So I've been on Promy-Vahzl for a year now, different things like my schedule, a static breaking, etc keeping me from really making a big push to get to sea. But just recently I joined a static put together by Sheladaris from my linkshell, United. But before we could get anything done, two members ditch us and move on ahead, so our plan goes down the crapper.

But today we decide that we're going to do it. We get help from 2 of our friends, and shout for the last two spaces. We get our anima, potions, etc, and head out.

To be perfectly honest, we did not have a strategy. I had never done it before, neither had Shel, Burne had beat it and Meathook and Sabiann had gotten to the last floor. But Clayburn had a map, and we knew where to go for the three mini-bosses. Clay led the way, and the rest of us followed. We did pretty good except for Meathook getting multiple Wanderer aggros on each floor.

By the second mini-boss, Meathook is criticizing us for letting him die and having no strategy. Others died, but he's the only one complaining. And it's nothing constructive like "You have to pay more attention to poison" or "We need a little more strategy, we're getting fucked". No it's things like:

Until then I hadn't really been actively leading, cause we pretty much knew what we were aiming for and we had all done promys before and we were doing ok. Not great. I admit I didn't do a lot of research into it, my bad, I didn't try to pretend like I knew everything. But that wasn't good enough. you can see the whole sad affair in full here in 3 easy installments.

One
Two
Three

It got so bad that we begged help from on of our linkshell members who could just come to the top. Because Meathook "couldn't be arsed with this shit". I kept asking him if he still wanted to finish, but he never gave me a straight answer. Just "I don't care now". I asked him one last time, he said he didn't care, so I kicked him, and replaced him with our ls ninja. It's the first time I've ever been mad enough to actually boot someone from a pty, in three years of playing this and dealing with assholes. And as a sweet cherry on top of the whole steaming pile, I get this /tell.

That made me laugh, at least. It was a fitting fucking end to Promys.

And we beat the boss, first try, no deaths. Tyvm.

Sorcha out.

Complete shitdick, I agree. That word is uncalled for in any situation, though, that may be because I'm a chick.

Promy-Vahzl is very, very easy, this dude had issues just because he died a few times. Not all your fault he didn't know how to do his job properly or avoid aggro after his first or second time. He especially didn't need that pathetic excuse of an attitude, unless he was having a bad day, but like Linh said in the /t, he could've easily helped out more to do some research himself.

Why does Meathook ring a bell for some reason...?

All the same, sorry to hear that happened...that's a pretty crappy reaction to a BCNM wipe, especially now that you don't even lose XP from the BCNMs.

Wasn't a BCNM fight. It was on the way to the BCNM, so he was losing xp, but he was being a dick about it, I would have replaced him too.

While i agree with most things that have been said so far in the thread, this is complete BS.

We all can do well to read up and do things for ourselves in this game, but we have leaders of things for a reason. I remember a Swift Belt run flame (Intensity's?) where he went AFK for hours on end and expected his members to know whats up. He got flammed pretty bad for it.

I fail to see how this is really so much different. The leader of this run admitted to not knowing what was going to happen (unless i misunderstood) which, to me, is on the same level as saying, "Brb have fun while i'm gone for hours."

The guy was a douche in the way that he delt with the situation, but i don't know anyone here that wouldn't be pissed given the situation and being in his shoes.

Ah, misread. For some reason I thought they meant they were fighting the 2nd of the NMs in Vahzl BC... ><

Thought I read somewhere that the capped areas no longer give XP loss at all, but I could be wrong on that....but I digress, the 2nd NM in the Vahzl climb was the one my group had trouble with as well. Wipes are rarely fun but sitting around and pouting over it is just silly.

It's all westyle's fault really.

I agree that in order to lead, you need to be prepared. So does Sorcha. She said as much.

I can understand Meathook being upset about it. I fail to understand how his behavior is at all acceptable.

What would have been acceptable was for him to offer suggestions. It would have also been acceptable for him to leave if the situation bothered him that much. It is not acceptable for him to treat the rest of the players the way he did.

Granted, he was not leading the event, but he did no research himself. It seems to me that he got a pick up group for a mission (which is never a good IMO - you don't know what you're getting into) and expected to just coast along. He brought nothing to the table but negativity.

FFS, it is a 50 capped event. If you died on the way up and got an R1, you would have lost around 300xp I think. Does it really take that long to make up 300xp? 900xp even?

Sorcha, props to you for handling the situation as you did. You remained positive and tried to keep everyone motivated. I also applaud your accountability; when we talked about it, you recognized you should have been better prepared, and I am confident you will be the next time you lead an event.

Lastly, I would like to add that the ninja from our ls who went up to replace Meathook realized when he got there he forgot his Katanas (lol <3). They still beat the BCNM on the first try with no deaths with that NIN on bare knuckles. I don't think the problem was with everyone else in the party... I think the problem was mostly Meathook's attitude and the effect it had on everyone else.

I did the original Promies with Meathead and it was the same scenario. Aggro where ever he went and he didn't know what the f was going on(he was along for the ride). He brought no meds, no animas, and pretty much leeched. Thankfully our Leader and a few others had done their homework and knew what was going on.

Grats on Promy-Vahl and good luck on getting to Sea.

Peace,
Shmed

P.S. If you need a blm/pld on your way to Sea hit me up. I'm on the airship fight and looking for a group.

WTF with "you are the leader you guide us, i don't need to do my own research lawl im leet you noob" crap?

IF anyone wants SEA, they better do their own research on their own time and be aware of the strategies involved etc.

I hate holding people hands during mission or quests, if you do no bother to spend time to do some research on your own time for cop then gtfo (Applies to all members during missions not just leader).

Why does Meathook ring a bell for some reason...?

his name was sendin up red flags in my mind to. sorch is one of those naturally kind people and to see her her that mad surprises me. that alone is enough for me to know how much of a jackass this guy is.

He joined our LS at Diabolos for our run through COP a couple months ago. We had one guy (LS leader) captain and lead us through vent and chat with specific instructions to make sure things went as smoothly as possible.

Meathooks stay with us was very turbulent and he rubbed many many members the wrong way. He was eventually left at promy-vhazl where he fell asleep waiting for the second run (since we had 9 people) and came back quite disgruntled.

There was a whole lot of drama that he caused in the LS during this time, i'll just say that after he left our road to Sea was much more bearable and less stressful.

lolmeathook, lolsheladaris

sorry to hear that sorch =/ alot of idiots out there, just gotta boot em, then ignore. Which...I guess is what you did, so i dont know why im posting.

Anyone else feeling arsed with this hassle lately?

That's lovable cockney gibberish the likes of which I haven't seen since the Dayz o' Blazn.

This fellow seems a tad more malicious, though.
