Things that are indeed very wrong with FFXI:

1. People who knock any job at any level.

You think I give a rats ass my invites are going to suck 60+? You think I care that Dragoons get the 'end game omg' shaft? More so, do you think the other melee in my group matter to me in the least if I can still skillchain?

You think it matters one iota to me if in a few hour session job b will do a few grand more damage then job a? No, it doesn't. It was a party, and if it was fun then I don't care. I had a entirely craptacular pt today of ls people hanging out. Had a blast. Did stupid stuff.

All jobs get to seventy-five and it's entirely possable to do just about any event with any job. How many of you have seen the 6 x Paladin vs Dark lord video?

Yes, some are better then others at times. The right flavor job at the right moment can be key in this game. Do we have to discuss it for hours on end and knock on certain jobs when you KNOW you'll get one when it's not optimum anyway?

2. OMG NERF PATCH ITEM I FARMED WAS MOVED!

TP gain return got nerf, the game went on just fine. They moved astrals to BCNM, price went up and NOW people want to do Wings of Fury with me. Go figure. They need to start putting some money drops in Creeping Doom now too lol. Ranger got nerfed to all hell and everyone whines, I still plan to play my Ranger even if it becomes the next Dragoon. I play that as well afterall.

On an additional note to the mages who complained about thieves camping 'their' AF coffers. HAAAAA! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA!

3. Assholes

People who steal in-game items, MPK at a claim for an item, steal from a linkshell, act like a general pain in the ass to players, play a high demand job so they can get away with more behavier, and generally ruin the fun others have.

Why? Did someone take a bat to your head to make you think this is good clean fun? You're a sad existance if this is the only notoriety you can ever gain.

4. End game HNM/God obsessed FOOLS!

How long do you camp pop items, fight over HNMS, get MPK'd, de-lvl, spend hours at a time in a game for nothing. For what? A chance at some gil? A item you have to be 70+ to wear? What will you use them for? To get merit points? Unlock a ws? Sure it's nice to say 'oh we killed such and such and I got the BEST ITEM IN THE GAME THAT ONLY THREE PPL HAVE, but look at what you invest for such a paltry reward.

Paltry.

5. Overplaying

I know if I go with this gear instead of this gear I can get 3% more tp an hour and can do +12 dmg over and hour... seriously though, why should I give a flying fuck?

I'll use what I want to use, and trust me, you would need to run a parser for HOURS to tell me the difference. I'm not saying people should go gimp, but debating a +5acc ring and a +4 acc ring? Paying 200k for armor with +2 def then the NQ?

Why has this ever mattered so much?

6. I don't care.

Why haven't you done the proms yet?

They're a pain and I don't get any good gear.

Yeah, but it's new quests and missions, new areas to explore, new things to do you've never done before?

I don't care, I want to get to 75 so I can do gods.

What the fuck? I admit my first encounter with a buggard wasn't a nice one, but what is so wrong with a little fun outside shooting for a goal? Why do we need armor or levels to do something in this game?

How many people here *I want any repliers to acknowledge this if they read my post.* have done something in an rpg... just to see it?

If SE has made one effort towards the developement of an enjoyable game it is that they gave us quests and missions we give a damn about. That aren't just run to point a and get item x.

7. Whine about SE:

You can bitch about a lot of things SE has done to this game, but when has it ever really hurt the things about the game that are most enjoyable. Any job can get a fun party and a good one to boot regardless of any nerfs.

It's not SE's fault a job can't get a party. They may have made reasons to choose another job, but they NEVER made it where you can't have a fun party or have a good time.

You can still do missions, quests, and bcnms to your hearts content. Let's not forget all the events that come along either. SE has always held a dedication to making sure they are enjoyable if time consuming.

Let's face it, we all log a lot of hours, and while we have had some difficulties you can't pin any one thing on SE alone. Not one, but people sure try to complain anyway. As they continue to play this addictive and fun rpg...

8. Missing Out

So many people are missing out on so much fun in this game. It's about your xp per hour, how good your melee is on the dd tier, how much you make farming, what you can burst on an HNM or GOD, or how good your job is at x and y event.

Why, tell me why is this what people consider to be the meat and potatoes of this game?

Give me events wiht friends, parties made for the sake of partying, and not obsessing over end-game any day.

Have at me you curs! I didn't post this to be loved! I posted it to rant!

1. don't forget the people that knock their own jobs. "o, i can't get invites cause i'm this job" "i can't make gil cause i'm that job"

they add to others knocking their jobs. 2way street on this one, people will percieve you the way you percieve yourself.

2. I pretty much agree, i still think that people who aren't RNG will be affected more end game than they think. SE needs to restructure god fights. before i did very mediocre damage on gods. with the patch i heard it is gimped by up to 66%. this affects everyone looking to get the next abj. god equip. or money drop.

3. Assholes =/

4. Endgame is like any quest or mission except there is no starter NPC. the gear you aquire gives you a sense pride as it is most likely the last gear you will need for that job. you talk later down the line about people doing missions and quests, this is the same sort of thing, great community and friendships are born in sky, and the drops greatly affect the performance of the LS.

5. status, people buy the HQ for status.

6. this being my first ever RPG, besides watching a movie called ff7 for a couple hours then handing it over to my brother. I have done a whole lot of stuff just to do it. at the same time i have goals outside of missions and quests. while i enjoyed getting fame everywhere (except windy lol) seeing the stories and doing the af stories for 3 of my jobs. some people just arent interested.

just like how some people only level one job, i don't understand seeing lvl 75, lvl 37, lvl 37, 0, 0, 0, not unlocked, not unlocked, not unlocked. i for the life of me don't get how people don't want to see how other jobs are played, that is one of the fun things to do for me, the other day i played a 74 in sky, first time ever as brd, racked up 5-6k an hour lol. took a while to get my macros with the /equip but i got it and we rolled along nicely.

7. my thing is change, i've been playing video games for a long time and they don't change until they release the sequel or whatever. so seeing the game change midway through my gaming experience is something hard for me to digest. not used to it, don't like it, even when it doesn't affect me(ie NM camping).

8. for some people that is the meat and potatoes of this game. you are imposing a view on someone who likes that kind of thing. there are different people who play this game and will take something different from it. just like they should let you enjoy doing mid-low level quests, allow them enjoy hanging out in sky.

it is true, doing missions and partying with friends is enjoyable. it is also true that i love to see how much damage i do and xp i can rack up /hr. i love to compete, something that has been in my blood forever, discrediting that and saying that this is not what the game is about is wrong.

i wasn't raised on ff and zelda, i was raised on madden and sports games.

Right on Ander and Meeze. I, for one, have this thing for RPGs that I'm not done with a game till I've seen at least 90% of what it has to offer. I've beaten FF7 to every level of completion, with my most recent time record from beginning to end being 23 hours. I've also played that game to the point where playtime was over 100 hours. I enjoyed every minute of it which, by definition, is what a game is for. This is a game. I like doing things for the hell of it, parties that are more fun than successful (just ask Marajade and Sabia about Unut). People in this game have 2 mindsets, one like ours, and one that is bent on world domination. There are grey areas but those two categories are the most common. People either want to have fun, or want to be the best at everything and laugh in the face of the weaker/poorer people (*cough* Vang *cough*). Thanks for making this post Ander.

As for only lvling one set of jobs. Space to hold you gear on FFXI is hard to come by. Warriors have to have what 3 sets of gear for EXP Partys (damage dealing) and one for OMG Tanking / NM hunts / End-Game. This can suck up spots in the Mog House quick. So only having one Main and Sub per char you can maxamize your storage.

Most likely they will have Alt Chars that they play other jobs on. So I would not be so fast to say they have never tried another class. It could just be a diffrent char or account.

As for the rest it is all how you take in the game and how you want to play it. I play to have fun and get all out of the game I can. I do not sweat the little or large things but others do /shrug.

The number one thing I remember is Some people will bitch and complain about anything and everything. They will not be happy unless they are bitching about something. Sucks to be them.

Not to mention 6-18 weapons at any given time just to feel important / cool...

As to doing stuff just to see it - I have a tendency to die an awful lot due to this. Some people play the game to get to the end, some people play the game to explore as much of the developer's creations as they can.

*raises her hand* I do alot in rpgs just to see or explore it hehe i have one promy to finish to see the new areas an dit bugs me but i digress...

anywho the OP's rant was very valid well said too :)

/applaud thread

As i've said for god knows how long, the biggest problem with this game (and like .. every other MMO) is lack of consideration of people for the POVs and or goals of the other players. We're all occasionally guilty of this at one point or another but it's at least good to know some people got over it and have insight enough to bring it up as a huge problem overall without being huge pricks about it.

Personally, I looove DRG haters. Every single one. My first LS hated DRG so much, they wouldn't even help me do the quest. I feed off the DRG hater. Bring your shit on!!!! Incidentally, the finest DRG hater I have ever seen is Cubs: http://www.qcdn.org/viewtopic.php?t=13100&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30

Note to all you DRG haters, if your going to do it, than do it right like he did. That's some good shit!

My last exploratory ecusrsion went something like:
<me> Cool, a Buffalo! Imma fuck it up!
<Hillzpac> Dont
.......
<me> Can you come raise me?
WoOt Those things are cool!

I agree, most people are too uptight about their exp loss to screw around anymore. I invited a person on my "Friend List" to come out with Truegrave, Hillzpac, Nemisis, Uliwela, and myself just to play "Steal the hate from the PLD" I got the OMD0RZ!!1! UR T3H St00PIDZ!!! Come on people, go out and advenure once in a while. There are many other things in this game besides Jeuno, the Auction House, and Sky.

char-broiled? Can I marry you? I have been 47 thf for 8 months and dont care.

Im lvl other jobs (to include rng) farmin NM's (wont tell you the NM) and synthing. Guess what else .................IM LOVIN IT. The game is better now than when I was so hard into lvln. Just started lvl BST, and thats workin pretty well.

As far as lvl 75 and gods .

One of the reasons I quit lvl is because I returned from a deployment and started to play again. Got a party, pulled, and missed an SATA. Oh no  . Any way I continued to get beat down because i didnt know my job...blah.blah.blah, then I got booted. I had stated I havent played in 6th months because of the deployment, but that fell on def ears. I bring this up because of the ass hole part of your post and the exp per hour.

I feel bad for those who cant slow down and enjoy this game for all that it has to offer. I since have not bashed one person in the game (nood or not). If you want to play it that way play it its your $13. I applaud you for your post.

finally, Anderithe posted something with content! I actually agree with most of what you had to say too ^^

Oh and.. I'm one of those people that goes exploring just for the hell of it. Speaking of which, I need to go play in Uleguerand Range. . .

Take me with you! I need to get eveb with that dang Buffalo!

I don't care, I want to get to 75 so I can do gods.

I found this funny coming from a DRG.

Admittedly that particular blurb was from a fake (or perhaps real) conversation, and that line was from the participant who *doesn't* share said DRG's point of view (as further clarified a paragraph or two down), but who's counting?

I found this funny.
