damn well better be :-p

I hate hunting NMs...

PRINNY, DOOD.

That's kindof scary, I've played thru FFIV three or four times on the SNES version, and twice in FF:Chronicles...and not until yesterday had I EVER heard of that Pink Puff/Adamant Armor thing...guess I'll hafto go find my PS1 memory card and try this out...

It's no urban legend. The first time I had ever heard of it was in some video game magazine or other (I forget which one) years and years and years ago ... it was when SNES was still cock of the walk, and FFIV was barely a couple of years old.

It was a long enough time ago that most Americans that had ever played it still genuinely believed the lie that it was FFII.

At any rate, they had confirmed it with Squaresoft themselves. If you used a game genie on the SNES version, certain codes would allow you to change any item in the game (say, a tent, for example) into any other item (like an Excalibur). In this way, you could pull the tail out of the game by force, or even the resulting armor itself. It exists, and in all iterations of the game: SNES, Wonderswan Color, Playstation, and Game Boy Advance.

I'm sure there's got to be a way to get the tail in the modern versions with Action Replay devices, if you're still not convinced.

The problem is, you see, that there's a 1/60 chance of it dropping, and a 1/60 chance of encountering the pink bastards in the first place. You're not alone when you say you've never gotten it: neither have I. I've only ever heard of a couple of people with the patience necessary to get it without cheating. I'd just give it up, if I were you. This isn't just a small challenge of rarity, like camping a particularly sought-after NM drop. That's an investment of several hours.

This is a crusade of extreme legend, requiring an investment of days and weeks. It's not worth it. o_o

Plus the armor itself isn't that insane. It has the highest DEF in the game, but not by a huge margin. I can see the dedication though, it's more like a trophy at that point, not to just make Cecil have like +5 to Defense. GL and take a picture if you finally manage to get it, I tried on the PS1 version for awhile but gave up also, I just whooped Zeromus with all the XP I earned there and called it quits.

Just so everyone knows, 1/60 chance of drop is bullshitx100.

I have now killed 574 of these bastards (GBA version keeps track of how many enemies you kill) and I still haven't gotten one.

For anyone who cares, this is pissing me off.

Sweet Jesus, your still at it?!? Good luck again, hopefully you'll get it by the new year..
