Question to other Dynamis LS's

Artem said:
Meta, stop flamebaiting, noone agrees with you in this thread. Courtney's point was that after 4 years of endgame most people have 2-3 upwards of 9-16 jobs to choose from to go to dynamis. Yes, there are some new comers, but noone discriminates against them. They are accepted into linkshells too. The point is that most people have one of the "fast killing" jobs at this point (ie war, nin, mnk, blm) or have a mage type. They usually come as those jobs instead of the DRG they leveled for fun at one point or another, as to finish dynamis faster.

While yes it's possible to get the minimal of every job to do dynamis, it is usually more efficient in speed to do with a larger base of "fast killing" jobs. The point isn't how many jobs of each thing you have, it's if you have a rewarding system to distribute the items. If they are all just purely luck lotting than people will leave. If it's purely attendance points (so new people will never catch up to the core players), people will leave. Also it takes a little respect from people, one shouldn't lot a xarc piece for a job they finished leveling 3 days ago over someone who had it for a long time and attends the runs often, but did not start at the same time. Be considerate, and act like an LS, not like a bunch of greedy people that want to go around saying they have 5/5 AF2.

Newsflash, 5/5 AF2 is not a big deal anymore. Now when you have 5/5 +1 AF2 that's another story

The literacy rate makes me wary.

In all honesty, you can clear the cities with 30 people in under 2 hours if your melee jobs are overwhelmingly nin or war/nin and have bards. However, if you have an egalitarian LS which doesn't discriminate against people without the "optimal jobs" (which, I hope is true for most LSs out there), clearing in under 2 hours with such numbers, especially with an ensured win, is pretty difficult.

My shell can do it with an hour left on the clock. I don't see why other people wouldn't be able to.

courtney said:
The Shell consists of Endgame players. Most endgame players have a job that's useful in killing mobs quickly, and, in general, they come as those jobs. Mellees are mostly NIN, MNK, WAR and mages are mostly BLM, WHM, RDM, BRD. 3-4 THFs for TH.

Yeah OK. I guess you can say that the people who can't read (which seems to include you) aren't "agreeing"

Really, I don't know what's wrong with some of these people. The reason I'm slapping around courtney is because he is speaking as if it is the norm for all people in dynamis shells to all have one of the merit jobs leveled or they are not even worthy of consideration, and that dynamis was designed to be cleared far under the time limit with low numbers. You say that's not the intention? Then why is it that courtney assumes in every counterpost that the objective of every LS should be to clear the zone, because that's the "most efficient" and suggests it to be the obvious choice?

And if you are to argue that it's not the jobs that enables the short clear time, why dodge the question when I ask, can the same group of people do the same thing if you altered the job distribution such that you didn't have a horrible skew (for example, the aforementioned 3-of-a-kind configuration)?

So, what you're saying here is that the ones who don't fit this profile are unfit and unworthy of dynamis, because it hinders the LS from meeting the baseline performance of clearing the zone, right? Don't tell me that's not what you're saying because you've already established that such is the population pool you expect dynamis to be drawing from.

Are you honestly taken aback when people accuse you of being elitist when you make such statements? This is why I said, courtney's statements (and now, yours) are akin to "let them eat cake."

If you are going to make fun of others not being able to read, you should learn how to read yourself. I specifically said:

"Yes, there are some new comers, but noone discriminates against them. They are accepted into linkshells too."

right after I said most people already have "fast kill" jobs.

It's clear that you are the only one here who can't read. Everyone else read and understood it. You are the only one who didn't. Did it ever occur to you, that you might be the one that needs to learn how to read?

P.S. Courtney was talking to someone else besides you about clearing zones completely. All he said was that clearing a zone in 2 hours is more efficient than clearing it in 3. To clear it in 2 you need a skewed distribution. Basically the more even your job distribution is, the longer it takes to finish things. Courtney's point was that people have multiple jobs and they will come on a job that is the most efficient. If someone has DRG and BLM, chances are they are going BLM instead of DRG. It's hard to give you numbers of distribution because people don't go the same job to Dynamis every time. They go the job that's needed or sometimes when none of the job is needed, than they get to go whichever they like the best. What you are saying is that if you have a lot of BLM and WAR, you must be an elitist because you finished faster. All you did is jump on Courtney because he contributed to this thread the way his Linkshell works. He clearly said they get people of all jobs, but when you have multiple jobs you come as the most efficient job.

I find this hillarious coming from the same person preaching efficiency > all.

No one ever said that. That's you assuming again. Not surprising coming from you.

Do you not understand that "most people already have "fast kill" jobs" is the very statement that is being likened to Antoinette? Comprehension level: low.

You're the only one saying that you must have one of the merit cannon jobs to be considered to join a dynamis linkshell. All courtney said was most people have one of those jobs leveled as their second/third/whatever job; and that since those jobs put out the most damage, people usually come as those to help out more. Courtney already said that new people can join, even people who aren't 75, don't have the best gear, or little to no merits; there's no discrimination against them. It's funny that you keep saying you hope our literacy will improve when you're continuing to ignore what everyone is saying just so you can call them elitist.

The ultimate goal for a zone should be a clear, honestly, because by clearing the zone you've done everything possible to do. You've had the maximum opportunity to get AF/100 coins, you've beaten the boss, there is nothing else you could have done in the zone. I'm sure you could clear a zone with 3 of each job, but it would undoubtedly take much longer than if you went for a setup with maximum damage.

You're the only one seeing elitism where it does not exist.

And btw, BLM AF2 hands suck for MB'ing. Zenith Mitts ftw.

This is incorrect. While Z Mitts > AF2 is a no-brainer for general use, the actual damage on an MB from the gloves will be higher than with zenith (assuming they both land unresisted, naturally).

Well, I dunno. I only tried them once, and they added just as much as Zenith did. After that I've only used them as a swap-in for Stun, Drain and Aspir >.>

Agreed, their most significant value is the +dark and I macro them for those spells too. But they are a valuable macro item for times when you really want the most bang for your mp (say, MBing Tornado II on Kirin).

Meh, I mainly play BLM in things like Dynamis or manaburning flans <.<; so I never really get a chance to use it for MB'ing anyway xD I play WHM or RDM in other things mainly <.<;

I can't think of a time in the past month where I've actually tried to magic burst.

I only macro AF2 hands in for ye olde Dark Magic increases so I can whore my aspirs on Flans.

Infact, to tell the truth, I don't think I've ever magic bursted with my AF2, they have been exclusively for dark magic. I guess it's no loss, I don't know what I'm missing :)

Actually, I've never talked obout clearing zones in two hours. The fastest we've ever finished a zone is 2:35 (Bastok) 3:00 (Sandy). The person who stated it was easy to clear a zone in 2 hours was?

Do you not understand that just because you covered Antoinette in your high school English class yesterday, it doesn't apply everywhere? There is absolutely nothing elitist about saying that most people have those jobs. Do a search for people seeking at 75 for merit and tell me if most of them are not one of the fast kill jobs. No one here said you must get those jobs, everyone here is repeating what courtney said. If you have those jobs it's more efficient to go those jobs. Just because you only understand half the sentences doesn't make you literate. Sure if you take little phrases out of context it might sound elitist, but don't forget the part where everyone repeats that all jobs are welcome to join, some jobs just make it faster.

And never mind your subsequent posts which were all made under the assumption that the if in that very quote is universally true. It's true for you, which you subsequently admit, but refused to admit that it was because of that precondition you could pull off those numbers. So, now that you're back, I'd like to hear from you whether you can pull off those numbers you cited that when the precondition is not met. You shyed away from it last time. I'd like a nice lecture on how to clear zones with 3 of each job with "experienced" players.

The numbers I cited are actual data. It's just upper bound of performance that I've seen thus far if the preconditions are met. Does it hurt your elitist pride to know that people can do something better than you when they take the same exclusive approach? What the hell was the air of disbelief? The idea that people can't do it better than you was just too outlandish?

Just because the clique of people you hang out with have 16 level 75 jobs, claiming it to be true for "most" people is nothing short of bombastic arrogance.

Artem, did you do the search now? Guess what, the demographics of people you see on right now are predominantly: schoolkids with lots of time on their hands. Is it such a hard concenpt to grasp that those people are more likely to fall in the category you describe as "having x level 75 jobs"? Also, it's unfortunately the case that many merit party leaders have the same attitude as you about some jobs and it's a known fact that some jobs just don't get invited, so they don't even seek.

And by the way, Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France. I don't know what kind of school you went to, but it's pretty interesting that you would've studied the French Revolution in your English class. Perhaps it was a school exclusive to those who have 10 level 75 jobs in Final Fantasy XI? Well, that sure is *one* explanation of your poor reading skills. What the hell do you mean "it doesn't apply everywhere"? That's certainly not something one who knows what the quote is about would say.

This would be the perfect moment for peregrine to come in and make a comment about the "typical end gamer" and add a few things to the list...

I find it funny people talking about elitism in terms of jobs as if people couldn't change whatever job they were just by clicking "change job" in their mog house. I don't get why people would rationalize that it's in some way similar to race or some royalty class. It's just a freaking job, anyone who wants to can play it.

Not everyone can sit at qcdn or play FF all day, unlike some. It does take a while to get to 75, you know.

If it's so trivial, why is there even a thread here about the job distribution? You even claimed the more blm, the better, so did you do dynamis with an all-blm LS?

Oh and by the way, people don't try and get all the same job for melee because even if a MNK will outdmg a DRG, MNK can't wear DRG AF2. On the other hand most leaders will stack BLM because they don't really have an interchangeablea job and endgame leadership usually has a melee bias so they'll prefer melee lines shorter.

Well, that's an odd thing to say. You just said previously that it was trivial to switch jobs. Isn't the assumption that whoever wants DRG AF2 in your example will naturally have mnk ready to be used for the acquisition thereof, if you assume that to be the case? Same can be said for blm.

I'm sure the only reason you know that is from the recently released movie about her.

You're been sure of many other things, and proceeded to embarrass yourself numerous times here. I'm sorry but it's my sincere hope that it takes neither an elite erudite nor a moviegoer to know who the hell Marie Antoinette is. God knows what movie you'll bring up if I mention Robespierre. Oh wait, did he show up in whatever movie you're talking about?
