it's not dead. that's the practical and best way to hold one. the mothers hold the babies like that, it doesn't hurt them at all.

After reading the article I get the impression that the rabbit pictured isn't the one they're looking for; the one they're hunting would actually be larger than what's pictured. :shok:

Also seconding that holding a bunny by the scruff doesn't hurt it- I pick up my cat like that when she's misbehaving to show her that I'm Mom and therefore the boss, lol.
