Question for tomahawk and Angon.

Do these take Throwing skill to use properly? I noticed on Somepage tomahawks have no DMG on them at all, or delay.
EDIT: Does it do damage as well, or simply lower def?

No, it does not relate to throwing skill. (Angon doesn't anyway.)

Agreed, angon can't be used as a throwing weapon either, they seem to just be equipped tools, somewhat like nin tools. Very likely that the tomahawks are the same way.
 
So the best way to imagine it would be like

Armor break and Mental break with Auron of FFX? Only they use tools like a nin?

worked for me. The good news is you don't lose tp for the switch since they're ammo slot. The bad news is its tough to guage how much the def. down effect is, only had a short time to experiment though.
second /wait might only need to be 3 seconds, not sure, like I said only experimented a little bit.

Edit: Another plus is that since its JA and not RA, you're not gonna accidentally toss your bomb core
 
This seems like a complete cop out. If it's just a defense down effect and no real damage, then I already have and use xbow/acid bolts for the same effect. I notice a larger improvement with acid bolts versus a Bomb Core so I prefer it especially when I am pulling (although RNG nerf makes landing a hit impossible these days). I mean it's nice if I can use the tomahawk then switch without loss of TP, but if it's has a long delay, then it doesn't seem all that worth it.
 
But does your xbow/acid bolts lower "special defense" or just defense? Cause Tomahawk lowers special defense......whatever that means. XD

Angon is the one that lowers physical defense.

You don't need a wait macro between equiping and ability if the equipment is before the ability. Just a tip incase they release any gear that improves it in the future, so you don't have to multi-macro it.
 
The Angon can't possibly be based on Throwing skill, as DRG never has and still doesn't even have one to begin with. I'd assume Tomahawks work the same way.

I had just assumed physical defense until you pointed out the wording...interesting. I'll keep ya posted with my experiments, I immediately followed the first Tomahawk with a 1327 Rampage on an EP Colibri, but those could happen anyway, gonna take a lot more experimentation to figure out when/what special defense down would be useful. I had just assumed Angon was the same wording, but there's no special in the JA description for that, so hmmmm....

I'm pretty sure that means that you use up a Tomahawk to inflict a special defense down effect, not a special defense down effect.

Even so, compare the wording to Angon. Its just "Defense Down effect" for Angon, where as Tomahawk is "A special defense down effect"

Begs to wonder what the difference is.
 
next question, does it do any damage? I would think it better.. since i'm throwing an AXE into an enemy XD
 
They have no damage stat associated with them.

Only message on the screen was "Jamal uses Tomahawk" I took off the filter for misses as well, so it didn't say I missed. After the message displayed, there was a loud whop sound. I tried to wait to see if the effect would wear off, ie if you use Full Break, you'll know when certain of the debuffs you inflict wear off, however I caught thf fomor aggro and had to run...Like i said, i'll experiment more when at home, was pretty tired after meriting 3 more hours after the update.


No direct dmg done either Olrox, pretty shadey that you can throw an axe at something and not dmg it, especially when Mamools can toss an axe at me for 400 dmg lol
