Quick Question

When you go into the Beastiary, and next to each of the creatures you have already seen/battled it says need and has a number. Anybody know what this number means and is for? Because I am totally lost about it.

When you go into the Beastiary, and next to each of the creatures you have already seen/battled it says need and has a number. Anybody know what this number means and is for? Because I am totally lost about it.

It there is the number 10, say, you have to kill 10 of the same monster, then more pages appear on the description of the monster.

Thanks, that was bugging the crap out of me. because I would kill the number it told me I needed, but then I would not notice anything happening.
