I said, "If you want to get out of the 360 what you get out of the PS3...."
Hardware wise, you're right. However, software is a much, much better selling point. IT is why we buy most consoles and PC's to begin with, right?
You still wont get the quantity of games. We are talkin' about game systems that you play games on, right? There are a lot of good games already out and comming for just the 360. The PS3, not so much. PS3 is getting very late ports we already have and a few new things. Even their list of games for 2008 isn't as big/grand as the 360's. I'd say, from a game players perspective as opposed to a movie buff/display perspective... you're not going to get near the experience out of a PS3 to warrant a purchase. You guys are still playing Resistance, no? We've still got Gears going on but also have plenty of other successful options.
Another thing to factor in is how many people have abandoned their exclusives to Sony and developers now under Microsoft. The main two I can think of right off the bat is the Chrono Cross/FF team and the MGS team. With those heavy hitters jumping ship, if people pay attention closely to their investments, this will make for a lot of concern and make for an easy decision if you're a fan of the devs. or their games.
Also, you don't have to buy the 4 year live package... You can and should only buy one year for less than $60 bucks. No reason to pay for 4 years of something you might not get your money's worth out of. If it wasn't for already having a 1 year subscription, I wouldn't hardly touch it at all with everything I've got going on on WoW, PSU, and PS2 wise.
The PS3 has one perk which is better as a gimmick, Blu-ray. However, I'd bet a good chunk of change most people will consider that no matter the quality of the movie they are watching be it normal, HD, or Blu-ray... you're still getting the very same enjoyment that comes with watching a movie. Games can have gimmicks but movies will ALWAYS just be movies as long as they don't skip
While the price is now evening out, there are a lot of other factors still out there that make for important concerns. In my opinion, if Sony doesn't do something big by the first quarter of next year, we'll have another GameCube on our hands but instead of a lot of original titles, it'll be plagued with ports and multi-platform games. Them givin' away and trying to push Blu-ray as the main factor of owning a PS3, which is exactly what they're currently doing, should be a shot to the heart to any PS3 fan.
