PS3 price cut coming.

They are from the same damn interview lol Read one and read the other, it is the same thing. Even the quotes are the same. The one you quoted though took something out of context.

FT: You’ve made a big bet on PlayStation. Is it going to come good?
HS: Yes, it is. I think I would be the first to say to you that Nintendo Wii has been a successful enterprise and a very good business model compared to ours. But our process…
FT: Because it’s cheaper?
HS: Yes, because it’s cheaper.
FT: Maybe more creative, more fun?
HS: No, no, no. Fun is in the eye of the experiencer.
FT: How much lower can you afford to bring it down?
HS: That’s what we’re studying at the moment; that’s what we’re trying to refine. But PlayStation 2…
FT: Will you come up with an answer by Christmas?
HS: Yes, of course.

Where?

Holy shit, am I the only one that knows how to read one article, then read another, and tell they are from the exact same interview? Read what you posted Dark, then read what Mara quoted. They are the same shit just in different formats. One is question answer, the other is textualized. In neither of them does it say a price drop is guaranteed. What it does say is that they are researching a possible price drop that they will be able to answer by Christmas.

Is anyone else getting this?

He agreed the Wii has an advantage because it's cheaper.

The question was how much lower can you afford to bring it down.
He answered: he needs to research.

He was then asked: Can he give an answer to how much by christmas?
He answered: Of course.

This makes me think a price cut is coming but he doesn't know how much yet?

Don't think so? The reporter thought so too.

Edit: he never gave any hint it was not possible, it sounds like he wants a price cut and will do anything he can to cut the price. Where does it say he can't gaurentee a price cut?

Shit. Anyway does it matter that much? I posted it FYI. Enjoy =)

Did the idea that research could show they can't bring the price down? No where does 'research' guarantee any of that, so saying there will be a price drop is only a possibility right now.

I'm not trying to win, just to teach a little reading comprehension. There is no need to jump all over a story about something we all know is happening , especially one that doesn't even include any information supporting that fact.

haha
what i read is possible price cut. what interviewer asked by how much. HS said we are researching now. FT says will we know by Christmas. HS replied of course indicating that the answer to whether there will be a price cut will be available by Christmas.

That is what i am getting. Keeping in mind my English is so so lol.

This is the only thing Stringer said about the price.

I still don't get why people don't understand that for $600, you are really getting your monies worth. Just gotta wait for the games...

I get it, I just dont have that much to spend on a game system XD

Well Kira got it and his English isn't as great as others. POSSIBLE PRICE CUT!

Naw its everywhere now. Pricecut is set for E3 so far um... every site has 1000 threads of this and 360 3year warranty lol.

I was thinking MS would have a price cut to match the PS3 price cut but with the news of the new 3 year warranty (makes me happy) costing them over 1 billion dollars it will be interesting to see what MS does. They will still be the cheaper system so they may just keep the price the same, to try to get/stay profitable, unless they see a huge migration to the PS3.

For what you get for $600 I thought the PS3 was already a good deal, at $500 it is a steal, imo.

I'm still waiting on some games to come out before it becomes remotely worth it, but now at least it won't hurt the wallet quite as much whenever they do.

The potential means shit. People want games now. ;;
$100 less this year to buy games coming in 08' doesnt work.

Also... you're still dropping a half a grand. $100 will boost sells a little but it wont give them what they're looking for. The game library just doesn't match up to the price tag of owning one and wont for some time to come.

If you're a 360 owner the $100 price drop might not mean much but for someone who doesn't own either system it's a big deal. You have to consider that at this point, with multiplatform games, the PS3 has enough games to justify the buy, and overall it's really the cheaper system unless you buy a 360, no wireless internet, no high def player and stay offline. Even then, it's only $20 more than the elite. If you try to get out of the 360 what you get from the PS3, it costs you...

$480
$200 HD DVD Player.
$100 Wireless Internet.
$200 4 years of Xbox Live.

That's $980 you're spending, essentially the cost of 2 PS3s.

People always talk about how 360 + Wii = PS3 price, but first that was the 360 model with 20 gigs and no HDMI, next that price scheme doesn't even include online access which without the 360 is the real paperweight.

Of course it's an easier sales pitch with a smaller initial price since most consumers don't even know what the fuck is in 360 or PS3.

Not going to throw in $140 RROD charge because they'll cover you for 3 years now, but I will say it'll still be an inconvenience until the hardware fix is out.

this is good news, i work for gamestop and have for 4 months, i have personally sold/seen sold 2 new ps3's and one used while i cant count how many 360's i have sold. this makes them more affordable and hell used 60gig goin for 399 is just freakin sweet.

Why the fuck are you always including the HD DVD add on in to the price? No one buys a 360 to watch movies, except for a very small minority. It doesn't need that gimmick to be successful.
