It's almost like the "uncut" version of those commercials.

God, I hate those bullshit commercials.

funny.. :P but I love my Mac. The no viruses is a big plus XD go go people not caring to infect 5% of the computer using world :P

More like complete truth. Those commercials are so retarded, I swear. Misleading people to believe Macs are an invincible shield should be illegal.

It really is the truth, which makes it all the more irritating. The reason there are so many less viruses for Macs is that not enough people use them to make it worthwhile. People who want to find a way to get into your computer (be it for fun or profit) want to maximize their chances, so they're going to go with what 95% of people are running.

They're not going to make a Mac version, hoping to come across that rare offchance that you'll be in that hideously pompous minority.

The thing that really ticks me off about Macintosh, however, is how over-represented it is in public school systems and the entertainment industry. You see someone on a computer in a movie or a TV show, and more often than not, you'll see someone on a Mac. What's worse, it's usually a person that's allegedly a "computer expert" or a "hacker." -_-

You walk into a computer lab at a local middle school, and they'll have a long line of either depressingly old Mac 1s, or brand new $3,000 machines.

Why? Because they're sleek and nifty-lookin', and a big enough bias was built in those two areas (teachers and Hollywood) via freebies and foot-rubbing by Macintosh over the years.

I swear to God, it's like buying a car to match the color of your purse. >_<

Actually up until about 2-3 years ago there were no PC programs that were as good as Mac for recording music, and for what they use those macs in schools for you really don't need a PC. Plus most school districts get really great prices from apple to put them into their schools in the first place. So yeah in Hollywood and schools I can see macs having a big advantage over the PC.

Macs also tend to be the standard in the publishing industry. I'd never even touched a Mac until I started working for the newspaper. I spent a good chunk of my first day on the job just figuring out how to use a mouse with one button.

I'll admit, while I think Macs are total garbage, my little bro has one and it seems quite useful for the 6 things he does on it for his band and checking his email.

When he wants to have his fun(counter-strike, etc), he goes to his twin whom I built a PC for, otherwise he has to come to me and give me a free shot at "I'm not gonna say I told you so again" XD. (I actually stopped that a long time ago, I felt guilty after a while and offered to build a gaming system for him should he ever want one.)

We have Macs in my school, including some laptop Macs, and some Dell's in the Library and some classrooms. They're the old one piece macs that used to come in the different colors. I hate them, they're so horrible and never work right. They cause more frustration than anything, though I haven't tried a "new" Mac.

Macs have a program called Virtual PC and another one for the intel processor macs (or something like that >.> I dun remember) called Boot Camp or something and basically you can use PC programs on the mac. It runs quite well really. Frankly, I find a lot of mac haters to be ignorant on Mac's power. Ah well. I still enjoy being able to use my Mac for my work stuff and making movies with friends or whatever and not worrying about anything in terms of viruses or spyware :P

oh, and the mac in media thing? Ya.. Apple goes at lengths to work with hollywood to put their computers on the screen so that people can you know.. see the brand and go "hey, cool, they use that computer, I wanna too! It must be good if ::so and so stars name here:: uses it" :P it's called Advertisement

The ones that really bugged me are the "Macs don't crash!' I work on G4s at work because I"m a desktop publisher, not a day goes by that it doesn't crash. Such a bunch of bull puckey if you ask me.

There is nothing wrong with the Macs, and they are always improving them. In fact, I hear they are coming out with Tetris for the Mac next year.

I really don't know how they crash everyday for you.. I haven't turned my mac off in months in school and use it all the time with lots of programs and it has yet to crash for me. My friends have yet to have one crash. Maybe your work fails with whatever program its using to cause it to crash? *shrugs*

If macs fail at using photoshop and quark express there's a problem

hmmm... well I'm stumped.. D: maybe there's a software running on the background fucking with you that the company installed for "protection"? XD *shrugs* I really don't know

Ack. Mac. No thanks.

It's bad enough that I have to work on one at work. They may be decent machines when it does come for editing and graphic design, but I'd use a PC any day over one.

My roomates are the starbucks/macintosh new-age type of people. Does the mean i'm the old geeky guy? lol.

macs crash just like windows machines do. macintosh dont get blue screen, they get whats called "the bomb" which basically warns you that your puter is about to go to shit. on that note, its not the pc that is the problem. its the operating system on them. so, in this thread, you should be referring to it as a windows machine vs a macintosh machine. also, as ele mentioned, she may not have issues with hers, however, ive never had a problem with my pc. its because i know how to take care of it. the only reason why so many windows machines have issues is because people do stupid things like accept viruses, dont maintain the machine with removing popups, and just all around screwing themselves. since the windows OS is a majority, that is who hackers go after. why go rob a tiny small town bank when you could go to the large town to the west and rob a bigger bank? the mac OS wouldnt be any harder to virus than a windows machine.

the only thing a mac is good for is video and graphic editing. that is what the main purpose is. hell, to upgrade the machine, it costs double. except the new ones with the pentium chip. the macintosh company has made their computers totally backwards from a normal pc. a pc card faces one direction, the mac goes the opposite. and....why would anyone spend 3 times as much for a computer that has one main purpose, expensive to upgrade, etc? it costed me 500 bucks to make my pc. a mac will run you over a grand to buy off the shelf.
