All-Time sales figures does not reflect player base. Since we all know that pirating on PC is a massive reason why developers like consoles more.

I believe the figure I last heard was about 40% of PC games are illegal copies, Which means only about half a PC titles sales figures are reflective of the actual community.

And also, your quoting franchise sales... sure Mario is 193million sales but there has been about 20 mario games! Mario Party alone is what, 7 games? You got the original 3 on top of that and then all the others. Also those sales are across all platforms, so once again you come to my argument, most of the hit games on console are ported to PC!

Theres only a few hit titles at most on each console that never come to PC. And I think Grand Turismo is the biggest of them.

Mario isn't cross-platform, he's never been on anything but Nintendo.

The name "Mario" sells well. It's really sad, though, because there hasn't been a decent Mario game in several years (yes, in my opinion, Super Paper Mario included). I am, ironically, looking forward to the next Mario Party.

For that matter, not all PCs can run the oldest of games, either. It's partially why I'm not huge into PC gaming outside of MMOs. I have a copy of Toonstruck that I'll never be able to play just because it's old.

Well we're talking most popular right ? Developers make games for console becauae there is more money to be made. When the same game is released multiplatform including PC, the console version still makes more money.

Top 2 PS2 games:

-Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (14 million)
-Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (13 million)

The PC version never even reached 1 million and wasn't even included in the list. That could just aswell be due to piracy too. You also gotta consider, if you were a pirate, would you make more selling ripped PC games or ripped console games ? PC is easier to rip off, as it can all be done with software. In some cases consoles can also be softmodedd or exploited, but still not like the PC.

I figure i'd trim the list because it can get long. XboX and XboX360 have done very poor for the record.

Top PC figures:

The Sims (16 million)
StarCraft (9.5 million, includes StarCraft: Brood War)
World of Warcraft (Over 8.5 million current customers worldwide, which is different to box sales)
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade [expansion pack] (3.5 million)
Half-Life (8 million)
Myst (6 million)
The Sims 2 (5 million)

Nintendo:

Super Mario Bros. (40.23 million) << This one was part of the deal in most cases
Super Mario Bros. 3 (18 million)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (10 million)

I wouldn't doubt you do you're homework, Gran Turismo 3 on PS2 is Playstations exclusive power house at 11 million.

The Non exclusive games that go to other platforms at a later date is for the sake of money. It's a smooth move in terms of business but they do not make as much on the 2nd round.

I'll be honest with you. I was waiting for Dark Sector to come to PC. But now it's going straight to console. Not sure if it ever will come to PC. No word on it doing so.
