Question about Gil

Methinks you shop too much. :)

lol, I do! As soon as I get the gil in the delivery box, it's usually headed right back out in the form of gear upgrades or crafting supplies. I use to farm a lot, but I don't farm too much anymore. Most of my money comes from my sky shell.

Got a Dcloth off an ODS run the other day.. Already thinking of ways to spend that money lol. I sitll need a couple of snipers... lol.

I'm trying to save up till I have about 20 mil then I'm going crazy and pimping out my jobs.

Yeah, 11 ODS runs and only a V Claw and a D Cloth to show for it. I don't think I've had a worthwhile drop on a KS or BS run in like a year. You just got {Luck}. Grats again dude lol.

Thanks, lol. I'm sure tonight in assault we'll get about 3 hi-pots tanks, which will of course all drop to me! lol. I make alot of money from those stupid assault drops.

I would, but it seems that a couple of sneaky tarus always get the high lots! And of course you with your high lots on those hi potion tanks. All those damn things, I swear I better never hear about you dying!

Back when sky =ed money, I had about 6mil and average about 1mil. I have no reason to hold onto gil, normally have about 50k on me. I do farm for myself, my sister, and bro-n-law, so when I do get a lot, its gone quick.

Some people sat on gil when they "quit", and just recently came back to an economy with lower prices.

I've had a total of 4 close friends quit the game and they left me with some pretty nice gear and some gil before they left. 2 of which returned to the game and luckily they didn't ask for anything back lol - Thanks Lewser and Steve ^^ (everyone always come back).

Also some people have really bad luck with BCNMs and KSNMs but for me I've been really lucky. I always do Under Observation with Friskiekitty and I shit you not we average 1/3 on PCCs. One time we actually went 0/3 on drops only because the run before we went 2/3 for drops o.O.

But what kept me sane while making gil is don't keep doing the same thing. Sure you can farm whatever for weeks on end and eventually make a few mil but you will go crazy. Switch it up to keep things somewhat entertaining. Craft/Farm/Fish/BCNM and whatever else people have been mentioning. This will save your brain in the end.

Friskie if you see this...All ur beastmen sealz r belongz to me!

You obviously haven't seen Shmedly or Trippy lot, lol. Come hang around us for assault tonight, you'll see what I'm talking about O.o

I've seen Shmedly lot. I've seen me lot too. He knows Stine and I come up with a whole lot of double-digit lots :\

When it comes down to it, your options for making money are really somewhere on a sliding scale of:

- Sell something for high profit, but it won't sell terribly fast, and you won't get it terribly often.
- Sell something for low to moderate profit, but it'll sell fast, and you can get lots of it relatively easily.

This applies both to crafting (rare HQs vs. consumables) as well as enemy hunting (shiny NM/BCNM drops vs. stuff like crafting ingredients), as well as to any other source of income you can think of. Some things do still have better gil/time ratios than others, of course (those insect wings will never be in high demand), but the above is the general rule.

So when looking into money-making ways, average gil/time ratio is what you should be concerned with. While it's possible to, say, get lucky and get a PCC on your first and only Under Observation run (which would, naturally, be a big and pleasant gil/time ratio)... Under Observation, *overall*, doesn't have that impressive a ratio because of the low drop rate. It's just as easy - and much more likely - to go a *lot* of runs with nothing to show for it, which would give the BC a dreadful gil/time ratio. That's why the average is important, not the exceptional cases of really lucky or really unlucky people.

If there exists anything where it sells fast and you can get a lot of it easily *and* the profit margin is high... needless to say, once it's "discovered", the market balances itself out (since then lots and lots of people will do that, supply will outstrip demand, and prices will fall).

Have absolutely nothing to buy, but tons of things to sell when the economy sucks, and just sit on the mound of gil forever. A majority of the "rich" characters today made that money back when things were fucking nuts in price.

Christmas 2005, I had 10 mil that I made exclusivly from mining and smithing.

Darksteel ores were selling for 50k a pop. A stack of ingot would be as much as 650k.

I bought a Snow Ring for 5 mil, the next week, they went down to 4 mil. Couple of weeks later, 3 mil, couple of weeks later 2 mil.

I bought a lot of my gear during that period of rediculous inflation. I paid more for an Errant Haupalaude (900k) than what a Weskit is worth now. (20k). I paid 4 mil for my Weskit. I (and Tyrath) really wish I had held on to that money till prices went down. But as they say, hind sight is always 20/20.

I wish I made 100k a day. Then again, I don't farm one iota. I take the crystals that I get from exping, and depending on the crystal, I level a little bit of that craft.

I'm satisfied with my gear, I'm satisfied with the gil I have (~2 mil for mine and Neo's accounts). Most of our gil goes to his gear.

I just made my millions from buying items and gear at low price on people that just want to get rid of it, and i sell it high in the AH and make huge profit from it. A good day is when someone is shouting, selling their food that they skilled up on and they sell it for low.

lol sorry for making mistakes, 100k per day was 3-4 months ago. lol, I hardly make 30-40k per day with the current economy.

Hello everyone,

There are alot of people have over 30 mil. I barely make 100k per day, and I never had over 5 mil before. Where did they get all that gil? Did they actually buy gil or something? I don't understand....and confused...

I think the legit gillionaires have done the following:

1. Gotten really lucky with something, for instance the Up in Arms BCNM or randomly HQ'd Kyudogi or something (See Sanoske)

2. Were really groundbreaking and were the only ones in their field. Examples include gardening elemental ores when the recipes were unknown, being 100 Goldsmithing in the first few years of the game, etc.

3. Were a part of an HNM shell for a long, long time. These guys who have all the rare/ex gear tend to have awesome buyable gear as well (See Fygla); I'm not sure if that's because they're just driven people, or if they actually get their assloads of gil from HNM.

Or, they do something bad like buy gil or lead an endgame shell corruptly. I have a feeling this category is much more common.

This is an awesome way to make a quick buck. A little while ago I made a mil in about 2 minutes of work. This was when Triumph earrings were still going for 2 mil each. The thing about this is make sure the item is in somewhat of a high demand otherwise you may be stuck with something that you don't need for a very long time.

Also you could try and catch undercutters on the AH. For example, if you see something like 10 Leaping Boots up for sale chances are someone is undercutting. Start bidding low and keep going higher until you find it is not worth it to relist and make profit. I once got a Puissance Ring +1 for 1k when they were going for 400k. I rarely ever do this, just when I'm bored out of my mind and sitting in Whitegate with absolutely nothing to do.

Both are really easy ways to make a decent amount of gil but you should never rely on these methods as a main source of income.
