Ranpi-Monpi and the trainee knife

So before I knew what he was I picked to rub his head when apparantly I needed to rub his tummy. Is there a way to correct this? I keep trying to trade him the items and he does nothing. Ill be really pissed if Im screwed forever

You have to talk to him in the present time after talking to him in the past. That's when he'll request those items. A couple of the Windurstian quests involve traveling back and forth between eras.
