Negro - The original word to describe Nigerians, Brazilians and other cultures (this, unfortunately, was slang-ed into a racist word)
Ni**er - You should be shot for saying this, period. It's a despiciable word..I don't care what you THINK "everyone" says, I guartunee you if you go and say this to a black person's face you'll get at the very least your head bitten off. Some, but still very very few people jokingly use this word towards eachother
Ni**a - Very rarely heard this way of saying it, and even then I don't find it as OK...only heard black people calling eachother it really, and then it's a total joke.



Again, for you to so casually use this word, I assume (directed @ Ratm) that you're either a gradeschool angst-filled "gansta" (wut dawg, lolz), a Retro-Nazi, or, somehow, a person from a place where racism is casually accepted by any race. But doesnt it set up a double standard? i mean if you are using it in the traditional way that slave owners would use it, yes they you are a racisit. but given the common application of it being a term of affection or comroderie, shouldnt everyone be able to use it accordingly?
I mean the word has evolved alot in the last idk 10-15 years or so. its used in almost every rap song, on tv, in movies on the radio; the word has lost alot of its strength when it comes to hate... when a black person says it. and heres the double standard. "whitey cant use this word" and strangely its for "equality". how does limiting someone, on the basis of their skin color, make any kind sence in this day in age? (and yes i know i said nigga' in a post last night) personally i wish ppl would grow up and not use that word at all. but its become such a part of american culture that it cant be stopped.
If i were to refrence someone using the word, say if i were to say this sentence: "Slave owners hundredes of years ago used the word "Nigger" as a derogatory term to keep black people subjagated." would people get offended? should people get offended? i mean i didnt call black people "niggers" under my own beliefe that they are, which I dont believe they are. I mean a few years ago i remember being at a friends house and we were watching behind the music and the group that they were looking at was N.W.A., and the white host said what the acronym ment "Nigga's With Attitude" after that one of my black friends got real pissed that he said that. At the time that it happened, i didnt say anything cause I didnt know how he would take it and i didnt want to spoil the night. But it still makes me wonder why he got so angry. i mean he said what their name meant, what they called themselves. And someone got angry cause a white guy happend to refrence a word that people called themselves? Does this make sence? It doesnt to me? If you called your self a shithead, and I were to say " Hey, dont say that, dont call yourself a shithead..." should the other person stand up and get all pissed and say "Dont you ever call me that!!" well i wasnt calling you that YOU were. Does it still make sence? So why is it such a touchy subject when people use the word "nigga'"? Its not like i dont have a basic concept of the word or what it means or where it came from or what it was used for. its that i dont understand why people still get offended when a person uses it in the same context as it is used in black culture.
Now i know that just because i want everyone to use all words equaly, doesnt mean that everyone will be happy with everyone using that word, but why should any group of people not be allowed to use a word on the basis of the color of their skin? doenst it seem hypocritical?
 
It's basically Black people turning a word with negative connotation into something a bit more positivem and like you said, more of a sign of comroderie. Basically a white person is infringing upon something that black people call their own. I guess it is a double standard, but it doesn't really bother me, and I know damn well not to use that word, not just cause it would piss people off, but just as a sign of respect to let them do what they do. I definitely know what you are saying though. Just like there is BET, but if there was a White Entertainment Television, it would be considered racist. (Even though if you take the Jeffersons off TV Land, you would have the White Entertainment Television lol)
