PS4 Officially Announced

Ya that was a domination O.O Sony just beat Microsoft on almost every level. I think there were more exclusives, there was game after game, they only mentioned their movie services and show service for like 5 minutes and just moved on to games, they support the crap outta Indie devs (even more than Steam and so), the price is great, the PSPlus service is great still (other than needing to pay to even use online now, but oh well, I still wanna know if that's 100% confirmed cause I still argue it could mean that PSPlus will have additional online services), allows used games fine, etc. Sony REALLY came at MS hard.

The only other black mark for me (other than needing to possibly pay to play online) is the still lack of backwards compatibility and they didn't expand how the streaming service will allow for pseudo backwards compatibility (and better not make us rebuy the game).

Two other things I'd have liked to seen?

I just realized, no one asked if PS3 controllers will work on the PS4

What's even worse for MS, their exclusive claims are not all in earnest as they don't have any sort of rights, apparently, to restrict publishers from making PC ports of Xbox One "exclusives." Must be that odd "pay-off" analysts are talking about to entice publishers to come over to their side despite all the negativity around their DRM and such.

As well, if anyone would have asked if the PS3 controller worked with the PS4 I'd have hit them with a brick. That's the worst damn controller I have ever played games with.

Some folks took issue with the changes to the R2/L2 buttons (which are the changes between the two controllers in terms of layout), though I wasn't one of them. I can understand it, the buttons had a lot more travel than the Dualshock 2 buttons, and if you were prone to sweaty palms or unable to put down the chips for ten seconds, they could get slippery, but for me the general layout of the Dualshock series has been vastly more comfortable than the Xbox controllers, so I wasn't too put out by the changes. With my giant meat hook Galka hands, my fingers can't slip off the triggers lol.

The Dualshock 4 improves on a few things over its predecessors. The R2/L2 triggers are, oddly enough, shaped like triggers, the controller as a whole is a little more ergonomic, the analog sticks have a lip around them for easier gripping for those sweaty-palm-chip-eaters, and while I'm not sure how useful the touchpad is going to be in the long run, Sony apparently at least had the wisdom to just make it another button on top of everything else.

The PS3 "triggers" also are hard to use past stop and go, the new design makes it take more force to push them down, thus an easier time say, not fully accelerating in racing games. As well, the PS3 sticks have a large dead-zone and have little resistance, both of these issues have, apparently, been fixed. So basically we're getting the nice feel, face buttons, D-pad, and such we typically get from Sony, with better sticks and triggers.
