Question about Gil

Hello everyone,

There are alot of people have over 30 mil. I barely make 100k per day, and I never had over 5 mil before. Where did they get all that gil? Did they actually buy gil or something? I don't understand....and confused...
 
Options include:

- insane amounts of farming
- buying gil
- being given gil by those who are leaving, and accumulating
- high-level crafting
- gardening
- fishing

Either way, I would think (read: hope) that a lot of the people that have an access of 10+ million gil are super productive high level crafters. We've got quite a few that post here on the boards that just craft the shit out of everything. Other people get lucky on high need/money drops. And then, of course, there are probably those that buy. Typically the buyers are pretty obvious, as you'll never see a filthy rich person selling or crafting anything.

All of this (the earned money) takes a huge amount of patience and ambition. If you keep working on it and spend/craft wisely I'm sure you'll get there eventually too. Hell, I'm still working on it myself XD That whole patience thing... *shrug*

In all seriousness though, people have made money tons of different ways over time. The Christmas spike of a couple years ago the economy was completely different, and some people stockpiled gil. Even Brady Games gives a good idea for accumulating mass amounts of gil. Find how to obtain the materials a crafter needs, and supply it to them.
In the past before everyone and their mother had sky access, sky farming was a huge money venture.
Before Phazen quit he made about 2.5M off of me in football gil gambling. There's tons of ways to make gil, as was mentioned earlier, it just takes patience, skill, and smarts and/or luck.
 
sorry for the derail but what morwen said is correct, it's pretty easy to tell, but there's plenty of ways to making gil and stretching every seemingly useless item that drops off a mob.

a while back the gilsellers made the economy inflate so much that things that cost 20k gil now used to be 20 mil so alot of crafters or lucky people with drops got a nice payday and were able to save alot

OP: In all seriousness, I've never had more then 945k at one time, and this was for like, 1 day or so (maybe less). I spend pretty much as soon as I can buy/upgrade. As it was said, for some people they stockpiled during inflation, didn't play the game for months, and basically came back rich. This sort of happened to me (The little I had stretched even further) and a friend of mine saving up for Hauby while it was 10mil came back and bought the Hauby, better DD gear and still had money left over.

Sidenote: I spent all my gil on tarutaru dances. :(
 
While i'm sure a couple of crafter of "high level crafter" have 20millons+ i don't think a lot do. If you actually do crafting you'll notice 2 things quite quickly :

1) You need a huge amount of money to access 95+ and even more for 100. There is basically no way to make 15 millions with low level recipe. Therefore you need an alternate way to do money.

2) When you finally reach the top you notice that all tier I,II or III recipes are broken cos a lot of crafters have that level already, and as long as people are happy to make 10-50k profit on recipe that'd make 3 days to sell, they will cut the price on you.

Only tier0 are left : expensive recipes, rare HQ ; that's all about luck. Anyway you cannot hope to craft 50+,100+ tier0 recipe w/o already having money ...
