Has anyone used this? The discussion on the forum there sounds promising, and the price is pretty damn good compared to an X-Fi Platinum. I'm sick of this bullshit crackling and popping issue that the X-Fi's have and want to replace mine.

I think I'm going to miss the 24-bit crystallizer on the X-Fi but if it will get rid of the popping, I'm willing to do pretty much anything.

My speakers don't use digital (Klipsch 5.1) so I'm not concerned about that.

That looks like it supports optical sound....

I've been looking for a sound card that runs optical for my FPS games. My sound card doesnt do justice to getting shelled by artillery in BF2142.

/goes to ncix

Yea Fly im going to add that to my list of upgrades for the next few weeks as I buy my new PC, that thing is fucking amazing looking..

I was thinking of getting the 5500s myself, digital would have been nice. But every time I heard the Klipsch's I just couldn't contain the cream that filled my pants and eventually seeped out onto the floor, effectively drowning me in my own glory-induced semen. I had to have them.

Take note that this does not support recent revisions of EAX. You may want to try BF2142 with EAX2 or EAX3 right now, to get a feel of what the degradation may be.

hmmmm willdo mang. Klipsh speaks are very very nice - Friends uncles shop sells nice high end sets of em and they are very frap-tastic. You should see the beast of a PC im building fly its very semen worthy lol

Oh great, more semen-producing material. I'm gonna need a boat soon.

Specs?

Case looks sweet. I got the CoolerMaster Stacker 101, looks like TT took the design and beefed it up. 11x 5¼" bays right? Has 3 removable HD cubes that each store 3x 3½" disks? Dual PSU support?

You got it mang - The big thing I like about the case is the cooling potential of it. The while front as an intake and using 120MM fans vs the 90MM ones - the top of the case is 62% open with a 90MM fan for exhaust. I like big cases to have lots of room for expansion and easier on the hands.

You have any suggestions for RAM and PSU off NCIX? You really know your stuff ...even though you like amd -_- and I would like your feedback. Im looking at the corsair dominator set currently

I <3 Intel I was GOING to try and go with AMD but....well me and intel will always be together.

It's very lame but the reason I don't like AMD is the way they mark the chips I dont like how they don't mark them in GHZ, it seems they make up some number and just stick it on the chips. lol ; ;

The TPI ratings that AMD uses used to be a semi-accurate portrayal of output. Example, a 2200+ would match a 2.2ghz Intel, 3200+ would match a 3.2ghz Intel, etc.

That wasn't their official scale for rating CPUs though, it was simply a coincidental side-effect. I'm not sure if that still holds true. it is a bit mythical to follow, but Intel's started doing the same - they have the T7200 processor, the T7400, T7600 etc. Those are 2ghz, 2.16ghz, and 2.33ghz respectively (all notebook processors). No idea where they pulled the numbers from, but between CPUs and GPUs I've given up hope of understanding why they name them the way they do and just stick with memorizing the important ones.

Memory, the XMS Dominator sticks are pretty good but you need the right chipset to take full advantage of them. Namely, the Nvidia 680i which your chosen mobo uses. So the XMS Dominator is a perfect match; either the 10000 or the 8888 sticks will do fantastic. The OCZ FlexLC 9200 I think is also excellent stuff, and these 3 kits are pretty neck-and-neck as far as performance goes. If you want the top of the crop, get the XMS 10k sticks.

Yea I have noticed Intel is starting to do that, my pro is the 6400 as you saw. I just like plain and simple readings on CPU's - tell me its clock speed in GHZ or gtfo.

I'm going to have to get a really decent HSF to keep that baby cool under load. Looking at that Zalman beefer fan but 80CDN is A LOT for a HSF. ; ;

I was thinking of going w/the dominator sticks bc I like the passive cooling on them and my mobo got some nice reviews when running on those sticks
