Just to clarify before I get goin' on the main point, I'm not here for a flame. I just want to know something. Also, I play on a 32in' Widescreen Sanyo SDTV with component cables. The cables for my 360 are MS brand and my PS3's are Sony brand.

I recently downloaded the Tiger Woods '09 Demo on my PS3 and Xbox 360. I also downloaded the Monster Madness Demo on both consoles. I've noticed a huge difference in the graphics between the two consoles on my SDTV. It's a difference as clear as night and day and it bothers me, big time.

Here is what I want to know. Is there a way to fix this or does the PS3 just look like garbage compared to the 360 in SD? Also, when I finally upgrade to an HDTV, will that simply just close the gap, make the PS3 bump a little over the 360, or make them even?

I'm trying really hard not be be a fanboy right now. But I believe when you get the HDTV that the ps3 will shine more than the 360. This is just my opinion though. I don't own or want to own a 360 for any reason what-so-ever. So I am not 100% sure on my statement.

PS3 does look like garbage in SD, but it really wasn't meant to be played in SD. The 360 was made to compensate for both.

At this point in HD, games pretty much look the same. The only differences I ever see in games anymore is lighting, where the 360 always seems a little brighter, but shit like that is easily changed in in-game settings.

From an owner of both. On HDTV they are pretty much identical. In multiplatform, the 360 sometimes might look a little better since the system is easier to program for, so developers can get more out it. The PS3 is tougher, so it usually lacks a little, but not enough for someone to say "oh shit this looks terrible". Like I said, pretty identical.

In exclusives. PS3's look better then the 360's. Developers can spend way more time working on them, getting everything the system has to offer. PS3 cell processer is still untapped, which means sony's 10 year console statement was no joke lol.

They'll look about the same when you go to HD. The 360 will have a little better textures since it has more memory available for them; but the PS3 will have better particle effects due to the cell. But all in all, they're going to look about the same.

I figured as much. I was hopin' for a big ol' "lulz yer do n et wrongz" but I figured it was a long shot. Thanks for the info guys.

In SD the 360 wins out big time for me. In HD they are pretty much even with only marginal differences. If you are running HDMI i think the PS3 looks better, but its not as big as the SD difference.

Really depends on the game. I have seen a few games on SDTV and most looked fine, but I just recently saw WALL-E on a SDTV at a friend's house - and man it looked just awful. On the same TV... COD4, Folklore and Pixeljunk Eden looked great.

From what I hear, it has something to do with if the game is displaying a native SD or downscaling or something of that nature.

Yeah, Folklore looks fine, not as good as if it were on a 360 but much better than MGS4 which, I'm certain, is far superior, Haze, RFoM, and Tiger Woods '08 and '09. Wont matter in a few days though. Gonna bite the bullet and go ahead and get a new T.V. I can't stand havin' somethin' and it not lookin' at least good, all of the time. There is also a huge difference in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm in HD than on SD, I figured that would make the least difference, cel-shade games that is.

Yeah man bite the bullet! This is just my opinion, not shared by others im sure, but to me the HD part is what separates the old gen from the current gen. Might as well be playing a playstation 2 (even worse sometimes since you can't read dialogue on some games), with just new titles if you're not running HD.

If I don't use the component cables on my SDTV, I can't read most of the text in Lost Odyssey. =(

Yeah, certain games are like that. I remember one big one was Dead Rising. That is probably my favorite 360 game and I had gotten it before I had my HDTV, and it really pissed me off that I couldn't read the text. It's actually the game that made me finally go out and buy a nice TV.

Worst I've ever seen was Lost Planet. You can't even read the display scoreboards online and barely even the end game results. I just played my ass off until I was either told I won or loss most of the time.
