im tryin to figure out how to do all this shit again on ps2... i think i just need the games and a hardrive and thats it... hut i may need some utility disc or some crap... i dunno... if anyone has info on what i need exactly to do it lemme know... or if u have a ps2 with it on and dont need it i can buy it off ya....

anyway nice talkin to you guys again. cya in game maybe... we ll see if i figure it out.. if not see ya on 14...

You will need the ps2 hard drive, and a copy of each expansion. The hard drive has FFXI and the Zilart expansion on it. Basically just do the initial setup, then load each ps2 disk and run the install prompts. I bought two ps2 hard drives when they came out. I still have the second in box with the drive unopened. I don't remember if I used the registration code when I created a second account, or if I used the one from my xbox 360 version.

Ok. I can since I started on PS2.

You need the hard drive (as well as a FAT ps2. You can't install FFXI or the HDD on the thin ones. No place to put it.). Utility disk is nice, get if you can. If the hdd is used, MAKE SURE you got the utility disk; you don't know where that HDD has been/what condition it's in and you will have to reformat(because it was in another system). Also get a cheap USB kb; you don't have to get a gamer keyboard but for heavens sakes, get one. The onscreen just SUCKS. I think this is the one we got. You want a cheapy since like controllers, the thing gets thrown around and stepped on(at least in our house it does), so you want to be able to not throw a fit if it breaks on you.

Also you'll need the disks. If you don't have full disks, comb ebay for the last PS2 collection; that is VERY hard to find since they didn't print a lot of them.

Gomenasi tho about selling you ours though. Ours is not for sale; 'neko still plays FFXI on the PS2.

I know what you mean Honcho. I miss playing on PS2 myself (Was nice being able to laze on the couch while playing), tho if you must go PC; a suggestion, check around for a USB controller adapter for a Dual Shock 2. If you're like me, you were used to using the controller AS WELL as the keyboard. If you go that route, ask me again and I'll post up my controller config. The default ones DO NOT mimic the PS2 version at all, you need to tweak it to get it to play right.

However, PC does have better graphics, which I've come to like. So that part I don't miss. Each to his or her own tho.

Also I don't know HOW to do this (maybe someone more knowledgeable can put up links and stuff) but I understand you can use a Dual Shock 3 on a PC too. I'd like to know myself in case the adapter I got breaks. ^^

No problem. Let me know if you need the controller config, I can take a screen without a problem. ^^

hi honco this is eli's brother. I'm just gonna add something here:

Used install disks aren't really a problem as there are other places to get codes. You can buy the "ultmate collection" for $20 for PC and steal the codes out of it(yes they work on the PS2) and this also has the added bonus of unlocking three of the add-on scenarios(sorry no abbyssa). I've kept all my disks and my PS2 but they are not for sale. Also and backwards compatible PS3 works too but I got sick of the emulator glitches and hangups so I quit doing that...

i think the disc hes lookin for is the utility disc for the hdd for the ps2. if i remember right you need that to configure the hdd too your ps2 if its been configured to someone elses before. im pretty sure i couldnt use my wifes ps2 with my hdd when i tried it before.

I heard if you delete POL and reinstall it the game works but maybe that was just if you had to swap the network adapter?

you dont need to delete anything to use another network adapter, mine took a crap before and i took my boys. im pretty sure when you plug in the hdd its tied to the ps2 you put it in unless you reconfigure it.
