Hello,

I am just curious. I seem to be seeing so many threads being locked recently and am curious as to why. I understand those thread that become innappropriate, threatening to an individual or contain pornographic materials but the thread below made me

Now, I don't really care what happens much in Flameboard area as I personally think that area ruins peoples reputation and standing with the community but I am just curious why the thread got locked only for the reason being

No offence to Neo as he is a lovely guy but I immediately thought, "So what if it is?". Furthermore, even if it was covered in another thread, a link to it would have been helpful. Also, are you stating that the previous thread be searched into and continued just to stay on topic (and doesn't get locked). That's a little bit rediculous when it is easier for a poster to speak their mind from clicking the "New Thread" button.

At the end of the day, this is a discussion board and for people to do just that. I doubt its a "waste of database space when the topic exists already" reason to which I would be shocked and disappointed to hear. Again, so what?

I am just wondering what is going on with all the locking. It never used to be like this and it's not only happening in the Flameboards. I suppose you guys have your reasons but please state more than the quote above. It's only fair to the writers and readers.

I'll laugh if this gets locked.

Have you tried sending a pm to neophytal and inquire why the thread was locked rather than merged or just left open?

If you have other examples that you wish to point, ill be happy to look them over and see if this is as big an issue as your suggesting.

Freedom on the internet is a myth, somewhere sometime you are going to run into rules and regulations made up by people and if you dont follow them expect to find it alot harder to function in that domain.
 
Play the game, talk on the boards, leave the modding to the mods. It's not as though anywhere else on the internet any administration would give a damn or even give you more than a form to fill out about whatever you don't like and even at that it falls on deaf ears. QCDN should be no different and the fact that it is only propagates the problems around here both with unruly users and percieved over-enforcement of the rules.

Just for good measure 'It never used to be like this' my ass, it's been far worse on numerous occasions throughout the board's history.

You people have fucked up how this place has been run for entirely too long now with this kind of crap. Find something interesting to talk about.

If i see another comparison to modding around here to the nazi movement i swear to fucking god i'm going to go find a kitten to step on.

honestly, there was a thread that went on for pages about guy/girl/mithra/manthra etc etc... i mean do you really need that again?

the problem is with most of those threads, and even the serious flames, is that after awhile, it becomes a picture fest and PC+1 gallery.

its fine if you want to have a conversation, but did you even check the previous thread and what happened? it was closed with this ending:

People who compare a moderator actually doing their job to the nazi's are fucking idiots. Saying that locking a thread that should be locked is the same as starting a war and killing millions, makes you retarded. There is no actual link between the two, idiots just say they're the same without any understanding of either.

The only reason people are bitching about this is they grew accustomed to mods not doing their jobs and the boards were largely unsupervised. Now they're actually enforcing the rules for once, and some people are too stupid to under stand that it's what they're supposed to be doing.

Given the time of my stay here and the ups and downs that have gone on it just drives me nuts at this point.

If no one was around to keep the shit in it's own piles and wipe posters noses you'd turn around and bitch about how there needs to be rules and structure and mods who do their work (Why hello thar Reeve/Sculli/Pup FB threads). It's ridiculous, childish, and simple minded.

This is not nor should it ever been a board where most of the content is about how the board is administrated or staffed. It's a board about varying subject matters concerning MMOs, gaming in general, and people who do/have played FFXI. Period. If you've got a question for a mod or administrator or disagree with something there's PMs do it there, chances your efforts will be more fruitful then posting your concern in public just for the attention so half the board can wet their diapers at the same time with you.

There's no right or wrong answer save this: Learn to love private messages if you really don't have alot to say worth a damn.

Take me for example. 90% of the threads i start go nowhere, hence i don't start threads anymore for the most part. Some of you need to get comfortable with the idea you're better contributors then originators.

If there are specific examples to cite that you would like me to check into please do so. I'd like to keep this thread focused on the issue and not discussion about internazis
