Is there a reason why the blue light (that lines the disc opening) illuminates even when you're not playing with the Wii? I'm not one to read instruction manuals (ok ok I don't remember where I put it) so that's why I'm asking here  . I noticed that when I got home from work one night and went into my office, that light was on and I know I turned off the unit the night before. I turned on the Wii, the light flashed and turned off, played some Wario wares, turned off the Wii and the blue light remained off. Early the next morning before work, I noticed it was on again..

If your Wii is turned off and the tray light is pulsing on, it means that you have a message on the Wii message board. It's basically a less annoying "you've got mail."

Thanks Baj!! Here I thought aliens were using Wii's as some type of beacon to mark those next on their probing list.

There is an option to turn that off though.

I'll poke around once that light starts to annoy me.

Wii Options > Wii Settings > WiiConnect24 > Slot Illumination > Bright/Dim/Off > Confirm

Wiiconnect24 is just allowing your wii to connect to the internet while it's "off." Turning it off would stop the light from coming on, but then you'd probably have to download everything when you turned it back on as well. It's a cool feature, I'm not sure why you'd want to turn it off.

Thanks for the processflow Kurgon!

You don't have to turn of WiiConnect24 you can turn the light off while leaving WiiConnect on. I just don't like the pulsating light personally.
