Question about Tactics Pearl quest!

Okay I am about to do the Emptiness quest with my NPC buddy. I figured I'll go Nin/Whm to be safe but I have a dillema.
I static ninja ONLY with a friend and we are within 8 exp of eachother. I am very happy with this and so comes my question;
The formula for Emptiness EXP bonus for NPC is as follows

Floor1:
Total XP = (Mobs Killed x 40) + (300)

Can I call for help, kill 48 of them this way, click the ??? and still complete the quest/get exp for NPC on the quest completion or not?

Odd question but I really have to know before I go inside, otherwise I have to buy a GKT and do it as Sam which will be much harder with no Utsu.

Nope. Any mobs CFHed don't give XP nor count towards things such as the Blade of Death quest, or Tonberry/Akpallu hate. Pretty sure it also doesn't* count towards beating quest NMs if you CFH them as well.

Go ahead and CFH the mobs. I don't know if your NPC will get credit for the kills or not (likely not), but it sounds like your main concern is to *not* get exp yourself. You can successfully do the emptiness investigation thing even if you don't have a single kill. All you have to do is get to the ??? and click it for a CS without getting aggro'd. (Of course, this usually translates to killing stuff...)

Oh, and ... NPCs chew through Empty like a knife through hot butter. You can basically just pull an Empty, hit it once to get the NPC beating it up, then stay engaged and move away and let the NPC solo it without breaking a sweat. So you can do this quite easily on *any* job.

Well, if it's something like a Gorger you may have to help the NPC a bit, maybe a few cures. I usually get my Tactics Pearl as an unequipped WHM, don't have any trouble.

I'm 99.9% sure you won't get credit, because CFH eliminates any XP/gil/items rewarded because there's no designated claim. If it gave your NPC credit for the kill, it'd hafto give every NPC in the general area credit for the kill, and this would hafto apply to every other thing that CFH effects, which I already covered.

If CFH gave a reward of any kind to people being in the general area, it could be abused far too easily.

Fair enough, so your NPC probably *doesn't* get credit for the kills. On the bright side, as I already said, it's a moot point because you're not obligated to kill anything (other than clearing the ??? of aggro). Your NPC won't get as much exp if you don't kill anything but it'll still get *some* exp, and you'll still get the Tactics Pearl afterward, back in town.

Thanks to all responses! I ended up just swathing a path to the ??? (four kills before I thought to CFH ><) so I will let her kill an EP and we will be okay.

Holla is probably the easiest for avoiding fights. You must fight 1 or 2 weepers that stand on top of the first floor ??? though. But if someone else is there getting thier pearl, you can just check the ???. Fights aren't necessary for completing the quest, but just provide basically a bonus session for exping your NPC.
