Yo sup guyz I've had my PS2 since the PS2's came out literally...
and for any given days... it just slowly breaks ...

One night... it works, next morning it's not reading my games... so, no more expansion downloading for me :l,

My network adaptor has been working whenver it feels like it... so I take my PS2 to my hotel .. and it decides not to work, longer than it usually does... I get mad and /em SMACKED that P.O.S across the floor ...

And now it doesnt even... like... go to the "dashboard" screen .. lastly. I go inside my PS2, and now it's sittin on the floor in pieces ... and I look at it not knowing if I should be MAD... or ... SAD ; ; >< I gatta find another way to PLAY! or i'ma go through withdrawal XD... /sigh

O.o What's wrong with yours... Mine has been dropped (multiple times), flipped it and struck the back with a USB keyboard twice, caused it to fall off Desk and scrape wall, and even get water on it causing it to flat out die for 3 days and my PS2 STILL Worked.

/nod, experiencing withdrawal. I NEED to Kill - err, exp.

lol man... mine just sat there next to my T.v.

Only thing that could have affected it was my constant trips outta town but I put it in a bookbag and it fits fine and doesnt rock or rattle... /sigh... lol

I stopped reading there. PS2s have been out for a number of years. No shit it's starting to crap out. Mine doesn't read DVDs PS1 games or CDs. And everytime I turn on a game aside from FFXI it makes this weird sound like a dying T-Rex. Only real option is to get a PS2 Slim or a PS3.

It's really easy to fix your problem, Solan. Requires opening it up from the bottom, though. Dunno about Ino's problem, though.

You can adjust the laser but that only lasts so long. I bought mine in 2002 and after many laser adjustments and such, its only good for memory card management. I never play it anyway, $300 paper wait now.

I've adjusted mine once, early on in its lifetime, and it's been perfectly fine since. Launch PS2, even. Even if it was only just "so long" it's not like it's hard to redo. Are you really so lazy that you can't take out eight or so screws? And have you tried proper ventilation/cleaning of it when you open it?

Well , not everyone knows about adjusting the dvd/cd laser and its not always the solution. Sometimes the motor is bad, power supply dieing, ribbon cable going bad, and so on.

I've had my PS2 since it came out as well. And yeah, it have laser problems as well.

There are several ways you can fix it. Admitedly, though, eventually trying to start it that way can require a LOT of time. Anyway, you can either adjust the laser strenght, or the laser height. Both requires you to open the PS2 in order to fix it.

Anyway, once I finally get my PS2 to read a game, I don't turn it off anymore until I complete that game. Because otherwise I might not get it to read the game again for an hour or two....

What if you were to try to DL most of your games onto a HD and put that in so you dont even have to worry about using the laser in the first place? Just hope you get the system on a good day and pop in a regular ps1 cd and go off of that.

...that reminds me, still gotta talk to Pupusa on doing that...

Thats the thing lol, when I thrashed it after my network adaptor didnt pick up connection, I turned it back on...

But it didnt go to the screen where no disk is in. So... it's just broke, I tried to take apart then put back together, but got discouraged in the process so... I'm finna throw it away today :l

Admittedly I got my bulky PS2 late (Dec 2003 or so) but I've had no problems playing just about anything on it whatsoever (Unless the CD was scratched of course). Bought a slim this year after my dad trashed my o so faithful PS2 because of an incident and because 'Games are evil'. Unfortunately, the slim doesn't work with the HDD so it's back to PC for FF playing - If I ever get on.
