QCDN/Eosun Dead?

QCDN missed the Abyssea bus and therefore people who still play XI use other forums for info and game discussion. I still pop my head in to see Multimedia/Off topic posts, but other than that, there's very little up to date info on XI. Deleting XI's job forums didn't sit well with me either, unless they're still here and I can't find them.

wow i didn't even know they were gone. can't say i'm surprised tho. whats to discuss? we know the strengths and faults of the jobs inside and out. when everything is known there is nothing to talk about. :(

this place will pick back up should 14 become genuinely fun to play.

Not really a matter of "missing the bus" in this instance. I mean, I doubt anyone was using QCDN as their primary source of in-game knowledge. We've been mostly a social hub for a long time. Shifting the focus of the board was probably premature, of course, but such is life. As the old guard retires, the community on a diffuse board starts to unravel unless new people join in.

With FFXIV floundering, it's a little difficult to draw in new blood.

Sounds like NM's would be easy picking. Everyone doing this "Abyssea" thing. Sadly, i would have to start from level 01/00.
But something to do around this time of the year.

No i didn't level to do FFXfail, just had bills and family to take care of. and never got back to playing. had no good PC to play or monthly fees.

And all so, i do see the "Network Fail" alot now too, hardly can get on this site. lol

I'm still here.. I linger around the general discussion forums, gaming and anime forums. Qcdn will always be a place I check out at least once a day when I can get on my computer.

The community has suffered due to the game's it was made to host are either failing or just outdated.

As one of the older members this place will always have a special place where certain friends I've made still come by.

Generally-speaking, we missed that bus because we were concentrating in full swing on a game that promised to be better and that improved on everything that FFXI lacked.

We see how well that turned out...

Yeah that totally blew up in our face. Oh well, c'est la vie I guess.

Not sure what else we could have done with Abyssea. We had the forum for it and no one used it. Took me a while to realize but this place really isn't the best informational place to go. Most of the info is relayed from BG or KI. This place seems to be more of a social gathering to talk about the game, accomplishments and keep up with old friends. At least that's what I use it for.

Regardless of the site status, I certainty don't sit on any website for a long period of time, I'm actually playing the games they are meant for. Don't know about you guys, but the updates sure gave me a lot to do in XI.

i'm still looking at a return to XI. i'm curous to see how all this new stuff looks. and it will give more something more to play besides starcraft 2.

I logged back into FFXI last week, looked around....talked to 2 people, looked at gear... logged back out and cancelled my content ID again. FFXI doesn't attract me anymore like it used to. FFXIV, despite its fail at retail release only remains fun to me because I can play it casually and the people I play with make the game enjoyable.

In all honesty, you can play FFXI as casually as you want these days. In abyssea, I have been able to dual box most lesser-medium nms. I have zero problem getting any seals for the +1 upgrades, so if you got a small group of friends, a single pt should be more then capable of decimating anything in abyssea. (with a couple exceptions of course.)

In all honesty ffxi died on me too awhile back. Started up again about a month ago and abyssea really brought this game back to life. I'm actually having fun again.

Yea, Think when i get set-up. I am just going to lay back in play. no End-game crap for awhile. just going to relax, and have fun playing again. Like i did 7 years ago when i started. ;)~

End-game carp

Yeah, this came to mind:

I'm still here; but I don't use QCDN/Eosun as a source of in-game information anymore, and I haven't visited the Flameboard in ages - a board I used to be one of the most active members of. Nowadays I mostly visit the general discussion part, as well as the gaming/multimedia/anime section.

I didn't like the merging of general discussion and real-life sections, though :/

Also, Shome, you should have painted on some Morrigan feet on the carp, makes it feel more valid!

Aaah my bad. It's been a while now, I'd forgotten the set even existed. Couldn't think of anything worth drawing other than what you saw there - maybe some boots on it's back fin but couldn't think of some good ones (guess you did though).

I did the same thing about a month ago, I was like "meeeeeeeh" and realized that I didn't have the time to play again. It sucks to be a grown-up sometimes and having "responsibilities" and "duties" and having to go to work and shit /sarcasm. lol

You mean the lounge and RSI? What was the real difference between the two? ; _ ;
lounge was a good place for random crap talk, like the genie in a bottle thread or whether pie or cake is better. Real-life section was for more serious discussion, or random real-life things, like the "Arizona congresswoman shooting", or the real-life picture thread!

I suppose it doesn't matter now that QCDN has shrunk in size and isn't as active, but I missed the separation back when it first happened :(
