QCDN's Messed up priorities

Yes we all dislike gilsellers and buyers, there were threads on here a mile long about them and how they lower the quality of playing the game. Futher down the threads qcdn found it logical to ban links to gilselling and buying sites, but gilselling or buying is not illegal. It is neither harrassment of the games programming nor harrassment of any other individual's programming yet the links were still banned. Now i come to my point, I have noticed the this site provides links to what are deemed as illegal programs such bots, windower, radar, ect. that are specificaly targeted to FFXI and I am really wondering why. Does anyone else have a problem with this
 
I have a problem with people not earning what they get in general. Whether is be in a game or in real life.

I meant to note that they have not banned these links, then question why?

You bring up an interesting point Ark, for certain. But I do think it can be summed up as the difference between a) watching a friend not buckle up thier seat belt or b) watching a friend drink a case and get behind the wheel.

Although both are against the law, one harms other people while the other only endangers the one person.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but I think this sums it up best.


But again, you do bring up a valid point.
 
There are about two dozen posts with Sculli explaining the costs involved with running a site like this, and the reasons why he can't ban all the individual gil seller sites...

If you absolutely have to get rid of the advertising, start donating to Sculli so he can run the site without advetisements, because currently, without the revenue they generate, there is no QCDN

no, we got your point, you missed his. Sculli cant run this website without those ad's. Dont want them there? pay sculli and they'll vanish. He isnt putting those links up himself, Google AdSense is. It searches the text of the page, and puts up the highest paying links that match the words.
 
To me, it sounded like his point was... everyone bitched about having the gil seller ads up on qcdn... because people who buy gil are cheaters.

Yet he sees many links provided by players to other programs that are cheats.

Am I mistaken?
 
Meh, I could be... he never really said those links were provided by players, I guess I read to much into it since I just came from a post where someone provided a link to fraps, windower, and model viewer.

ah ok i understand so why not allow the removed links back on if that i the case
It's like saying its wrong to eat pork but its ok to eat beef, chicken, and fish. A dead animal is a dead animal if it wrong to eat one then its wrong to eat all of them

because he has to block each individual ad that shows up, and he can only block 200 total ads. and theres alot more than 200 sites that qualify as "hax or gilsellers"

On a note, when you posted that stuff about food, it changed to food ads :P

No advertising means no QCDN...

...and if you want to start insulting the religions of millions of people, you probably should start another flame...
 
I don't care about ads (Be it geico, mcdonalds, or IGE) to keep the site up.

But can we get rid of the hacker cheater bot ad? Sculli I know you can ask them not to allow a certain ad, you've done so in the past. Its just one ad, and it really ruins the sport of the game. Sure the guy who bought gil might have a harness he didnt earn but at least he isnt speedhacking. This site should not have links to those kind of sites. Its like a Girl Scout site with porno banners. Maybe they bring in revenue but it's just wrong.
 
id like to point out the other threads that were started about the same topic....quit bringing up old news
 
Those threads were about gillselling ads not hacking ads :/ I think there is a difference.
 
Everytime I load I get different ads... but I'm pretty sure that Sculli can only ban a certain number of ad groups, and that offending ads just keep popping up in new groups...
 
let me state something to you my friend.. WITHIN THE TERMS OF SERVICE!!! (you know.. that thing you agree to when you start the game) SE SPECIFICALLY states that the selling of items, gil or other such things online or in real life with the exchange of real money is strictly forbidden. In terms of bots they say that third party programs like bots are acceptable if you are at the computer while they run. As long as the third party program isn't completely fucking up with the server seems to be it >.> I don't see why you are ok with gilselling and buying (do you?) but botting and such third program parties are ok... I, frankly, find all of them to be cheating to use and stupid methods (other than windower cause that should be allowed in the first place in my opinion). And the adds he doesn't choose.. the Google Adsense does (as was stated before). whatever pops up pops up.
 
K i'm stupid, sorry Masterorion. That thread just got completely off the topic so fast we all forgot what it was initially about.

El, I don't support gilselling/buying/botting. I'm saying I realize the ads for that wont go away because sculli SAID they wont be going away so fine, so be it. But he can block the malicious cheat site if he wants. *shrug*
