What do they actually do? I've yet to witness any effects from the PLD's, DRK's, SAM's and DRG's job abilities which grants resistance to a specific type of monster (Undead, Arcana, Demon and Dragons respectively). Versus the correct type of monster, do you get extra DEF when fighting them, or something?

I just had a party yesterday in Kuftal fighting Ladons, Cocks, and Tigers. If I remember right, the party started out as NIN, RDM, WHM, BLM, MNK, WAR. The melee were taking pretty harsh damage from the Ladons. The WAR disconnected so we fought Tigers and Cocks for about 30-45 minutes waiting for him. We finally decide to get a 6th so I invite a DRG. He used Dragon Killer when we fought Ladons and amazingly enough, the melee got much much less damage than before.

Before the DRG vs. Ladons : I was curing NIN, MNK, and WAR an average of 3500 HP per fight all together.

With the DRG vs. Ladons : I was curing NIN, MNK, and DRG an average of 500 HP per fight all together.

[Taken off of parser and rounded]

I'm not sure exactly what it does but I know it helps a ton.

Dragon Killer? Do you mean Ancient Circle? Dragon Killer is a job trait which intimidates dragons.

Ancient circle grants dragon killer to the party.

I used it against the rank 2-3 dragon and had everyone intimidating it. :P

From what I noticed, and I could very well be wrong, this is just an observation. That there is varying tiers of "killer effects". When you use Warding Circle for instance, you "Gain a resistance against Demons." Which basically adds a chance that you and your party members that were close to you, a chance to intimidate, or paralyze, a demon you happen to be fighting. The other Tier to the killer effect is an attack bonus, "Demon Killer" gives me a pretty good Attack bonus Vs. demons, idk how much exactly, but is seems in the range of about 10-15%. Now Items that "Enhance Killer Effect" Have a dual role.(Again from observation) 1) if you have an existing Killer trait, it adds more of a chance at intimidating your foe, and a little more to your attack bonus. 2) if you do not have the job trait inhearantly, then you just get a greater chance at 'intimidating' your foe.

They don't help a *lot,* but they do help some.

For example, I intimidate undead fairly frequently with my natural undead killer trait and even more when I throw up a Holy Circle.

By the same token, while IT mobs still can sleep me, it doesn't last as long because of resist sleep. By the same token, take note of how much of a pain in the butt it is to sleep a PLD mob. Even if it does land, they wake right back up.

on 5-1 whm pld sam drg rdm
i was pld did holy circle the AOE from the main mob did not alot of damage but was killing his litlte minons so it works
