1)yeah whit great flames like I was on a noob pt in the dunes ( everyone was a noob before)
Ya know? I first discovered this website when 30 Whm was my highest job. I'll be honest - it site scared me.
It scared me into giving (even
more of) a damn about my gear.
It scared me into learning my job(s), and learning game mechanics.
Know what else it did? It showed me
how to get decent gear, and
what the roles and job mechanics were through the eyes of more experienced players.
It made me glad to see that if a poor white boy from Sandy played it straight, he'd at least earn points in the eyes of this community as a whole.
2) this person buys gil.... maybe if we dint make stupid flames about people that have bad gear because they are playing the right way or they dont have 700 lvl 75 friends to help them get better gear. Maybe that wont push people into buying gil
To be quite honest, I really believe that there are only two types of people who buy gil:
A) People who have little time to devote to playing. I'd expect that the folks that fall into this category will buy one big chunk once, level a craft/subcraft(s), then rely on it to provide their income going forward. This approach I can understand to a degree, even if I can't bring myself to condone it.
B) People who enjoy feeling "superior" to others, but have zero work ethics. These are the asshats that have absolutely no visible means of income, yet consistently have incredibly good gear. In my experience, these folks also tend to be impatient, borderline ADD dumbasses who couldn't find their ass with both hands and a flashlight.
In my estimation, if someone was gonna buy gil, they were going to do it whether this site existed or not. If someone wants to say otherwise, they're only lying to themselves.
