Propaganda. Refered to by most as tho it were no better than animal excriment. Why does it run so rampant? Why do both sides continue to carry the fight in a dishonest direction?

Better yet, why do the majority of us fall victim to the lies?

Do you people Honestly thing Al Gore claimed he invented the internet?
Do you really think it was a missle that hit the Pentagon and not a plane?
Do you think John McCain Really had an affair during the war that produced a asian child(that is still a child today)?
Do you really think John Kerry shot himself to get out of the war? 3 times?

There is so much bullshit we are fed from every source of media that we have available to us. Why do we believe any of it anymore? How do we know what to believe?

Here in this thread, I would like you to point out a piece of propaganda that has caught your eye recently. Tell us a bit about it. Where you found it, who paid for it, when it was released, what is the purpose, and most importantly, what makes it propaganda instead of news?

Remember kids: video games will turn you into ruthless killing machines bent on doing homosexual acts, eating babies, going to parties WITHOUT a supervising adult, wild drinking, and enjoying satanism!

More on subject, I think Hideo Kojima addressed this in MGS2. How much of the information we recieve has been filtered? How much of it has been tampered? It's impossible to know what is truth and what isn't. Plus, in the 'Age of Information' we live in rumors can be put as truth and accepted blindly. It's a scary time Trippyhippy. Scary indeed. ; ;

Well, I know he didn't invent the Internet, and I know he didn't mean to imply that he did. However, he did say the following:

Al Gore said:
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.

So to some this may seem as if he is taking credit for creating the Internet.

??? bad parents will do that, video games just give you a name to steal and put with your alter ego (as well as something for the adults to blame their own parental shortcomings on) i know aly's being sarcastic...but i'm not...heh

Fixed it.

Clearly, although Gore's phrasing was clumsy (and perhaps self-serving), he was not claiming that he "invented" the Internet (in the sense of having designed or implemented it), but that he was responsible, in an economic and legislative sense, for fostering the development the technology that we now know as the Internet. To claim that Gore was seriously trying to take credit for the "invention" of the Internet is, frankly, just silly political posturing that arose out of a close presidential campaign. Gore never used the word "invent," and the words "create" and "invent" have distinctly different meanings — the former is used in the sense of "to bring about" or "to bring into existence" while the latter is generally used to signify the first instance of someone's thinking up or implementing an idea. (To those who say the words "create" and "invent" mean exactly the same thing, we have to ask why, then, the media overwhelmingly and consistently cited Gore as having claimed he "invented" the Internet, even though he never used that word, and transcripts of what he actually said were readily available.)

If President Eisenhower had said in the mid-1960s that he, while President, "created" the Interstate Highway System, we would not have seen dozens and dozens of editorials lampooning him for claiming he "invented" the concept of highways or implying that he personally went out and dug ditches across the country to help build the roadway. Everyone would have understood that Ike meant he was a driving force behind the legislation that created the highway system, and this was the very same concept Al Gore was expressing about himself with his Internet statement.

I've told this to so many people, it almost seems like an auto-response.

Consider the audience.
Many Americans associate the word 'creating' with being the one who's doing it (i.e. the Creator). I am not disputing that he wasn't claiming to have invented the Internet, I am just saying that the majority of voters along the Bible belt and the farm states wouldn't care to look into intricate details about possible meanings if someone says they created something.

If I were on the opposing side of Gore I would have picked that statement up as well and made fun of it. You really can't ask for a better quote from your opponent.

I suppose you're right. I guess I misunderestimated it.

Well I agree with most of it but where was the tires or the luggage from the plane that hit the pentagon? did it enter a quantam warp that made it dissapear as soon as the plane hit at less than 300 feet in the air?

And what did really happen to the tapes from the gas station across the street that was faced directly at the pentagon?

Hmmm....maybe I made too good an argument for people to counter. Well we can look at the size of the plane and compare it to the size of the hole in the building. Or we can look at the pictures taken from above the pentagon on that day....and wonder why the books and computers and anything on the left side of the hole isn't even singed. Is that how you spell it? You know, no burn marks on any of it. Even though the "plane" "supposedly" had enough fuel to set a small city afire. {Hmmm} makes you wonder doesn't it.

I added an "o" to wnder. Because I'm drunk.

What would we have ended up with if an idiot with the last name of Bush was in office at the time?

It probably would have gotten axed because of no money from massive tax relief cuts. :bb:

Thank you Al Gore!!!!!

Hey now, George Bush SR was a damn fine president. I can't comment on the current pres because technically he is my boss. But his dad was OK buy me.

He did a lot better than his son, that's for sure.

Hell, that's also why the republicans didn't re-elect him. He almost brought a sense of balance to the country.

More filthy lies and half Truths.

I like the ones about Michael Moore Owning stock in Haliburton. These people don't seem to understand he just does that so he can attend the stockholders meetings and shove a camera in the face of all the CEOs.

Or Ted Kennedy Fighting for a "Death tax" even tho he benefits from not having one. How is that incriminating? He want's what is better for america and not his pocket book (in this particular instance).

This one was good too:

Hillary, for her part, has written and spoken extensively about the right of children to make major decisions regarding their own lives, including having abortions without parental notification.

But she barred 13-year-old daughter Chelsea from getting her ears pierced and forbid the teen from watching MTV or HBO.

Yeah, so just because she's a good mother doesn't mean the rest of the children in the country have the luxury of having such a thing. She would like to make allowances for these children to take care of thierself.
What a Bad Person!

And calling Al Franken, the Jew, Racist because only 1% of people he hired over the past 15 years has been black. Yeah. The idea that only 12.3% of the population of the US is black was't mentioned. Nor did they mention other minorities that he hired. Lies and Half truths. Propaganda sucks.

Do you really think muslims that are like 1/3 of the world are out to just fly planes into buildings?
