So I have this idea for a thread, and I think it could really take off. Similar to the Muuuuuuussiiiiiiic thread by Grem, I want you all to tell me what your votes are for favourite song, by any artist or genre, and I'll make a listing of the top ten favourites. (I'm pretty sure for a while there are only going to be ten entries, but we will see.) I'll update the top ten to reflect the previous weeks most popular.

The reason I'm doing this, is because maybe someone will take a look at QCDN's top ten, and check something out they may not have normally tried before. So I want to know, QCDN, whats good to listen to out there?

I'd like to keep the focus on new(er) music.

"One" Metallica - 2 votes
"Every Night's Another Story" The Early November - 1 vote
"Push It" Tool - 1 vote
"Crushcrushcrush" Paramore - 1 vote
"Organ Donor" Dj Shadows - 1 vote

Also, I want you all to answer a simple poll about your favourite genre!

I haven't been able to put down the new Paramore album, and I really dig the track "Crushcrushcrush".

I voted for Pop, but only because I love Dance Party Wednesdays.

I would have voted Oldies if it were on the list. Oldies need love too.

I wanted to keep the choices new, as do differentiate between Grem's post and this one. I wanted this to be a good pulse on whats new, that is popular with QCDN members.

A lot of music is regional, like the band "Big Wreck". They worked out of Boston, MA but I heard them on a canadian rock station, and never heard them on any american stations.

Stuff like that happens a lot, I'd hate to see what I'm missing out on. (or anyone else, for that matter.)

Until we get some more, I'm gonna throw a couple more out there.

Against Me! has a song called "Thrash Unreal." Also, Muse has an amazing song called "Supermassive Black Hole". Check 'em out.

Makes sense.

You ever think about satellite radio? I'm sure you could hear tons more stuff there.

No love for Gangsta Rap?

The Murda Murda Kappa Boyz will hear of this travesty.

On a serious note, Grunge rock is probably my favorite genre.

Alice in Chains and the Foo Fighters are probably my top 2 bands.

I agree. But if 10 people from QCDN are like "wow, I love this song too", I'd be more apt to venture out of my normal genre, and more likely to pay attention to lyrics or the sort.

Why is no one posting about any great new artists?

I'm an Alternative Punk guy. Like As Tall As Lions, The Early November, Battles, Bayside, Brand new, Circa Survive, Saosin, ANYTHING ANTHONY GREEN.

Yeah, my music choice depends on my mood.

I don't think I have any favorite "new artists." There's a lot of newer music I dig, but a lot of cds I've heard lately have one or two good songs and nothing else worth mentioning. (I know that's been the case forever, but it seems to happen most often during the last two years.)

My favorite artists: Cake, Destiny's Child, and 311.

-edit-

And Primus.

Is anyone reading my first post?

What would be a great new song to listen to if I wanted to get into some of these bands? I do like Saosin and Brand New, I've never heard of any of the other bands. Give me some examples!

PS: The pole is limited, I picked rock because its a broad genre, I like Alternative/post-hardcore/indie/emo/punk. IDK its hard to lump music into only 7 catagorys.

Speechwriters LLC - CLones, CHBB, BLood on the Frets, Spaghetti Streetwalker

No sarcasm, I'll update my first post later, I've gotta do at least a LITTLE bit of work today.

I have an iTunes queestion, is there a way to view all your artist/songs in a HTMLish format, so i can copypast all my song names and artists.

None of those?

How about some trance/techno. Out of those i guess id have to go with rock but i prefer trance music.
