Question about Mandibular Bite

okay this is the first BLU spell Ive noticed that does this, but every time I use it when I activate chain affinity and my TP is 100%+, it drains it all (of course it does do quite a bit more damage.) But, is this supposed to happen? Im aware its damage is supposed to vary with TP, but most BLU spells do, and dont drain it all. Are there any other BLU spells that do this?

Chain affinity makes any physical blu spell consume whatever TP you have to do added damage, and makes it part of the skillchain tree so that you can solo or group skillchain. Using chain affinity and then a magical blu spell doesnt consume TP because youre not actually using chain affinity (magical blu spells are increased by burst affinity.) The difference in the spells is shown by the icon, physical blu spells are just a yellow mass, magicals have their elemental type color as the icon (and in auto-sort physicals go to the top and magicals rearrange by element at the bottom of the list.)

Also, to clear up a misconception you seem to have (that unfortunately, a lot of people have): physical spells that say something varies with TP don't vary with TP every cast. They only vary with TP *if you use Chain Affinity with them*. Having a bunch of TP and saving it so your spells will do more damage does not work, because TP only affects them with Chain Affinity in effect.

okay, thanks you two. I was just wonderinf about the TP loss, because I was trying to self SC last night, but by using a spell first (which I cant do, I now know, hahah)

You an always solo an SC by using a sword WS first then using a chain affinitied physical spell after it. A good early example of this would be using Red Lotus Blade > Jet Stream = Fusion. You should use Chain Affinity before the sword WS so you'll lessen the chance of missing the SC.

I think the only way I'm going to fully undestand blu...is if i were to try out the job for myself. We all know that I do NOT have enough money to fund another job lawl.

ya I know, but I was trying to start a certain SC that I couldnt do unless I started it with a spell, used a club, or had someone else end the SC.

Impaction - Mandibular Bite + Flat Blade

I dont have circle blade yet, and Im not even wanting to use it as a WS because of it being dangerous, and its the only WS (not counting club) that will SC with Mandibular Bite using a WS first.

the most common build on BLU is to equip it with the armor and such you used as THF. If you have that armor, it wont be very expensive at all, I dont think. Not til higher levels, when you gotta BUY your af, hahah... Or farm synth items

I did that over the summer with corsair during inflation (200k a peice, kudos to crafters nonetheless). 200k wasn't a lot back then..
