ok, so this gonna be a long post, but we have time i think *looks at clock*

So for a few months now ive been taking a break from lvling, working on crafts, fishing (10k carp, eeesh), making gil, etc. ive had a good time crafting, made a couple mil, bought some nifty toys, and generally enjoyed a dipshit-free environment. But recently the little moat carps have started talking to me, so i thought it might be time to take a break from Ol' Lu Shangs, and go play in the sandbox with the other kids.

So out of the closet i dug my old friend, lvl 20 warrior, geared up, bought an arsenal of weapons, crossbow bolts, food, utsusemi, etc, and head my furry behind down to the pits of hell, AKA Qufim Island.

The 1st thing i noticed, upon receipt of an invite, was the appalling predominance of warr/whm job combos. This "hand-me-down" pally approach never sat well with me, as 24 mp on an elvaan cant really do too much good, but now it seems like its taken hold of Every tank on the damn server lvl 40 or below. Not only were they Gimp as hell, but they were all, without exception, Underleveled crappy subs, i.e warr24/whm6, and so on and on. And as warr is the most common job pre-30, i got to group with most of them, and discovered that, not only were they a gimp job combo, but none of them were willing to main tank. Thus they defeated the purpose, if there is one, of subbing whm (cure thyself for hate), and would only cure when they thought they should, never while voking, and thereby proved that not only did they sub the wrong job, but indeed, they had no idea Why they subbed it. Just seemed to be a "Warr/whm = Pld" theory floating around. And oh yeah, they all had sub-standard equip, as in, lvl 24 in liz. And then i met---------

Kert

Ive seen the posts in the other topics, kert spouting things like "i'm a good
tank" and "all my other PTs were great".
Yes Kert, your other Pts were likely great. Why? cause they had people like me, who made up for your crappy armor, your lack of voke, your total inability to hold hate or do damage. And somehow, the leader Could not be coerced into Kicking you. So. In this PT we had, Me (mithra warr/nin), 1 hume drk, 1 elvaan war/whm, and a taru warr/mnk, kert, and a rdm. Horrible PT, and the thing that killed me was, 3 of the 6 ppl said "this is the best PT ive had all week!" and meant it... wtf is going on in the lower lvls these days!?!?! In this PT setup, I was main tank, and the TARU was my Backup VOKE!!!! Mithra! Taru!!! with 2humes and an elvaan!!!! why? my gear was the best. i had-----*gasp*---- BEETLE ARMOR!!
"NO WAY!" you say!
"Yuh-huh" says i. I'm fabulously rich of course, as that could be the only logical explanation. Yep, as soon as i dinged 21, on it all went, and so happy was i. For only the truly insanely wealthy in this game can afford Beetle armor, its hella expensive

so that was kert, i eventually just dropped PT after he cast Protect and then cure on the Rdm for no reason i could see, while we had been staring at a thunder ele for at least 30 seconds, and had made sure everyone knew not to cast spells. Dead, so sad.

Sooo the next day i came back, put seek up, got a decent PT and started tanking away, because the warrs were still whms and the gear was still lizard, and by-and-by we lose a member, and start looking for a replacement. There was noone at all, so at length i go against my better judgement and say "all right, invite the Nin/Thf, she can pull at least".
Wrong. she has no ranged weapon, no utsusemi, and is using some sort of daggers.....not katanas. So i figure ill just suck it up, go with it and tank AND pull, so we head off to camp. I head to the canyon near the tower, when suddenly Ninja-monkey says "not there, this is the best camp!" i check my map markers and lo and behold! yep, shes at Dumbass Camp of Noobland #361, the beach left of the tower. you all know the one, the place where Banshees, wights, AND thunder elementals spawn. I say calmly, "bad stuff spawns there, i dont feel like dying. come to my marker" She then proceeds to tell me that she lvled her warr there from 22-30, so she knew what she was doing, yadda yadda yadda you must not know what youre doing etc" So eventually i get them all to the canyon when it occurs to me to ask "if you have a lvl 30 warr, why is it that youre subbed THF?" to which she replies "I'm not blink tanking! STFU Noob!" after which i replied [take care!] and disbanded, deciding to call it a day.

So away i mosey, heading to qufim and my friend MR carbon Fiber Fishing rod, when i get a /tell from ninja-monkey, to the following effect:
"you noob, have fun noob you obviously didnt look at my job 1st noob"
to which i replied:
"you were invited solely to pull, not to tank, but you didnt have a ranged weapon..... so what purpose do you serve? you cant tank, you cant do damage, you cant pull....and you sure as hell cant heal..... you are a leech"
to which she replied:
"oh yeah noob, how bout i get on my 72 dragoon and PVP you huh???"
me (just to piss this wanker off):
"ahh, dragoon, another useless job. [congratulations!]"
Ninja-monkey:
"rofl drg/sam useless? you are such a noob noob, welcome to my blist bitch"
me:
"I've noticed that people who call others noobs are most often Noobs themselves. but in your case, i think you were just bricked on the head as a child"
me (after noticing that my tells were still going through):
"the command is /blist add Grieve Btw."
me:
"you Noob ^^"

so thats the story, long as i promised, and bursting with fruit flavor. may i just say at this point that my real gripe with warr/whm is: GODDAMMIT stop resting away Your Goddam TP! that 24 mp doesnt mean DICK! 3 days in qufim, and not one of my PTs has had a skillchain, ive been told various things, like thfs are useless and skillchains are a waste of time, and these things were all said by ADV jobs, dragoons, summoners, and the like, and i just cant understand how these people get anywhere at all, but there we have it. Like the mighty Kert they too will be lvl 40 in no time at all, because people are too terrified of being thought of as Dicks if they Boot someone from a PT.

Boot the motherfuckers, please for the love of god, or theyll proliferate like maggots! Like Wackygamer. or Magyst. Or Kert. So hey, what lvl is Wacky now? thats your fault PT leaders, YOUR fault. start hittin the Kick button, cause from now on, i urge the Good players, like me, to leave a PT if they wont kick people like that. just walk away. so kick them, or the kitty savin your ass walks, and im takin the red mage with me.

That is all. may rabid gophers consume the intestines of mine enemies.

Kurt you seem to have quite the fan club going!

Anesly's guide for surviving Valk/Qufim:

1) Fishing gear. Composite rod. Sabiki/rogue rig for Valk, minnow/shrimp lure for Qufim.
2) Put on "No WHM, no PT" sandwich board.
3) Put seek up
4) Fish (Selbina in Valk, ice pond in Qufim)
5) Screen PT invites for white mageness (yeah, people don't read search comments ><)
6) When you finally join a party, if it sucks, LEAVE. My first time through the dunes I just wanted XP and figured any XP would be better than no XP--but dammit, it just isn't true. Too much aggravation. Not worth it. I give people some leeway in these areas because they're still getting the hang of their jobs, but...
7) After leaving crappy party, return to fishing and repeat from step 2.

At least you'll be making some money off the fish you catch =P

I boot people from lowby parties every time I lead one. I set an example, but no one follows.

And Lv72 DRG/SAM. Ha ha ha. /SAM is such crap. This person OBVIOUSLY read the Bradey Guide.

yep, thats usually how it goes, but personally i dont much care for Nosteau Herring, and that shrimp lure just looks so......Googly....in my ammo slot ><

Oh btw, in addendum to previous post, The Nin/thf was named Kitfox, and if you are on these boards, and indeed you do have a 72 dragoon, please post and let me know, i wanna /blist that name too. Somehow i doubt it, but you never know, dumbasses are dumbasses and even the dubassest dumbass can indeed rise to the mighty heights of lvl 70+, and still somehow know absolutely nothing.

ps the PLing has got to stop, cant you idiots see what your doing? If you have Ever PLd someone, i dont ever want to hear you Bitching about "teh suxor noobs in lvl 40" because you got them there, OK?? /slap

I PLed two fellow LSers so far:

One wanted to be a Tarutaru PLD after getting tired of their old char, a L57-58 DRG. I don't believe I caused any harm there in getting his MNK from L12 up to L15 so he could uppity his WAR to L30. He did his PLD all by himself.

The other was a L41 RDM who was upping her THF and started getting frustrated doing it. I gave her a friendly boost from L14 to L15.

I'll always be smart about giving PLs to my fellow LS mates. Some of them direly need to be learning a bit more of the game, while others are seasoned veterans who know where they're heading. So there's no hypocrisy from me, I know what I'm favoring and what I'm not encouraging.

Bradey Guide lol! >< , i thought that thing was like the freaking bible when i started the game, now, it's currently collecting dust under my Futon lol.

In our linkshell, we call it the Barely guide. ;)

Collecting dust? YOU FOOL! The Bradey Guide is my utmost source of comedic reading!

I'm guilty of this, as well. I still use it from time to time; to check what armor set I should buy next or something similar. Otherwise, it has lost all it's helpful potency.

There are only a few DRG's past Lv70, Jonas, Lagantis being the prime candidate's, I can easily tell that individual lied to you. Otherwise I would see him in Dynamis, zilart mission's & other high level activities.

He just tried to scare you by saying "My Lv72 Dragoon!", he has zero concept of what it mean's to be 70+.

Oh yeah and she saying she not have utsusemi or whatever, she can kiss goodbye any invite's higher up he/she goes. Another reason she not have it is probably cause he/she want to be cheap & lazy NIN ~ not have to tank mean's not spend money on shihei & ninjutsu tool's. He/she just want's to melee, heck not even have voke.

She gonna hit 75 with this attitude? I'll tell you now, she might as well quit the game. No way, fat chance, zero, zip, nadda ~ end of story.

Yes, guides for MMORPGs are the equivalent of using 20 dollar bills as kindling. Hell, I don't even trust Allakhazam sometimes, and that's updated. Well, I guess there'll NEVER be a way for me to look at a guide to baby me through life. Ho-hum.

Anyway, back to the WAR/WHM issue. I am guilty of trying this for a period of time, trying to make up for using my Great Sword, which isn't the best of tanking weapons (DUH). Well, as you can probably deduce, a Galka subbing a mage is....well, useless, let's be honest. It only took me a few battles to realize that my WHM wasn't cutting it, and I quickly switched back to MNK, and all was right with the world. Hopefully these up-and-comers will realize, subbing WHM as WAR is bad. It doesn't get more invites, nor does it honestly help in tanking. Leave the healing melee to Pallys...

I've seen Jonas around, but I dont know him... Lagantis is a pretty nice fellow though.

Other 70+ DRG are all JP, as far as I know. Its harder, now, to level it past 50, or even 60... as its kind of a last-resort damage dealer.

Yes miisha, i know all the names of the NA drgs 65+. My roomate happens to be a Hi lvl on our server (74) and so i know most of the Hilvls by sight, name, and reputation. (see my post under "Good Player Names" thread) I was thinking that maybe it was someone i dont personally know, and have never seen in action, as there are a few of the Drgs who seem to have given it up and not been seen for a while (one was a mithra, though the name escapes me atm).

But basically, i was laughing out loud when this numbskull said 72 drg, and then i went over in my head whether or not it could really be any of the ppl i know, and figured it likely couldnt. Lagantis i know isnt a dink, and jonas at least has better grammar than this moron, and the others i know of are generally in the 65-70 range. But i was thinking maybe, just maybe, one of em got really really drunk. ^^

You btw, Miisha, are truly a lvling machine. And id like to add You to my list of Good Players under that post, ive seen some truly great red-magery from you recently (4 mob link in Ro'Maeve in particular) ^^

cheers ~

His name was Fyre and he was an asshole.

Kitfox was probably trying to avoid spending money so she can use ninja as a sub for her ranger. I partied with her this weekend and she just hit 25 in qufim, I believe. Yeah, Ive been running into a lot of cheap ninjas lately not willing to spend the money to do their ROLE in a party. They need to read RealUltimatePower!!!

Ding ding ding! thats the one! ty keits ~ yeah, i agree, only time i ever saw Fyre was in a key hunt for WHM AF in garlaige, totally unimpressive, and kinda rude. Not sure who dragged him along, but most wished they hadnt ^^

I knew him well. I had to boot him out of my linkshell for being so amazingly rude (and attempting to pass off incorrect statements as fact, and using his higher-level to prove that he was right).
