Question about Sekkanoki

Not sure if this has been answered already, but does anyone know how the calculations on Sekkanoki works when you are breaking a latent off the Tachi of Trials? I was going to solo Colibri and was wondering if I opened and closed my own SC (let's say Fragmentation, for example)..would I get 4 points? (1 opening, 1 closing, 2 for lvl2 SC?)

I was told that closing your own skillchain yields 1 point regardless of it's level way back when I was doing the WS quest. I never really tried to verify it, I just grabbed a friend for a couple of hours and banged out the WS points I needed. The TP involved in your WS is irrelevant for points, so I don't think it would effect one way or the other. With Sekkanoki, you could just get two friends and increase the speed of your skillchains for your points as well.
 
I don't think I've heard anything about the 1 point thing Baja mentioned, but it very well could be the effect. If you get it right away it's not a horrible Katana for its level, but I'd suggest only if you exp with friends or go out with a friend or two, especially if the other friend is another SAM. Why self-SC when you can spam multiple SCs super fast with another SAM ^^

Basically go with Baja's advice on this <.<
 
Not sure how that would work, but I'd assume just the one point. Although, perhaps you've already figured this out... Colibri are not your best mob for WS points.

Lol thanks guys. I don't know what was up with my post in retrospect. I did mean to say Crabs in kuiftal not Colibri..also my calculation was a little off.

You'd get 1 point for it, you have to do it with others.
You can duo it with me if you want, just set up a time if you can't find anyone! I usually sit in game all the time, regardless of whether or not I'm there.
 
well i looked at the guide on ffxiclopedia and I have no reason to believe that sekkanoki will not work with the WS point calculations so basicaly if you open and close a level 2 WS you should aquire 4 points. 1 point for opening/soloing a WS and 3 points for closing a level 2 skillchain.

I tried it myself and kept count, so either my count was incorrect, or it doesn't work by yourself.
