Since it seems to have gotten lost...

1. Why won't my post's show up? ** [New Members] **

New users to the forum are temporarily placed in a group who's posts must all be approved by a moderator or an administrator. Why might we do such a crazy thing?

This defeats spam bots. That is all. We have no intent to censor legitimate posters, although if we see rule breaking posts before they are public we may just remove them.

This group is based on post count and after 10 approved posts, you will be moved out of the above user group, and be able to post as a standard user.

2. I can not send or receive personal messages. Why? ** [New Members] **

New users to the board, who are in the user group where the user's post count is less than 10, will have only enough space for 1 message in their PM box. This means 1. You can not have 1 received and 1 sent. You can only have 1.

To send another message, or be able to receive a message, delete the sent/received message. If you are in communication with an administrator or moderator, as a new user, delete your PMs to allow us to continuously reply with you via PM.

Why would we do this? Once again, this really dampens the effect PM'ing spam bots may incur on the population. We are looking for a work around to this, but as of yet - this is our temporary solution.

3. I posted something. Where did it go?

Did it break the rules? If you can say yes, then it has been deleted. You may even receive an infraction if it was severe enough. You may check your infractions in the user control panel.

If what you posted did not break the rules, and you are a new user, check FAQ Question #1.

If what you posted did not break the rules, it may be a bug. Shoot a moderator or admin a PM about if you feel it is necessary. (This should never be the case but it can happen.)

4. Where are the rules?

In many cases, the rules are listed as an announcement available to each forum. For example, the flameboard rules vary, if only slightly, from those of the Good Times board - ok, an exaggeration. They vary a lot. Please take note of this if you are a new member with us.

If there are no rules in the announcements, check the rules listed in Meet and Greet. They are a good guide for all boards you see here.

5. How does the Infractions System Work?

Good morning ladies, gentlemen, and Daryus.

The infractions system will be robustified on QCDN to automatically enable read-only browsing for repeated offenses, as well as apply temporary and permanent bans.

I can smell the shit already filling our pants. Fear not, young jedis, for our papal mod staff will have the ability to reverse these changes, as well as the ability to manually penalize users. Uhhhhhhuhuhuh... penal.

The mod staff will still be responsible for issuing infractions; however, the infractions system inherently tracks offenses (which we announced here we would be doing manually). This will alleviate some moderator overhead.

Every time an infraction is issued, the user receives a system-generated PM that may contain moderator input. Thus, relying on the infractions system means our users will also maintain records of their offenses in their own PM inbox.

The way it will work is quite simple. When you receive an infraction, you are awarded a certain number of points. If you break certain limits for point count, the system automatically places you as read-only, or bans you for X number of days. We are currently looking at 4 levels: 5-day, 15-day, 30-day, and perma. Point limit for each is being worked on.

Each infraction will also expire after a certain number of time. Infraction points will stack; infraction dates will overlap.

Example: I'm given two infractions: one for 30 points / 90 days, the other for 10 points / 15 days. My account will have a total of 40 points. After 15 days that will drop to 30 points, and after 90 days that will drop to 0 points.

We expect to have this system in place by the end of January. I'm leaving this thread open for questions. Whiners will be our guinea pigs.

In short, all infractions are automatically tracked by the system. We only issue the infraction for the offense, and your account will reflect the necessary recourse.

Why can't I post in the flameboard?

If you have less than 10 posts at QCDN your account does not have access. Say hi in Meet and Greet. Participate in the QCDN General Discussions. Pay a visit to Off Topic or Reality Sinks In.

How do I get an image in my signature?

Go to user CP -> Edit Signature. Once there, upload a signature picture then use the [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] in your signature to insert a signature picture.

What do the insufferable "+"s mean in "Who's Online" block?

Those members are members listed in your buddy (contacts) list.
