QCDN - Funny Noob Sayings

well, since i couldnt get warped or teled to bastok, i walked from sandy, to jeuno, to bastok. what a hellasish trip that was. took like 1-2 hours. the first attempt i died cuz i got to the highlands and entered the mines on mistake. (i had to use the brady guide maps to navigate) needless to say, i thought i could walk by the undead and not get aggroed at lvl 8

lets see, a nooby story i heard from a friend:

He was in windy when he heard a noob /shouting and begging for gil because he didnt know how to make any. My friend told him to go outside and kill crawlers for silk thread because they sell so well and fast. An hour or 2 later the noob /tell's him back thanking him for such great advice. He told him he made great money in just that short a time. how much did he make? i'll quote it the best i can

"Yea, i was able to sell it for a whole 1,000 gil!"

"u had a stack of 12?"

"Yea, i sold it to that guy in the store ^^ now im like rich!"

reason i bring that up is, when i was a noob, i didnt know *anything* about the AH until i was about lvl 13 :( then i saw Quadacv Backplates selling for 1k a piece, and well, famred those for about 3 months with a lvl 15 thf with no subjob.

yea, i memorized palborough

wow i sucked badly as a noob. ill just start with what comes to my head first. I didnt know there was a AH so i sold everything to NPC and thought i was rich when i made 5k. once i found out about the AH and Silk (10k a stack at the time) me and my 2 RL friends that were playing (Boobyfoxx and Canadianjames) they gave me all the silk they got from killing crawlers and i sold them on the AH and then split the money up. now i had 20k and thought i was the shit @ lvl 10. then me and my 2 RL started to camp Tom Tit Tat for those 20k knuckles! we spent like 5hrs and didnt see it once......

so now im around lvl 15 and people talking about kazham. i ask a LS member how to get there and he said you have to take a blow up raft to the island. as a noob i belived him and was asking people were i could buy a blow up raft to get to kazham and lvl.

now im lvl 20 and people talking about leaping lizzy. i thogutht it was a dragon for some reason and a giant one @ that. dont ask me why :( so i wasted like 2 days camping lizzy and didnt see it once as like 20mnk/5whm.

that also brings up another thing lol. i thought i could have WHM subjob and heal myself and haste myself and all that stuff and be uber quick like hunderd first all the time. i dont know what the FUCK i was thinking

thats about it for all my noobie moments, but im sure there is a shit load more that i cant really think of

n00b story that is kinda recent, names have been omitted to protect the inn-...nevermind.

Anyhow, I'm hanging out in lower Jeuno, and there is this warrior I know. This person is in my linkshell and is a level 40 warrior. All the sudden I see this in LS chat:

<member>: What is enmity for?
<Lecan>: ........................................

I nearly died laughing. I'm not suprised this person wasn't such a good WAR >.>, glad I took this person under my wing and decided to teach them the intricacies of the job (as best as a BST can :P)

the AH is another thing. just as the name is "auction" house. i figured there was real time bidding going on, so if i remember right, i think i put down everything i had on one item.

I was super excited when i first got my Warp1 scroll that I invited the
next person who /shouted for a warpII, and wasted 5 mins trying to
figure out why the hell i wasn't able to warp him. Needless to say, i gave
him a refund

Man i am still asking noob questions and i think my LS is getting sick of me. Almost everything i saw in there is whats this worth, that anygood, whats a nm and sooo many more

Hehe I didnt have very many n00b moments..
I watched a friend play and she taught me everything I needed to know...

One that I can remember, however, is that I always chain nuked until like Lv18 ._. BLM.

*sigh*

my first char was a blm and my friend tought me everything but my noobest moment was when i thought you could buy your own chocobo name it and ride into the cities with it, after 25 bagilion times of trying to enter the city i got off and walked int ><

My boss at work was playing FFXI for about a month, kept talking about it every day. He really wanted me to start playing, but at the time the game was $80 on top of the monthly fee - not something I could afford back then.

Well that wasn't a good enough answer for him so he bought the game for me. I eventually paid him back, but when someone gives you an $80 game just so you can play with them, you just don't say no. I took it home, installed it, and started the updates.

Alas, I logged in and created my character. We arranged a place to meet on the phone, then hung up so we could get moving. I found him in Bastok Mines just in front of the main gate. There was a high-level RDM walking with him, which I found a bit surprising. Oh well, let's just go kill shit.

10 minutes later, after following "him" around in S Gustaberg, he calls me up.

"Where are you?"

"Right behind you, I've been following you for 10 minutes."

"I've been standing here in Bastok for 20."

...

"You're on my server, right?"

...

Hitch: the person I was following was in the same situation - they were waiting there for their friend who just started, who was also on the wrong server. Not to mention I kept trying to invite that high-lv RDM to our party, even after his reply: "I can't. You won't get any exp."

Oh yeah... and WAR30/WHM12 using a Great Sword. The pinnacle of my WAR career.

Ha! I bow to none of those pansies... well... ok, maybe a few. Only like 10 or 11 though.

No, my boss (ex-boss, found a better job about a year ago) has long since quit the game. He only got to level 14 before he got sucked into the gardening scene, where he actually made a handsome load of money (for someone that low of a level).

When he quit, I offered to exchange him a case of beer for his Playonline ID & password... which he accepted. Does that make me a gilbuyer? If so, I think I got screwed... $16 for less than 250k.
