...
As much as Meeze and Garvin dislike me, I think I can safely say:
Thank god im not this guy.
Rufus, you remind me of this guy I knew in 6th grade. He was one of two people that the entire class truly tormented ... I mean, I feel ashamed to even have witnessed the kinds of things that people would say and do to those two. The fact that I, one of those times, actively participated in the cruelty is not something I like to think about. I regret it.
One day, however, this fellow (who I don't blame) decided that if he were to torment the other victim just as harshly, everyone else would welcome him as a peer. He somehow got the idea into his head that if he was busy picking on the other person (rather than making friends with him, which is what I would have tried to do), everyone would somehow "forget" that they were supposed to be equally outcast.
It didn't work. He got tortured twice as hard that day, everyone laughing at him for "thinking he's people." Not only was he outcast from the rest of the class, he had now also succumbed to his tormenter's own cruelty ... and alienated the one person that he might have found some camaraderie with.
I, personally, don't think you deserve the kind of mean-spirited mockery you endure. Nor does Bumblebetuna, for that matter. Sure, you took some foolish courses of action, and popped up just enough to come across as annoying to some people. You tried to come clean about those things, however, and if you still want to hang around here (and if you feel like you've made amends), that's fine.
Still ... the key to redeeming yourself in the eyes of this community is NOT by joining in on the public grudge against another notorious figure. Take the moral from my story, if there is one -- be kind, benevolent, truthful, and helpful, and endure the heat you take in stride. Eventually, your negative reputation might fade a little.
Trying to slip into the crowd while stoning another black sheep, however, will only make you a bigger target. If nothing else, pursue kindness because there are those that do not take that route with you.
Just my thoughts.
