Question: HappyAngel Ls, theifs, scumbags? Answer: yep

ok, so I'm new here. Big whoop. I just have to say~ this has got to be the silliest thread I've ever read & I had a lot of fun reading it. Watching people get so worked up over the most inane things is great entertainment while I'm camping something. I'm well aware that my opinion matters not one stitch to anyone here, but I'd like to give a huge thanks to everyone who added momentum to this rolling ball of crap you all call a flame. Keyboard warriors are the cutest things ever. I want to hug them all.

just a quick note>.> i know some of you downplayed theflock killing jormy...

i think thats kinda dumb... it is a pretty good accomplishment especially for a LS thats not even HNM centered.. and if it's so easy then go out and do it. ya you can say ' oh loljormy i dont want to.. its been done a billion times' but hey if its so easy.. go do it.. screenshot it.. and tell me how easy it was...better yet... get your alliance up the mountain easily first then give me an update lawl:P just a simple challenege. take it if you will.. i know no one has to prove anything to anyone... but dont downplay someones accomplishment... i know theflock doesnt sit at night and plan to do stuff like this just waiting for someones praise..

it was always done out of fun

anyway.. im not trying to continue any bashing either way... just a simple challenege O>O

Interesting discussion.

I joined TheFlock as a level 20ish Beastmaster. At the time, I had just returned from a hiatus from the game, and I knew little about TheFlock other than that I had a few friends from my Samurai static party (Manasha, Weaponslayer, Godofdeath) that were prominent in the shell. At the time, TheFlock was a close-knit group of about 20-25 people who mostly just dabbled with doing sky and some easy HNMs whenever they felt like it, more for the fun of using their Beastmasters than anything else. There wasn't a ton of drama or anything, for the most part. Dejan insisted on keeping the highest level profile that we could, since he was very aware of how a single incident at a camp or in sky, or backtalking to other shells, could reflect badly on the LS as a whole.

My opinions regarding server migration were well-known in TheFlock right before it began. I was about level 50 by then, and I was told perhaps 15-20 BSTs would be joining us from LotB, an all-BST shell on Shiva. I was concerned, however, since I envisioned a flood of people from this new linkshell crowding out up-and-coming BSTs such as myself, and providing longer lines for gear and such. I was also worried that TheFlock would lose its close-knit atmosphere. Manasha and Dejan had put a lot of effort into promoting TheFlock on Alla and other multiple-server sites, but no one seemed to expect that, instead of merging with a single other all-BST linkshell, we got a flood of people from across all servers.

For the first few weeks after server migration, the linkshell was packed to bursting with new faces, some of whom brought substantial egos with them. Some were lone BSTs who couldn't get into endgame shells on other servers because they were just lolBST; some had multiple endgame jobs but wanted to use their BST in endgame, only to be repeatedly told no by their endgame shell; some were loners just looking to hang out with other BSTs. Some came over in their own friend groups and linkshell groups already. The clash of egos, preconceived notions about how the game is played, and the combination of so many people joining the shell at the same time made things in the shell a lot less fun for me personally. Even small things like a packed Vent server indicated the problem--no one could talk without being lost in the sea of new voices. When I mentioned on TheFlock's forums that we shouldn't just invite over anyone who applied, and that we should consider closing recruitment, a lot of the server transfers (especially from LotB) disagreed with me. Bigger was better, they said.

So, I busted my ass to get to BST75 so I could participate in our endgame system. Of course, with the addition of 70+ new transfers, the lines for gear were long, and sky quickly became a multiple-alliance event. The close, family-like atmosphere was gone; leadership was rapidly vanishing; the few leaders that tried to take charge were quickly overwhelmed by the scope of things and by stress. I had a front-row seat to the effort of corralling 40+ people in sky taking its toll on Manasha and Thefonz. Then, it began to dawn on me that this was not what I had signed up for when I joined TheFlock, and not what I wanted from my FFXI experience. After Thefonz left, I took a break from the LS myself. I still pop on from time to time, and recognize very few of the people on.

Mish has it right--TheFlock is nothing like it used to be, and this troubles and saddens me. I wish things would magically go back to the way they were, but this isn't likely to happen. To my fellow BST brothers posting in this thread, I don't think you guys are really helping your cause here, and it's probably better to take some of the things that Jamal and the others are saying to heart. This is the Flameboard, yes, and they are being caustic in their replies, but the truth is that the burden of proving ourselves and maintaining a good linkshell reputation is on us. And it's easier to maintain that sort of reputation from TheFlock's old attitude than from a pugnacious, defensive, us-vs.-the-world tack that I've seen in this thread and others across the Flameboard.

Reading through this thread along with all the other TF threads that have popped up recently, I myself, even though I have had little to no association with TF, did come to think that you guys should have dome something along those lines. Even though I do get what Mana tried to do by not excluding anyone from TF because as BST you guys are in a sense 'loners' meaning that you do solo/duo for you exp and unless you have another job leveled endgame shells don't really want you. But you should have had some sort of background checks on some of the newer members of the shell. I understand that would of been extremely difficult considering how many had come in from different servers.

As I had previously stated even though I have had little to no experience with TF I did come to see that your shell isn't the same as it once was. I remember back before I quit I used to hear great things about TF from a couple BST that were in my main shell. I used to hear how you guys were a big group of friends who had no problems with anyone and just did what made you happy in this game. Unfortunately the server transfer has kind of weakened that bond you have had across the server. A lot of the original members of the shell have left and imho, it's those people who make the shell. Sure you can go and grab another 20 people to fill the gap of that one person, but it will never be the same.

I understand this as I was one of the founding members of my friends shell way back when and I saw how after a couple of the first members of the shell left everything sort of fell apart. Their was constant fighting and I was barely ever in the shell anymore because those people who I had started playing FFXI with, who I had known since my first week of this game, had no longer been apart of my main interaction.

Well that is mah two cents.

Kreoss you haven't been in the shell in months.... nor has Mishaela

So to express your opinion like your an insider on to the state of TheFlocks health is unwarranted...

Just because TheFlock isn't what you want it to be doesn't mean its crumbling apart...

Since her return in August Manasha has handled all the adversity of leaders moving on to "better things", "conflicts of personality" and "down right duochebaggery from evildoers who transfered to commit crimes" all while not missing a single Sky or Sea or even an O-hat run scheduleding...

Manasha has rallied TheFlock through inspiration and leadership into an organized and fiercely loyal core of quality players...

TheFlock runs better than ever in Sea and Sky

HNM's arent really on the menu but we catch one here and there...
(to get KB tongue for Weaponslayers BB)

We are kindhearted LS having fun playing the game... We have to weed thru morons like everyone else...

Happy Angel is one of the more respectable shells on the server, you lost claim and it went yellow, that's what you get for leveling a lame job /crymoar

By the way they got the ring too hahaha

Nice adding salt to injury.

Personally, I think it is all about your own perspective. People who have done many HNM will not treat jormy as a superb experience. But if one day I am to join a HNM and kill Jormy for the first time, I will definitely shout "YEAH!". To me, and only me, it is a first victory and is a mark in my history of Vandiel. Don't bother with what people say. Do what you feel but don't try to boast it too ^^. If you tell me you kill it for the first time, I will be happy for you. But, if you tell me everytime you kill it, i will just tell you to shut up.

PS: I don't know TheFlock and I have not beat jormy before. I am happy with theflock winning jormy but just stating the contradiction between the vid and what Xenorex stated.

Let. Thread. Die.

kthx.
