Now to preface this, it goes without saying that /nin has its place in the game. Anywhere that you are most likely to take a lot of hits for example, like cannon pts, dynamis, certain nm fights, etc. In these cases where hits are unavoidable and you are doing it to save mage mp then that's fine (though that doesn't give you permission to dual wield, more on that later). Also, it is SOMETIMES okay for certain jobs to use /nin at lower levels until they can benefit more from the traits/abilities of better subs. Having said that....

For the love of all that is good and holy, quit fucking subbing /nin on every goddamn job people! It's useless and it's lazy, and you're holding back your xp/whatever pts because you fail at FFXI. If you aren't a war or in the situation in the first paragraph, you are failing at life. Let's take a look at all of the popular /nin jobs.

BLU/NIN. God, everytime I see this I want to ram a fork into their eyesockets. Dual Wield is cute for you guys if you're soloing, but once you get past 30 stop that shit in parties. /THF gives you SA even at this point, or you can use berserk from /WAR so that your damage isn't so insignificant anymore. And god, at higher levels you guys can own if you don't gimp yourselves with /NIN. Just last night Pud was busting out some SATA Death Scissors that was totally destroying mobs. It was beautiful, and almost made me mist up a little.

THF/NIN. Despite what you seem to have yourselves convinced about, that cute little dual wield isn't making you do any more damage. This is one that could kinda waffle back and forth depending on the gear you can afford, but if you load up on the right stuff and bust out berserk, warcry, etc from /WAR, you'll notice a huge difference. I don't wanna hear "But whaaaaa, I have to pull" as an excuse either. You're evasion whores, and you can hit mobs from far enough away that they can't catch you, unless you fail at pulling too.

COR/NIN. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Fucking stop this shit, right now. This is another one of those "Whaa, I have to pull" stupid things that people do. If you need shadows when you shoot a gun that can shoot from miles away, logout and play another game. And don't give me that "I dual wield Archer's Knives 1337sauce awesome" junk either. At lvl 30, one Archer's Knife plus the accuracy bonus from /RNG is the same as dual wielding, plus you get the added bonus of Sharpshot so you don't whiff your millionth weaponskill. Oh, and let's not forget the Gun Belt and the Beater's line of items that you gain access to with /RNG. If you wanna play with guns, do it right and stop missing.

BRD/NIN. This is probably the most selfish sub, mainly used in cannons and completely unnecessary. Assuming that your melee voke incoming mobs after you sleep them (yes, I know that's asking a lot but pt with competant people please), you shouldn't be getting hit much anyway. If you're subbing /WHM, you get Stoneskin and Blink, which should get you to camp just fine. Better yet if you're /RDM you get Phalanx too, and not to mention the Fast Cast benefit you get on all of your songs. Also from either sub you can cure yourself so you don't have to waste mage mp everytime your shadows go down. You get it now?

DRK/NIN. Now I use this myself sometimes, but only in dynamis and you can sure as hell expect me to have a scythe in my hand. You aren't a war, don't pretend to be one. If you wanna dual wield, level war or bst (yes, I think bst/nin is fine cause they have axe skill). Best case (as in, not in a cannon so you can sub what you want) you'd best have /WAR on doing the 1337 dmg with your scythe.

Those are the most guilty ones that I see these days, though it seems like everyone and their mom just throws on /nin for everything they do. Please, stop the madness! Use the proper sub, don't gimp it up anymore! If your job isn't WAR or BST and you aren't in a cannon or other situation where blinking actually serves a purpose, just say no.

I've been saying this for about a year now, noone listened then, I doubt people will listen now. Main reason is one you pointed out: people are fucking lazy. The best course of action I can suggest is fuming away silently and drowning your rage (and PS2 if yer me) in orange soda sugariness.

You forgot to put WAR up there too.

Mr/Mrs. RNG/NIN. Dear god. Stop it guys, you suck. Sub WAR. Now.

Amen!

Rappa shaddup!!! I saw you go whm/nin!!! You're such a hypocrit... Anyways.. we all know whm/nin = the best.

But all the cool kids use two swords D:

And when the evil ninjas come, they just hit them and then the evil ninjas die.

mnk/nin is pretty good because mnk/war just pulls too much hate and gets hurt to badly.

Also, pld/nin to exp. Die in a damn car fire. Only time pld/nin is any good is the harder HNM.

Also I've been telling drks to not sub nin for 6+ months. Omg leet rampage. Pisses me off.

Problem with MNK/NIN pre-TP-burn is that changing the sub away from /WAR pretty much guarantees you won't pull hate anymore. I much prefer switching some pieces out for -Enmity in those cases, or in the worst of bad cases, sub /THF (though I never tried the latter so far)

Axe/Krakens = funtastical

I'd rather see a DRK dual wielding axe/ridill. LOLYARIGHT

Are you shitting your pants? Thf's arn't out there to get good damage for every hit. Only thing that will ever do good enough damage for a thf is Ws's TP is what a THF needs to do good damage. The basis of your case should be directed at DARK KNIGHTS NOT THIEFS. WS's is the only time a THF does good damage that's it. And if you go well the thf's ws will be higher I don't care no /war out there will ever do more DoT then my THF I guarntee that. I will be doing 2 ws's for his 1. Say my WS is 1200 his is 1600 I did 2 for a total of 2400 I win /war fails. Seriously this is about the dumbest thing I've heard.

You've obviously never played BLU. In all honesty, /THF sub *SUCKS* past 70. That's a fact. When yo u can do over 1,200 with 2 spells in less then 10 sec, why on earth would you like to sub THF? Any BLU subbing THF past 70 is gimp. Seriously. Wow, so you can do 1200 damage every 2 min? That's cute. Now stfu and go sub NIN.

THF sub isn't really that good pre-70 either. Seriously, you should try lvling BLU and parse BLU/NIN vs BLU/THF someitmes before you go talk. Don't go all high-single-damage happy. Its about DoT, not direct damage.

Also, you DO know Berserk does SHIT for BLU spells, right?

Your 15% haste gives you 2x as much TP as a 10% double attack? This isn't last year, the TP floor is gone, so off-handing a fast dagger doesn't do anything other than gimp DoT, so... Where's the other 95% coming from? O_o

I stopped reading here. Any argument with "You've never done such and such" isn't worth reading. I don't have to do something to look up info and see how it's done correctly. Go back to argument school and learn how to not fail.

Is this a serious post or a joke? I honestly can't tell. "Thf's arn't out there to get good damage for every hit." THEN WHAT THE FUCK AM I INVITING YOU FOR?!

Do read it. You obviously fail at telling people what subs are good for BLU.

I do agree with you on COR, but your statement for BLU is 100% pure bullshit. You can't be more wrong.
