I'm not claiming serious endgame to be the end-all, be all.

Except that, by inference, you are. The truth of the matter is that HNMs are functionally irrelevant. They're an enormous time sink with minimal return if there is any competition, most of the drops that are not obtainable through other means are largely irrelevant these days, and they are, quite frankly, ridiculously easy compared to other things.

So it doesn't matter if Vanquished wants to bot their way to victory in Dragon's Aery.

Claims do not equal skill.

Actually Lec, my opinion of you hasn't changed and I DO think that you're a decent person in-game, and I swear I wasn't making my post as a direct attack against you. I have had great run-ins with you and I thought (and still think) we were on cool terms before you took off for bigger and better things on other servers (good on you for that though, seriously--if major HNM camping is someone's thing and they can get into a "super-shell" of the kind that recruits on BG and such, I think it's a great move). So yes I can confirm that Lec isn't half the asshole he seems to be on QCDN ;P

What I was trying to highlight in my post was the difference between "casual" endgamers and "serious" endgame. I think "casual" endgame is kinda a misnomer though. I feel like I do plenty of endgame; I spend my "date nights" on Friday and Saturday sunk into Dynamis and endgame events, I run Salvage up to 4 nights a week, Einherjar two nights a week, sky/sea farming, KS99s, Bahamuts, jailers, etc. etc. The nice thing about SE is that they've provided a HUGE spread of endgame activities, and have tried to sweeten the different options by putting some great gear attached (see: homam, which is still fantastic gear even years after Limbus was introduced).

The ONLY aspect of endgame I don't do is HNMs (okay, and Limbus, but I've paid my dues there in the past). And I've killed my share before after all. The ONLY aspect of endgame in which Vanquished can claim dominance over other shells is HNMs. If that gear has more easily obtainable alternatives, or is outright not worth the time for the effort expended, why bother? I agree with Lyall that for the most part, on THIS server, most of the shells have decided to back off and not waste time and energy competing with botters. If you're already spending a significant amount of time on endgame activities that AREN'T HNM, why spend 4 hours in the Aery competing against bot-claimers for gear that's honestly not worth that kind of ridiculous time commitment anymore? I bet someone waiting for their turn for e.body in a successful Einherjar shell will log LESS hours in actual work applied than someone camping against NASA.

So yeah, it's not that I'm calling you out as an asshole, Lec, just pointing out the huge disparities in our viewpoints regarding endgame. ;P I'm like physically allergic to camping HNMs, so I can't help but find it funny (or occasionally, as in Shaj's case on Friday night, infuriating) that some people think I'm less of a hardcore player for it. Trust me, my lack of a social life proves that I spend plenty of time grinding in this game!

The fuss was exactly about having it for the sake of having it - a feeble attempt to impress, which was only read as a display of Big Dick Syndrome. Back on topic: Doesn't anyone feel like the Dynamis shit is always the same bs every fucking time? Do we realllllllllly need an another debate on something like that? The scheduling is just a form of mutual respect between players, noone is bound to follow that either. "If it's yellow, it's fair game." It applies here too.

If I would have had that kind of issue in Reliance my bet would have been to enter the fucking zone with w/e people we had on hand and push to time extensions before they got a single chance to snipe it from us. I won't hide that it's a guilty pleasure to piss off jerks lol .

There wasn't so much a chance to try and trade first as it was an asshole running up unannounced and snagging the zone. If they HAD spent time gathering first, we could have blocked them. A group of about four or five showed up at once and they got in. Not a whole lot you can do about that, it'd be like saying that Abe Lincoln should have moved so he didn't get shot. Hard to defend against a blindside.

It was a ton of fun. We full-cleared Beauc of beastmen and all-in-all had a great time feeling each other out. I know there are a lot of shells out there that "low-man" dynamis or run with about 20-30 people and are successful, but it's always impressive to see what an /entire DD alliance/ does to a target once its selected.

Baw, lesson learned. You'll be ready for the "next time" they try to do the same thing. The only rule that apply when you face jackass like them is to be wiser than them because no GM will come down from the sky on a golden flying unicorn to save the day I can tell you that much for sure.

I'm a fair player that spend 15$ a month to play ffxi and I agree that we must share the resources through mutual agreements between players so everyone can enjoy the 15$ they spend every month for this. But don't you dare stepping on my 15$ because you think you deserve more because this game will turn into the far west and I won't mind stirring some shit for that.

It really sucks for you guys, they won the first battle but you know what to expect from them now. It's yours to do what to do in order to secure your stuff. We can't "be ready" for next time; you're suggesting that we be on guard for every single person who comes near the markings, and that's just reckless, not to mention would make it easy as fuck to further fuck with us. If I knew people were going to rush and break glass if I got within 50 feet, I'd troll the fuck out of them by showing up to whatever zone they were going to every night.

You can't be ready for the equivalent of a Dynamis-drive-by. We were gathering, then suddenly someone beelined for the markings and traded. There wasn't anything anyone could have done to stop that without looking like a paranoid fucker on a hairtrigger.

I understand wanting to fight back, but there's not a lot you can do. We beat them to a zone? They'll just go fuck up someone else's night. When the person you're trying to trump doesn't give a shit, you can't really get under their skin.

I left Sanctus for two huge reasons, the first one he knew. The second, was an underlying tone of conversations we had prior to and he knew I felt this way.

1: I slept during the day and playing at night and the time you all ran was mid-afternoon when I commonly slept. Me attending a run was 50/50 and I couldn't always wake up to be there.

2. I was tired of people wanting to rebuild shells. Sanctus went through multiple changes/leaders after being salvaged from the remnants of CrystalClear. It being after I got the Earring was a coincidence. I wanted to go somewhere that was already established and runs weren't a challenge to get people to go to. Same as why I left Quetz. More rebuilding shit I didn't want to deal with, aside the application I retracted from Absolution 2 days before it became Vanquished. I'm tired of building shit up from nothing, I want to be an addition to well-oiled machine and help keep the process running smoothly. So what if I got something and left a couple days later, I got dick between CrystalClear and the Sanctus incarnations I helped out with aside a freelot item here and there and I finally got something for all the time spent. Oh whoopdeedoo, I got my Valor Hands(wasn't it?) and didn't show up for the rest. (OH MAN I WANNA SAY THE Q-THING HERE SO BAD BUT I THINK WE'RE HAVING AN HONEST CONVERSATION!)
