Push for simpler spelling

... wow. I didn't even bother to read that article. It hurt my eyes trying to read their so-called simplified english <.<;

Yeah... easier to spell, but hellova lot harder to read. I surely hope that idea never goes beyond just that, an idea.

I don't even know why I'm going to go to college to do english literature and language if theres fuck tards in the world that really do want this to go ahead and get accepted.

Seriously, English is a fairly easy language if you're born into a country that has it as it's native language. If you attend school, and don't have any disabilitys or mental issues then there's no real reason to fail at spelling and grammar. I know people that have english as their second language that can type better than some people, aswell as speak it fluently.

I gave up reading that news article after a couple of paragraphs. I feel myself getting a head ache already. Like uzor said, spelling it is easy, sure, but reading that shit without pauses is god damn awful. Any1 cna tlka liek dis an b fast, But I'm sure you could read this better.

PLease no..... at least blazn seems like he's trying to spell properly even with a lack of grammar. I personally suck at typing and the typing system on ffxi kinda makes it too hard to change my sentences so i ignore small misspells i make but that is just retarded.
If people in most countries of the world that arent native english speakers can speak/write english better than your children it means you arent making em learn it well enough making them funtionally retarted. It's a sign to get off your ass and teach your children to read not make it easier for them. Let's be honest.. Do you really want to live in a country where the standards are so low even george bush can pass em?

Everyone misspells once in a while, but come on! This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. If this ever passes I'm going to Canada.

I remember debating it during my education courses back when I thought I wanted to be an English teacher (before I became a media whore). It's nothing new, but someone in the media picked it up recently and the wire services have been banging on it like a cheap drum for some reason.

Americans doen't aulwaez go for whut's eezy
lol thats not true
and blabj english is a hard langue btw aginist some others
as most words are taken from another langue if we do not have it like colours etc, pizza list goes on

Actually I agree with Kire, English is complex compared to other languages. We might think it's easy because it's seems simplified when compared to other languages with gender words, mulitple pronounciations and forms. However English is a challenge for some people learning it because it has so many rules and loopholes and the basics of spelling words. Like how these idiots (my mistake, ideaots) at this 'spelling soicety' pointout that "comb, tomb, bomb" don't rhyme but "they, say, and weigh" do.
These people are wrong to think that simplifying the language will increase grades and preformance and school. They don't even take into consideration maybe it's not the language that's broken but many factors that contribute to this problem..

I before E expect after C
all those stupid rules, if you spell how you say it and on a PC mircosfot word it will auto change it. Well does for me. I can speak very well but righting is as you seen crap.
Also broken sentences gezz thats an anoying one

Fuck right off, who gives them the right to butcher the English language. If this goes ahead I fucking demand that it doesn't have "English" in the title of the language at all.

This couldn't be more true. My mother, fiancee, and my sister are all teachers. I cannot tell you how many times that parents are absent in the education of their children.

I realize that it is hard to stay on top of a child's education as they get older, but all too often poor performance in the classroom is reinforced by "feel good" policies.

Lowering the educational standards is not only detrimental to those that barely achieve those lower marks. In NY state a regents high school diploma was once a sign of acomplishment. Now, a regents diploma is not only required, but the standards are lower. Yes, there are different levels of a regents diploma, but that is not the point. The american education system tends to just push people through.

If a student is too lazy to do the minimum required, why should the standard be lowered?

Edit: Before someone makes a smartass comment about my grammer. I know my grammer is lacking, but at least I attempt to get it right.

New York State Board of Regents Examinations

If I remember correctly, Regents accreditation really only matter for getting into SUNY schools, though. Since most states didn't have an equivalent high school exam system, it wouldn't matter if you took it outside of the state.

It does sound like the current tests are a joke compared to what used to be administered, at least according to what I've heard from family members about how the tests used to be. They certainly seemed to be when I took them. Again, though, the diploma only really matters if you continue on to a state university.

There are a lot of disconcerting signs about the direction education is moving in the entire country. However, without a real understanding of how the system stacks up to the rest of the world, I don't feel entirely comfortable making any kind of blanket statement. There are always news items with statistics about how many students pass their classes and some relative levels of achievement in individual subjects, but anyone with any understanding of statistics would know that some numbers can be highly misleading without the proper context.

Back to the original post, you might notice the effort was started decades ago and seemed to have its greatest level of support in Teddy Roosevelt. As much as I can respect the work he did, not every idea is gold and that was a very long time ago. I'd guess this was the result of a relatively slow news day.

The whole time I was reading this, what about accents that would depend on the region you live in? And also, wouldn't it be just as hard because you would still have to memorize the new 'simplified' way to spell something?

Great, just encourage people to become bigger retards than they already are. >< Hurray for lower standards!

I swear if I have to look at that kind of crap out in public, where it's not actually acceptable or expected, I will go on a shooting spree and make it pretty obvious what pissed me off.

Have a nice day ^^
