Quite possibly the end-all solution for flameboard requests

You don't need a poll. In the end ths is not a democracy. Sculli is going to do whatever the piss he wants.
You don't need to derail threads in a desparate attempt to relive the glory days that were the FB.
Here it is:
1. Start a linkshell called Flamboard or something similar.
2. Register it here on QCDN.
3. <Invite to join party> anyone who is interested.
3a. Yes it requires a moderator, but only in the loosest of senses. A mod only for approval of interested flamers, nothing more, so sayeth the flameboard by-laws.
4. FLAME ON!

This way people who don't want to be subjected to the mind-numbingly redunculousness that is the FB, they don't have to be.
Also, it will keep the shiny apple that is QCDN ever shiny in the eyes of the public, with that dirty apple-eating worm satiated.

Solution? Sure. Is it perfect? Nope. Would it work? iuno.

Sorry if this was posted before. If it has please link to it. I'm not going trolling through 300+ pages of general discussion.

I say we should make the old flameboard read-only just so everyone can see how much fun we had! I miss the good ol' flameboard days. I never really posted, but thats what first brought me to really read QCDN.

Apparently some do, yes. And I'm just a little tired of seeing post after post about resurrecting the FB (yes I see the irony in that comment in relation to OP) or post after post being derailed and locked. So I figure why not give them an option where they will stop being whiny-poopy-baby-heads and take themselves and all their flaming goodness to a secluded area, away from the general populace.

Bah, you're right, but who has accress to a bunch of first graders, really? I mean they get locked down so tight nowadays its ridiculous. Security guards and principals and teachers, one would have to be a real-life ninja to sneak through all that. Besides that they don't really talk in class, let alone name calling. Besides, it was never about childish name calling for me. I enjoyed the FBs because it was entertaining and funny. The shit some people would talk was downright hilarious.
Lots of people want the FBs back, whether they say so or not.

Maybe it doesn't have to be under LS. Maybe it could be a restricted area that you can access via an on/off switch in UserCP (I don't know how it works or if it's even possible, just spittin' ideas). Turning it on would send you to an user agreement saying something along the lines of "If you go to flameboards you are acknowledging the fact that you are lower than 10% of the QCDN population" lol. Ok maybe not that, but you know what I mean. Make it purely elective on a case-by-case basis. That way no one can make useless threads anymore about wanting FBs or wanting to get rid of FBs or whateva. If they don't want to see the FBs they can just opt out and only those who want access will have access.
I dunno, maybe it's something for the mods to think about while they are 'discussing.' Restrict the FBs the way you restrict the LSs: You can only view if you are a signed-up member. That was the jist of the whole idea i guess.

Constructive thoughts only please. If you're going to equate me or anyone else to anything demeaning/degrading, just go ahead and click your browsers back button. If you're just afraid that bringing the flameboards back will only result in numerous flames against you personally... well... you're probably right, but post your concerns anyway, but in a new thread so trolls have something new to crap on.

For starters, you missed the boat, Sculli's been gone for months.
Secondly, sure, it's not a democracy, but that doesn't mean it's not a bullshit move to do something at least half the community doesn't even like. That's just a dumb idea.

(No I'm not being sarcastic, I guess I don't really know.)
I though it was because people didn't want their eyes to be offended by all the oogly-boogly that was the FBs. I always thought the same way you do, with the whole link and click or no click, minus the sarcasm of course.
So, going off that, the idea in OP was born.
So I guess I never really understood why it was taken down in the first place.

Sculli never gave a good legitimate reason, the best we ever got out of him was that he was on a crusade to make the world a better place with happiness and sunshine and nobody saying bad things.
 
FB being back would hold multiple possibilities, mainly
-people becoming more/less agressive; for some it's a means to vent but others would just get angrier at certain people, and
-more/less outside-FB threads becoming derailed with flames; some won't trolls threads as much, but the people that're angrier due to an FB existing will just pick fights with certain people in the wrong subforums even more.

So I dunno...but regarding making FB register-only or something...sad to say most everyone would register, because people like to know what's going on. People are curious. People are also paranoid; if an FB exists, most are gonna instinctively check in on it just in case they or someone they know has their name pop up.

I actually like this idea. Make it a hidden board only viewable to those who want to see. If you don't like it, don't ask to be put on viewable list ;x

that bs and you know. It not like we never had a flame board. We know what will happen. There will still be flames in other threads. There will be more agression because you are taking away the little rules that we have now. The rifrafts like colbwa will return to troll the boards. Atleast the way it is the trolls have some kind of a lesh. Also the whole if you dont like it dont read thing is BS to and you all know it. People whould post there backstabing properganda agian and then people will have no choice but to try and come defend them self. fun excitrment nah more like a day at the mental instatute.
 
It did work well before. It only failed for those that lacked the self control, entered at their own risk, got butthurt and complained like all Hell as if someone actually owed them an explanation. They quite literally got what they asked for.

Don't want a part of it? Then simply don't be a part of it.
When someone finds that they cannot contain their flames inside the FB, the mods step in. No problem there either. So when we speak of Colbwa trolling the boards, he will not be trolling the boards, only the FB.
