RANK ONE: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: The Zeruhn Report
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: None
Suggested Level: 3 - 6
Title:
Repeatable: Yes
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Speak with the one of the Bastok Gate Guards and select the mission called The Zeruhn Report.
Upon finishing the cutscene you will have to head towards the Zeruhn Mines. The zone into Zeruhn Mines is located in the western area of Bastok Mines.
Inside Zeruhn Mines, look for the NPC named Makarim located at (H-11).
Makarim asks you to deliver her report to Naji outside the President's Office. You can find the President's Office in Metalworks.

Note: The dialog between Naji and Lucius will differ, depends on, if you "opened" the Report or not (checked the Key Item).
Return to the Bastok Gate Guard to complete the mission.

RANK ONE: MISSION TWO

Mission Name: A Geological Survey
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 1-1 Completed (The Zerhun Report)
Suggested Level: 5 - 8
Title:
Repeatable: Yes
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: After accepting the mission, head over to the Metalworks.
Look for Cid in Cid's Lab. Cid will give you Blue Acidity Tester that you need to use to test the waters of Dangruf Wadi.
Visit the Dangruf Wadi area, located in the southwestern corner of South Gustaberg. ( D-9 )
Head to the geyser located at (I-8) and stand in it until it propels you to the ledge above. There are aggro Goblins in this area that may attack while waiting for the geyser.
Check your key items to make sure the Blue Acidity Tester has changed to a Red Acidity Tester.
When it turns red, return back to Cid.

RANK ONE: MISSION THREE

Mission Name: Fetichism
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 1-2 Completed
Suggested Level: 23-25
Title:
Repeatable: Yes
Reward: Rank 2 & 1000gil

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Accept the mission and head to Palborough Mines in the northeast corner of North Gustaberg. This has the densest population of low-level Quadav to find the Fetich items. The Fetich items may also drop from Quadav in Konschtat Highlands, Pashhow Marshlands and Beadeaux.
Kill Quadav until you get the items: Fetich Head, Fetich Arms, Fetich Torso, and a Fetich Legs. These items can also be purchased from the Auction House.
If you do go to the mines, look for Amber Quadav, Greater Quadav, Onyx Quadav, Veteran Quadav and Old Quadav.
After getting the four parts go back to any Bastok Gate Guard and trade him the four parts to complete the mission. Make sure to trade them to him, as he will not reward you for just speaking to him.
If you are a higher level, or you have someone else to help you out, the Quadav in Pashhow Marshlands drop the same items, but at a higher rate.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 2 Bastokan!

RANK TWO: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: The Crystal Line
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Rank 2 (Mission 1-3 Completed)
Suggested Level:
Title:
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Trade one stack of crystals to an I.M. guard.
Talk to the Bastok Gate Guard to start this mission.
Talk to Cid in the Metalworks.
Take the crystal he gives you to the Crag of Dem in Konschtat Highlands (Or any other crag); if Cid does not give you a crystal, any crystal dropped from a monster will do.
Trade the crystal to the Telepoint and you will receive a Faded Crystal.
Take the Faded Crystal back to Cid to obtain the Key Item: C. L. Report.
Talk to Ayame (K-7) in the Metalworks to complete the mission.

RANK TWO: MISSION TWO

Mission Name: Wading Beasts
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 2-1 Completed
Suggested Level:
Title:
Repeatable: Yes
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Trade another stack of crystals to make this mission available if you only traded 1 stack for 2-1.
Talk to the Bastok Gate Guard to start this mission.
After receiving the mission, head to the Dangruf Wadi.
Kill Steam Lizards there until they drop a Lizard Egg, or simply buy one from the auction house. NOTE: Rock Lizards DO NOT drop an egg. So don't even try! If you are having a difficult time getting the Lizard Egg drop, trying using Thief's Steal ability. The success rate is much higher.
Trade the egg to Senator Alois outside the President's office (inside the Conference Room) in the Metalworks.

Notes: This a good repeatable mission to raise your fame without splashing out on stacks of crystals.
For ease of repeating this mission, purchase your stacks of Lizard Eggs beforehand, and use Malduc (who stands right outside the President's Office) to start the mission each time.

RANK TWO: MISSION THREE

Mission Name: The Emissary
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 2-1 Completed
Suggested Level:
Titles:
  • Warchief Wrecker
  • Black Dragon Slayer
  • Dread Dragon Slayer
  • Certified Adventurer
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank 3. 3000g & Adventurer's Certificate

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough:
Talk to the Bastok Gate Guard to start the mission.
Speak with Naji by the President's Office in Metalworks, a cutscene will play and they will escort you to President Karst.
You will then be able to ask him questions about various topics and once you are done he will ask you to head to San d'Oria or Windurst.

San d'Oria -> Windurst
Head to the Consulate of Bastok in Northern San d'Oria. Speak with Baraka the receptionist and then speak with Helaku in the back room.
Next go to Chateau d'Oraguille and talk to Halver (I-9). He will request that you to head to Ghelsba Outpost.
Go out to H-7 in Ghelsba Outpost to find an Orc named Warchief Vatgit. Defeat him (he can be soloed at level 20).
NOTE: You may stand in Ghelsba Outpost at the zone to West Ronfaure and have someone else go up and kill Warchief Vatgit. As long as you are in the party of the person who defeats Warchief Vatgit and are somewhere in the zone at the time of his death, you will get credit for killing him.
Return to the Consulate of Bastok in San d'Oria and speak again with Helaku who will ask you to head now to Windurst.
Head to Port Windurst and speak with Melek who represents the Consulate of Bastok. She will instruct you to head to Heavens Tower and speak to Kupipi, who will give a key to Giddeus. ( key item : Dark Key )
Purchase a map of Giddeus, find a level 25 party (with someone that can sleep), and bring antidotes (White Mages may need reraiser). Make sure your gear is level 25 or under, as you will be fighting a BCNM fight that is capped at Level 25. Invisible is only needed inside Giddeus. Once inside of Giddeus, head to (G-12) to zone into Balga's Dais.
Upon entering the battlefield and receiving a cutscene, you will find Searcher and Black Dragon. The order of the fight is recommended to kill Searcher and then Black Dragon. The Black Mage should use Elemental Seal + Sleep on the dragon while everyone kills the Searcher. Once Searcher is gone, the dragon will die quickly. This dragon has a very potent AOE poison attack that does 10 damage per tick, which makes antidotes necessary. He also may curse the tanks.
Can be completed by a Pld/War and War/Mnk.
Can be completed by a blu/nin with a couple of healing potions mp potions and yag drink.
Can be completed by a MNK/WAR and SMN/WHM by using Hundred Fists and Astral Flow.
Can be completed by a DNC/NIN with a few healing potions and Icarus Wing
After you have defeated the BCNM, take the Kindred Crest back to Port Windurst and speak with Melek again. She will give you The Kindred Report.
Having completed the above, take The Kindred Report back to Bastok, to the President's Office. Speak with Naji or Malduc once more, and a cutscene will commence. You will have achieved Rank 3.

Windurst -> San d'Oria
Talk to Melek in the embassy in Port Windurst, who will send you to Heavens Tower. Talk to Kupipi to receive the magical sword. Return to the consulate of Bastok in Port Windurst and speak with Gold Skull. He will exchange the Sword offering for a Dull sword. Head to Giddeus.
Go to the Treasure Room located in the tunnels of Giddeus, and once finding it, you will see it is guarded by an NPC Yagudo. He will tell you that the sword you have is not good enough to offer, and that he'd rather have the blade used by Eyy Mon the Ironbreaker, a named Yagudo that spawn not far away. Kill Eyy Mon the Ironbreaker until everyone has an Aspir Knife and then return to the Yagudo at the door to the treasure room again and trade him the Aspir Knife.
Return to Melek in the embassy in Windurst and then go to to the embassy in Northern San d'Oria who will direct you to Halver in Chateau d'Oraguille at I-9.
At this point check your mission log, if you are at the correct point it will tell you to go Investigate Yughott Grotto. There is NO key item for this fight
you will need to form a level 25 party (highly suggested that you have a BLM or RDM for sleep) and make your way to Horlais Peak. You need to go through Ghelsba Outpost to get here. From Ghelsba Outpost you can go through either Yughott Grotto or Fort Ghelsba - follow the maps to make your way there.
You will need Sneak and Invisible while in the higher level areas.
The party must have equipment that is legal for the BCNM fight as it is capped at level 25. Only 6 members of the party will be allowed to enter this battlefield. When you're ready to enter, have one of the people who has the Mission active click on the Burning Circle and enter the battlefield. You will be fighting:
  • Dread Dragon
  • Spotter
Once you've defeated the BCNM, take the Kindred Crest back to Helaku at the Bastokan Consul in Northern San d'Oria to receive the Kindred Report.
Having completed the above, take The Kindred Report back to Bastok, to the President's Office. Speak with Naji or Malduc once more, and a cutscene will commence.

Notes: You don't lose EXP if KO'd in battle.
Duoable by 2 SAM using two hour.
Duoable by MNK and PUP.
Soloed by BLU if you use Soporific (confirmed). It helps to carry a Hi Potion and a Yagudo Drink as well, but not required.
Soloed with a little skill as RDM/NIN, sleep dragon, kill eye with melee, kite dragon and shoot bow until it dies.
BLM, WHM and WAR can trio it.
BLM and MNK can duo it. Black mage uses Elemental Seal + Sleep on the dragon, Monk uses Hundred Fists on the eye then follow by dragon. Aeroga should do around 120dmg (naked taru).
The Curse effect of the dragon is severe, if low-manning, bring Holy Water!
Although a BLM must use Elemental Seal to Sleep the dragon, a RDM 25 with Enfeebling capped will do it very easily.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 3 Bastokan!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Trade 1 stack of crystals to the Bastok Gate Guard to unlock the mission.
After accepting mission, head to Iron Eater in the President's Office.
As a loyal citizen of Bastok, you are ordered to head to the main Quadav stronghold in Beadeaux.
Travel to Beadeaux and kill 20 Copper Quadav. Everyone in the party will get credit for Quadav killed by any member.
You don't need to kill them all at once. The game will keep track of the total you and your party have killed.
Once you have killed 20, leave Beadeaux and as you zone into Pashhow Marshlands you will receive a cutscene.
If you Warp or Escape out of Beadeaux, you will need to zone into Beadeaux then back out to Pashhow Marshlands to get the cutscene.
After the cutscene, you will have finished the mission.

Walkthrough: Talk to any Bastok Gate Guard to start this mission.
Talk to Davyad (K-6) Bastok Mines for storyline (Optional)
Farm or Purchase a Slice of Hare Meat from the Auction House then head to Gusgen Mines.
It is recommended to finish the quest A Foreman's Best Friend to obtain map of Gusgen Mines
Only Sneak is required in Gusgen Mines.
Enter Gusgen Mines from Konschtat Highlands.
The ??? is at J-7 of Gusgen Mines (first map).
  • Directions:
  • At first intersection make a right turn.
  • At second intersection make a left turn.
  • At the fork in the road, take the right fork.
  • At the next intersection, take a right turn.
Clear the area of Bandersnatches, Ghouls, and if necessary Smothered Schmidt. Ore Eater do not aggro.
When the area is cleared, trade the Hare Meat to the ???. Blind Moby will appear.
Pull Blind Moby away from the water where Smothered Schmidt spawns every 30 minutes.
Once you defeat him he will drop an Rare/Ex item called Glocolite. You will need to defeat this NM for each person that needs this item.
Trade this item to the gate guard to end the mission.

Notes
Smothered Schmidt will destroy anybody below level 50. It is best to find someone to dispose of this NM or at the very least take this NM out for a walk around the mines. Alternatively, you can wait a while for it to depop.
You may skip this mission, as the Bastok Gate Guard will offer Mission 3-3 if you trade two more stacks of crystals to the Conquest Overseer.

This is solo-able by a Elvaan 30War/15Mnk with Chainmail and a Battleaxe easily with the use of Mighty Strikes.
Also solo-able with a Hume 25Rdm/12Whm with Sneak/Invisible to bypass the grouped ghouls and bandersnatches.
Also solo-able with a Mithra 27Mnk/13Thf(using two-hour) with Silent Oil/Prism Powder to bypass the grouped ghouls and bandersnatches.

RANK THREE: MISSION THREE

Mission Name: Jeuno
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 3-1 Completed
Suggested Level: 40
Title: ---
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank 4 & 5000g

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Upon receiving the mission, report to Sir Lucius in Metalworks (I-9, inside Aide's Office). He will give you a Letter to the Ambassador and direct you to the embassy in Ru'Lude Gardens.
Talk to Goggehn in the Bastokan Consul and you will get a cutscene. Now it is time to make this trek up the Delkfutt's Tower.
Head to Delkfutt's Tower in Qufim, where you will need to climb up to the tenth floor and fight the NM giant Porphyrion.
It is suggested that you have the Map of Qufim Island, which can be purchased in Lower Jeuno and the Map of Delkfutt's Tower, which is obtained from the quest The Antique Collector.
There are 10 floors in the Tower divided in 3 parts linked by teleport.
Here are the locations of the stairs/teleports:
  • 1st Floor: E-6 (NW)
  • 2nd Floor: I-9 (SE, deadend at H-9, so go east first)
  • 3rd Floor: G-6 (or J-8, but I think that might be one way only)
  • 4th Floor: I-6 (NE, deadends at G-7, H-9, J-9)
  • 5th Floor: H-9 (S, deadend at I-10, so go west first)
  • 6th Floor: J-10 (SE)
  • 7th Floor: F-6 (NW)
  • 8th Floor: (1st time): I-6 (NE)
  • 9th Floor: (1st time): I-9 (SE, this sends you back to 8th floor)
  • 8th Floor: (2nd time): F-9 -> 9th Floor
  • 9th Floor: (2nd time): F-6 -> 10th Floor
Once you are on the 10th Floor you fight Porphyrion at H-8 for Delkfutt Key.
Porphyrion will drop 6 Delkfutt Key each and is a 10 minute respawn.
After everyone has a Delkfutt Key, trade the key to the elevator at H-8 to return to the first floor.
You will find yourself at the top of a long, spiral staircase. Walk all the way down the spiral staircase until you reach the Lower Tower Basement.
Once inside the Lower Tower Basement, head to the south-eastern most tunnel, trade your Delkfutt Key to the Cermet Door at K-9 to open it, and you will get a short cutscene where you find the Bastok ambassador lying unconscious on the other side of the door.
After the cutscene, return to the Bastok Embassy in Ru'Lude Gardens to receive your reward.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 4 Bastokan!

RANK FOUR: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: Magicite
Start NPC: Your country's embassy in Jeuno
Requirements: Mission: 3-3 Completed
Suggested Level: 45+
Title: Have Wings Will Fly
Repeatable: No
Reward: Airship Pass, 10,000 gil & Rank 5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important Note: After completing this mission, you will not be able to change your allegiance until you talk to your government's representative. The Immigration NPC will state that your home nation is in trouble and refuse your application. You will be able to change nations as long as you do not agree to start the next mission during the cutscene in your home nation.

Walkthrough: Report back to the embassy in Ru'Lude Gardens. Your gate guard will not hand out this mission, this mission is handed out by your embassy instead.

This mission is the same for all three nations.

This is not a simple Mission, so give some thought to the party level and size recommendations given below.

Before Heading Out
1. Talk to your ambassador for a cutscene to get the Archducal Audience Permit key item that lets you see the Archduke.

2. Head to the Duke's Audience Chamber (H-6) for a cutscene. He promises you an Airship Pass in exchange for 3 Magicites from the strongholds. In the cutscene Mawl'gofaur will give you the key item Letter to Aldo (if redoing this mission after you changed allegiance, it is important to get this key item again and talk to Aldo again before heading out to the strongholds).

3. Collect 5 key items to access the three Magicite locations you will travel to.

Davoi: Crest of Davoi
Castle Oztroja: Yagudo Torch
Beadeaux: Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace and Silver Bell
Note: You need to talk to Aldo before you can do the Crest of Davoi or Yagudo Torch parts.

Note: If you change allegiance and receive the mission again from your new country, go directly to the beastmen strongholds once you had your cutscene with Aldo. You don't need to repeat the preliminary quests, as you still have the Yagudo Torch and other Key Items.

Gathering the Key Items
These items are needed to enter Magicite areas.

Silver Bell
Note: You need to complete the Tenshodo Membership quest to be able to gain access to the back rooms of the Neptune's Spire. Complete the quest to continue with this mission. You can also purchase this item from AH.
Travel to the Tenshodo in the Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. Talk to Aldo [J-8] (make sure you have the Tenshodo Invite otherwise you can't get in the door at the end of the hall way) who stands in the back, cutscene. You will receive a key item: Silver Bell.

Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace
Travel to the Tenshodo in the Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. Talk to Sattal-Mansal, a Tarutaru who stands by the door to Aldo's room. He will ask you to bring him a Quadav Charm dropped from De'Vyu Headhunter and a Quadav Augury Shell dropped from Go'Bhu Gascon. Talking to Sattal-Mansal will initiate the quests Mysteries of Beadeaux I and II. Upon completion of these quests he rewards you with the key items: Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Crest of Davoi
Baudin (G-8) in Upper Jeuno requests that you bring 1 Coeurl Meat back to him. This can drop off any Coeurl or can be bought from the Auction House. Trade him the Coeurl Meat and he will give you the Crest of Davoi. See: Crest of Davoi quest of more information.

Yagudo Torch
Travel to Upper Jeuno, and talk to Paya-Sabya (I-8) who stands between the armor and weapon shops, cutscene. Then head to Muckvix's Junk Shop at (H-9) in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room and he will give you the Yagudo Torch.

Davoi
1. Ensure that you have the Key Item Crest of Davoi from Upper Jeuno before leaving for Davoi.

2. Upon entering Davoi from Jugner Forest, follow the right wall until you cross a bridge at (H-7). Continue forward until you come to an intersection at (G-7), where you should make a left turn. You will see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately, which will be guarded by Orcs.

3. Kill the two Orcs -OR- cast Invisible on yourself and walk up to the wall and drop it when they are not looking. Activate the wall by inspecting it. If you get aggro after you inspect the wall, continue to pass through until you zone into Monastic Cavern, which is just a few short steps away.

4. Follow the path safely to the end (there are no monsters in this part of the cavern). At the end of the path, you will find the Magicite. Click on it for a cutscene. After the cutscene, you will receive a temporary key item: Optistone. Now you may leave.

NOTE: If you are below level 35, do this during the daytime to avoid the bats during the evening times. During daylight, only invisible is necessary in Davoi.

Beadeaux
Two NMs need to be killed to proceed with this mission, fulfilling Mysteries of Beadeaux I and Mysteries of Beadeaux II for the other two key items necessary to access Beadeaux's Magicite. These NMs are De'Vyu Headhunter and Go'Bhu Gascon. To solo these NMs easily and without fear of aggro on the way, Soloable by 50 MNK/THF with Cross-Counters or equivocal job. Otherwise, a larger group will need to go through Beadeaux. In this case, Silencing Potions are recommended, as your mages will be silenced to avoid the "Afflictor" machines scattered throughout Beadeaux. Mages should also bring Echo Drops to remove the Silence effect after the group finishes passing the Afflictors.

De'Vyu Headhunter drops 1-4 Quadav Charms when killed, and Go'Bhu Gascon drops 1-3 Quadav Augury Shells. Be sure to bring some combination of players able to take down level 45 NMs.

Upon entering Beadeaux, hug the left wall until coming to a tunnel. Go down the tunnel, making two right turns to come to a "Mute" machine, which will inflict Silence on the any player that checks it. Turn around and go straight until a T-intersection, then turn right, coming to a room with an "Afflictor" machine, which will inflict a powerful Curse on any player who is not silenced. Take the northern exit from the Afflictor room, and go straight, eventually coming to a spiraling tunnel leading back above ground. Head south, then east. Another Mute is here; refresh your silence status before turning south again, hugging the right wall and passing an Afflictor. There is a ramp at (E-10) that leads to the upper level; take it and cross the nearby bridges across two land-island formations, passing directly above another Afflictor. After the final north-south bridge, you are free of the Afflictors and your mages are safe to use their Echo Drops.

Turning right and heading Southeast will lead to De'Vyu Headhunter at (J-9). Kill this NM, then hug the right wall until coming to Go'Bhu Gascon at approximately (F-6). Note that it is possible, but sometimes difficult, to pull Go'Bhu Gascon from the bottom level, near the entrance to Beadeaux. Continue to run back and forth between the two NMs' spawn points until everyone in the party who needs them has them.

Once everyone has both items, warp everyone back to Lower Jeuno. Report back to Sattal-Mansal and trade both items, one at a time. You will receive the final key items that let you enter the Magicite room of Beadeaux.

Re-enter Beadeaux and hug the left wall, and do not open any doors. Only people under the level of 35 should need Sneak. You will go into the lower level. Take a left turn at the intersection, and you will zone into Qulun Dome. After you zone, just head straight and you will open the door. Inspect the Magicite. After a cutscene, you will receive another magicite, Aurastone. Now you may leave.

Castle Oztroja
Form a full level 45 party (alliance suggested) and purchase several prism powders (at least 2-3 stacks). If anyone is level 40 or below, they must have Sneak and Invisible as bats will still aggro. Head to Castle Oztroja. This is the longest part of the mission and it may take at least 2 hours to finish if too much time is wasted on killing aggro and recasting Sneak and Invisible. If you are high enough level to not take aggro, or have a higher level clear a path, this won't take much time at all. Purchasing a map of this place is suggested.

Head to (I-8) and make sure only one person is standing between the levers. Once the door opens, run inside and go up the stairs.

Note: One lever will land you in a trap pit below which you will need Escape to get out of or you can tab around to find the point to open the secret door and walk back up, but it's a long walk. The other lever opens the door. It changes daily (game time). An easy way to check which is the correct lever you need, have one person stand in between both levers and as you check one, run out from between to clear the door if it happens to open.

When you reach an intersection at (I-8) of the second floor, make a right turn. Ignore the turn at (I-7) and continue going straight, eventually you will reach (G-7) where you will head outside.

You will be at an overpass. Be careful not to fall down. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). For now this is straight-forward. Unless you are level 60+, you will need to have Invisible up at all times. Once you reach an intersection at (H-8), make a right turn and go straight, left at (G-8), the left at (G-9), always hug the right wall. You will find the torch door. There are no more bats once you get to the torch room, so low-level characters will not need Sneak. Clear all Yagudo that are near the torch door, as everyone must light the torch to get through. To light the torches, each person must individually stand between the torches in front of the door; standing off to the side of one torch will result in failure. Once you light a torch, you will automatically go through the door. You may encounter a few more Yagudo just past the door. While passing the door will erase hate, it is still possible to catch aggro through the door.

This part (above) is the part that requires the before mentioned level 45 party. However, it was completed by 4, level 40, players (PLD, DRK, THF, SMN). Just stop in the hall outside the door, have someone or something (in our case, an avatar) get the attention of the Yags outside the brass door, and everyone else runs to the door, opens it, and invis's to the next part.
Once past the door you lit with the Torch, turn right at the intersection of (H-10) and you will find another brass door. Simply click to open it. If any aggro happens, the zoneline is just past the door. Once inside the Altar Room, just head straight as there are no mobs. Target the Magicite and watch a long cutscene. After the cutscene, you will get the magicite, Orastone. Once everyone is done with the cutscene, Warp or have a White Mage use a Teleport spell on everyone.

After all 3 Magicites are obtained Return to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. At the end of the cutscene, you will get your Airship Pass--or 20,000 gil, if you already have an Airship Pass. Now, return to your embassy (in Ru'Lude Gardens) and talk to the person behind the counter. He will give you Rank 5, the Message to Jeuno and 10,000 gil.

You will be unable to unlock new missions once you obtain Rank 5, as Mission 5-1 starts instantly. Report back to your home nation for further instructions.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 5 Bastokan!

RANK FIVE: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: Darkness Rising
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission 4-1: Magicite
Suggested Level: 50+
Title: Archmage Assassin
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank 5-2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: (Optional) Head back to your hometown and speak to your mission NPC who will inform you that you are needed in the President's Office.
You must speak to Naji to get a cutscene and receive the Key Item: New Fei'Yin Seal.

Note - this quest cannot be completed without the New Fei'Yin Seal.

Form a level 50 party. You may use anyone from any nation that has already completed or is currently on Mission 5-1, as it is the same for all 3 nations. Even if you've done this mission before with another nation, you must be on this mission or higher in your current nation to get in (otherwise, you will see "A mysterious force is sealing the platform.").
The location of Fei'Yin is in the northeast corner of Beaucedine Glacier. Upon entering Fei'Yin your party will encounter another cutscene involving Zeid.
Upon entering, head east towards (K-8). At (K-8) you will see 2 dolls. There is a cermet gate on the east wall. Click on this gate and you will zone into Qu'Bia Arena. While in the waiting area, prep up for the fight.
The majority of the mobs in Fei'Yin detect by sound, but there are several mobs that aggro to magic.
The boss is the Archlich Taber'quoan with 6-8 minions. Concentrate on the Archlich and once he is dead you are done. There is a level cap of 50 for the boss and only 6 people (one party) can enter at a time.
Archlich Taber'quoan is a BLM type skeleton with Sleepga II and Freeze, and will use the 2hr ability Manafont.
He is susceptible to most enfeebles including Silence.
Archlich Taber'quoan and his minions can easily be slept by a BLU's Sheep Song or a WHM's Repose, for an easier kill.
After defeating Archlich, a cutscene will take place. At the end of the cutscene, you will receive the Key Item Burnt Seal. Return to Bastok and talk to Naji, in front of the president's office.

Walkthrough: Trade some crystals to activate this mission. (3 stacks is what it took for me.)
After accepting this mission from any gate guard, go speak to the President for a cutscene.
Form a full level 50+ party and travel to Xarcabard and on to Castle Zvahl Baileys .
Upon zoning into Castle Zvahl Baileys , go straight until you encounter the first intersection and make a left. Go down a small flight of stairs and then turn right and follow the left wall and you will enter the Orc section of the castle.
Go through the area to the west again and eventually you will zone into Castle Zvahl Keep.
Once you enter Castle Zvahl Keep, you will have to open several gates, very often in front of mobs that detect on sight.
You will encounter a series of teleport devices. These devices will cancel the Invisible effect after they are used. Once you use the last device, run to the west exit of the map where you will find a zoneline to the Throne Room.
When ready, gather in front of the door. When you enter, a cutscene will happen and the fight begins. Cast the prefight buffs before getting closer.
This fight is 6-person level capped at level 75.
The Shadow Lord has 2 forms. In the first form he will use Invincible at around 50% health. Invincible does not protect him from magic.
Once Shadow Lord starts spamming Invincible, mages need to nuke repeatedly and rest when melee are able to deal damage again.
After the first form is defeated, a cutscene will appear. The second form will show up after the cutscene and does not wait for you to rest.
This form of Shadow Lord will do nothing but a AOE attack but only has 4000 HP and should go down quickly.
Melees should use their 2 hour abilities and Icarus Wing if possible to have TP for their best weaponskill. Mages should cast their Curaga spells.
After this form is defeated, another cutscene occurs. Once the cutscene ends, you will be transported back to the entrance of Castle Zvahl Baileys. Here you will receive the Key Item Shadow Fragment.
If you are repeating the battle, and choose to skip the cutscene, you will be returned to the entrance of Castle Zvahl Baileys.
The Shadow Lord gives experience for a Level 60 mob.
Report back to the President for another cutscene.

Note:
This fight can be soloed by a RDM/NIN or PUP/WAR or /NIN. Taking about 17 minutes for RDM, 14 to 15 minutes for PUP. Also soloable by a 75MNK/NIN with Formless Strikes, taking 6:55.
Also able to be soloed by SCH/RDM at level 73 with little to no difficulty. High staff skill recommended to gain TP and use Spirit Taker during magic invulnerability times. Helix spells used around 51% can greatly help for the first magical invulnerability. Gravity/Bind then Nuke strategy used.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 6 Bastokan!
At this point you will be able to access all non-Chains of Promathia Dynamis areas.

RANK SIX: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: Return of the Talekeeper
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 5-2 Completed
Suggested Level: 55+
Title:
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough: Trade 3 stacks of crystals to the Bastok Gate Guard to unlock the mission.
Alternatively, you can turn in only 4 Lizard Eggs with the quest Wading Beasts to be able to access this mission.
After obtaining this mission, the gate guard will tell you to go to Bastok Mines and talk to Medicine Eagle, who can be found on the left at the top of the ramp down to Ore Street. Position is (H-6).
You must then go talk to Drake Fang who is at (H-6) in Zeruhn Mines next to the boat from Palborough Mines. You will see a cutscene where Iron Eater will approve your mission and tell you to go check out Altepa.
Go to the center of Western Altepa Desert (Airs Rock (Revelation Rock)). Southwest of the west end of airs rock is a ??? at (G-8). Examine it, and the Western Sphinx and Eastern Sphinx will pop.
Kill one or both of the Western Sphinx and Eastern Sphinx.
Recomended party is 10-12 level 60+ players. Also solo'd by many level 75 jobs using /nin subjob.
Western Sphinx and Eastern Sphinx are immune to Sleep and Lullaby.
Only Western Sphinx OR Eastern Sphinx must be killed. The sphinx each pop on top of the poles. Stand behind or directly to the side of one pole to pop. This will agro one and not the other. Both Western Sphinx and Eastern Sphinx agro by sight but do not link. When they are popped, they face one another. This means you can pop and be standing behind one of the Sphinxes after it pops, and pull it safely away from the other. Do not kill the Sphinx you pulled until the other one depops, then you can obtain your Altepa Moonpebble shortly after the kill (You do not need to rush to do this).
Note: There are 3 rocks in the area; 2 tight together, and then 1 a little ways off. The sphinx will pop on top of the two rocks that are tight together. If you wish to pull them singularly, you need to make sure you are not parallel to the 2 tight-together rocks when popping. You'd need to be in-line with them.

After killing the Sphinxes, check the ??? again to get the Key Item: Altepa Moonpebble.
Talk to Tall Mountain downstairs (J-7) in Bastok Mines on Ore Street by the "Restricted Section" in order to complete this mission.

RANK SIX: MISSION TWO

Mission Name: The Pirate's Cove
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 6-1 Completed
Suggested Level: 60+
Title:
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank 7 & 40,000g

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough: Trade 3 stacks of crystals to the Bastok Gate Guard or complete Wading Beasts ten times (trading ten Lizard Eggs) to unlock this mission.
Before starting this mission it is advised to obtain one Adaman Ore for every 6 people doing this mission.
Obtain the mission from any Bastok Gate Guard and be directed to Naji, the guard outside the President's Office, where you will be treated to a cut scene.
You will be sent to talk to Gilgamesh (through the Oaken Door at (K-8) in Norg) where you will get another cutscene. Talk to Gilgamesh until he tells you to retrieve a Frag Rock from Ifrit's Cauldron. NOTE: If you have the Zilart expansion installed then the first cutscene you get is related to that. Gilgamesh will talk about visiting the Chieftaness in Kazham. Once this is finished you must speak to him again in order to activate the mission.
Take the I-5 entrance from Yhoator Jungle to Ifrit's Cauldron.
  • The ??? is near to the entrance, but you still need to be careful. Bees do not agro, but bats and bombs both will. They both check DC at 63 generally, but the gasses can explode, doing over 1200 points of damage to everyone standing around.
From the entrance, head left at the first junction, then take the next right. At H-7, there will be a lava flow with a ??? in the middle of it.
Trade an Adaman Ore to the ??? to spawn Magma (a bomb) and Salamander (a lizard). The bomb drops 6 Rare/Ex Frag Rocks. Each person completing the mission will need one; if more than 6 people need the mission, it will need to be killed more than once.
When you trade the Adaman Ore, you'll see a say "You have a bad feeling about this place." so it's about a few seconds later spawn, not an instant spawn. You may use Sneak when popping to avoid immediately aggroing the lizard, but the bomb will still attack. A SMN or /SMN can Carby pull safely. The person spawning the NMs can easily make the pull by spawning them with Sneak and Flee active, However, if done fast enough even without flee, the lizard will not aggro.

12 people whose average level is at least 60 are recommended for this part.
  • Like Dark Spark, Magma does have a small chance to use Self-Destruct. Caution is advised.
  • Magma drops the Frag Rock and is the only NM that must be defeated. Salamander can be ignored (and is arguably the harder of the two to defeat anyway).
Once everyone has a Frag Rock, return to Norg and trade your Frag Rock to Gilgamesh for a cutscene.
Finally, return to Bastok and talk to Naji for a final cutscene and to complete the mission.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 7 Bastokan!

RANK SEVEN: MISSION ONE

Mission Name: The Final Image
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 6-2 Completed
Suggested Level: 55+
Title:
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank points

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough:
Talk to the Gate Guard in Bastok for the mission once enough rank points are accumulated to obtain the mission.
Talk to Cid in Metalworks to get the mission.
Travel to Ro'Maeve and find the ??? in:
  • D-10
  • E-9
  • E-10
  • E-11
  • G-9
  • I-8/J-8
  • K-10
  • K-11
  • L-10
  • L-7
Clear the area around the ???.
Very highly recommended to clear the area of weapons prior to popping the NMs, and dolls too if you have any mages. Nearby weapons, bombs, and dolls will aggro level 75s and can easily complicate things for a small group.
When ready, target the ??? to spawn 2 NM Golems (Mokkurkalfi). Upon doing so, the ??? most likely will disappear and move to a different location, although it is possible it will reappear in the same spot and not appear to have moved at all.
Similar to the NM fight of Bastok Mission 6-1, it is possible to pop the NMs with Sneak active so that they don't aggro, even though Golems normally aggro by Sight (confirmed three times). You can then pull them with a ranged attack and fight them one at a time. As with other instances of multiple popped NMs, if you claim one and allow the other one to despawn before defeating the one you claimed, the party will still receive credit for the fight and will be allowed to proceed to the next step.
After the golems are defeated, track down the ??? again and get the Key Item: Reinforced Cermet. The ??? will most likely not be in the same position where you spawned the NMs. (The ??? will not move when someone checks it for key item; it will only move when the NMs are spawned.)
You must not leave the zone after defeating the NMs and before getting the key item. If you do, you will have to defeat the NMs once again upon your return. Logging out or receiving Tractor will count as a zone, so beware.
Go back and talk with Cid to get a cutscene.

Notes:
·The ??? moves as time goes, so it may be at somewhere different than the first ??? for the golem pop.
·More than 2 parties of level 60+ is recommended when clearing weapons and fighting the NMs.
·Very resistant to sleep, if not immune.
·If while killing one Golem, the other despawns and the ??? moves, you will get the cermet upon tracking it down and clicking it. You will not have to refight.

RANK SEVEN: MISSION TWO

Mission Name: On My Way
Start NPC: Any Bastok Gate Guard
Requirements: Mission: 7-1 Completed
Suggested Level: 65+
Title:
Repeatable: No
Reward: Rank 8 & 60,000g

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walkthrough:
After receiving the mission, talk to the President.
Next talk to Hilda in the "Steaming Sheep" restaurant in Port Bastok.
Go to Palborough Mines and into Waughroon Shrine for a 6 person uncapped BCNM fight against:
  • Go'Bha Slaughterer (DRK)
  • Ku'Jhu Graniteskin (WAR)
  • Da'Shu Knightslayer (RDM)
  • Sa'Nha Soulsaver (WHM)
It is recommended that you kill them in the order listed above.
If you use Sleepga and go for the White Mage first, he can use Benediction or Curaga to wake the others. So you should bring Sa'Nha Soulsaver to the entrance and kill it there.
Only Bastokers who are on mission 7-2 or who have finished this mission for Bastok before (regardless of current Allegiance), can enter the BCNM.
Return to Bastok and report to the President. At this point you will receive Rank 8, the gil, and the mission will leave your log. However the mission is not yet considered complete.
Take the letter to Gumbah in Bastok Mines who is at (J-7) inside a house on the upper walkway. You may have to speak with him two times to get a cutscene. After the cutscene, the mission will be considered complete.
You could also take the letter to Gumbah before talking to the President, although you will still only receive the reward after speaking with the President.

Notes:
·Can be easily done with a group of 4 75's, maybe even 3 75's.
·Can be trio'd as long as a sleeper exists.

Congratulations, you are now a Rank 8 Bastokan!
