WILMINGTON, N.C. - A teenager accused of robbing a student of two new Playstation 3s on the day the popular game consoles were introduced was shot to death by police sent to arrest him.

Peyton Strickland, 18, was killed Friday at a house he shared with three roommates, New Hanover County Sheriff Sid Causey said.

I live in Wilmington, and I was his friend. We graduated together from the same high school also. He didnt rape anybody and he didnt kill anybody and never has. He was a good kid except that he was a suspect in stealing ps3...and you think he should be killed? According to that report of the story, the police who knocked at the door had seen a picture of the suspect holding a gun with friends. That's why the campus police opted to call in a special team instead of doing the search themselves.

Also according to the story, every student+professor was sent the video of a parking lot surveillance camera, asking if anyone knew who's car it was that followed the victim.

Given the robbery, picture with guns, and knowing that they had been sent the surveillance video (even if they didn't bother to watch), past assault charges, and the fact they didn't answer the door right away even though the police clearly heard activity (aka: could easily be looking for a gun before comming to door), it becomes understandable how a person could mistake a ps3 controller for a gun, and having not even a whole second to react to decide whether to shoot first or see if he does.

I definatly don't think he deserved to be shot over just a robbery, but at the same time, I don't think the policemen should be reprimanded for it.

he was a piece of shit, whether he deserved to die for this ornot is arguable, but the type of person who does this has probably rung up a string of things like this and stopping him now stops his future victims from suffering.

Perhaps that was a bit harsh, I don't mean the kid exactly, as it was just suspected (though it really seems he did do it from evidence).. I am tired of people thinking that they can just rob or rape and sometimes even murder and the worse they get is a imprisonment? sure it's not great but it's not like the worst thing that could happen..(personally I vote torture for those who murder and rape and rob, well rob things like a porsche, things they don't need to survive, but if someone like the people stealing medical supplies in New Orleans to live and help others who were sick than they should be forgiven and just asked to try and help work it off at the place they stole from later in life maybe) honestly, it was foolish for me to go right from start saying he was guilty but I just get pissed off hearing someone getting beaten for some material that doesn't even help someone survive... though, if it was true your friend did help with robbing that kid (either the one who beat him or the one who stole the PS3) I seriously will have no remorse.
