Post here how red mage job can greatly help in low-manning (1-3 people) certain NMs / BCNMs / events that have the reputation to be hard (preferably a worthwhile event, eg money maker or good drop).

I'll start with a classical : Blau Dolch ENM. 2-3 people, rdm/nin kites everything (up to 6 mobs). MNK kills the pets as they pop with whm supporting him (use BLM if you duo). You best friend here is movement speed legs and fast-cast.

I got plenty of other examples : all "The ashu Taliff" assaults with 3, vahzl ENM with 2, duoing a Tinnin popset, soloing the Minotaur ..etc.

:o Hmmm what NM / Endgame/Event doesnt have a use for RDM?

I'll post how I low manned the stone gorget NM with rdm and thf. This is an awsome item for you all rdms (stoneskin+30).

- First: get the pop item from the Satiator NM in promyvion-dem. This Nm isn't hard to reach anymore since they gimped the promy mobs. We managed to kill this using 2 fellow NPC DDs, and using 2Hs. Its easier with more people though.

- Second: pop and kill the NM in promyvion-vahzl. The startegy we used had rdm/nin and thf/whm. It's kinda silly but works: rdm keeps bio2 and poison 2 on it and thf keeps raising him. It works because the NM's depop time is longer than 2 Minutes. Direct meleeing it works with 7-8 people. When the NM is at 1%, THF perfectdodge, sushi, and finish it for TH2. The rdm will loose only 6-7 k exp for the trouble, due to the level cap.

It's not about engame. It's about low manning things. I gave exemples of lv 40 lv 50 events. Why would you do <insert ENM> with 6 when you can do it 3 times with 2 ? That's the idea.

Some of the easiest moneymakers would be skytriggers, wich alot can easily be soloed by rdm. They're great cause the drop is 100% and sofar the game hasnt moved past sky, so there will always be a need for them. Easiest ones are probably despot, ullikummi & zipacna wich all are killed with a simple Dot & kite strat. Zip probably isnt as great a moneymaker as ulli and despot tho. Part from providing the best chakra headpiece, genbu doesnt offer much unique. But only 1 job has moved passed byakkos haidate and thats just when you have a full set of usukane, so the byakko market should provide alot of gil.

i always wondered how rdm would get around the magic aggro in sky and such and since magic pots can use magic shield

I've never really done any serious dot kills on rdm so any advice for dot kiting is appreciated

I'm not quite certain that a RDM can DoT kite Olla solo, if that's what you're referring to, as that's three pots back-to-back and it would get messy. The regular magic pots however are not that difficult to kill if you fight in a safe place.

My only advice for DoT kiting is to learn how to cast on the fly. Feel out your casting times and move before the spell actually executes so not to give your target too much time to catch up and take swings at you. Also, try to get some macro swaps in to bypass your spell animation. If you do that, you will not be caught in spell-lock and will be free to move around with greater ease.

Oh and I found slotting in a few Haste%+ pieces for bind to be helpful. Not too many, you don't want to sacrifice much in lieu of enfeebling stats - just a small boost.

not too savvy with sky in general as I just got into it but i thought most of the area was magic dangerous and i assumed rdm would use ranged weapons to pull them dot kite if possible.

This market has all but crashed >_>

man I've been looking for HQ aern organs in bazaar for weeks, can't find any, and the drop rate sucks with TH4. And I've got like 5 deeds noone wants to buy of course.

Jamal TH1 > THIV, just ask GP

I bet sea can be profitable now with the recent AV kills. How much would you pay for a JoL pop if you were an LS with 7 kclubs ?
5 millions ? more ?

I dont think we'd pay anything at all at the moment, currently sitting on like 12 JoL sets, and you cant really speed through em since you need 2hours, Other shells might possibly pay, but most top-tier shells has probably been sitting on JoL sets since SE said they would nerf AV.

Edit: Its a simple supply and demand issue. Since sea triggers pretty much all are easy to get and you pretty much cant do more then 2 AV's in one sitting if you stretch it alot. So why pay 5M to get a set when you have trouble burning through the sets you accumulate on your own. The drops from AV would be worth well over 5M, and if you where able to speed through AV like skygods or Kirin, people would probably pay the money.

Cactrot Rapido

I finally got a Duelist's Tabard on Friday night, thanks to lolDynamis. Immediately after the run, I suited up RDM and went to Altepa. Rapido wasn't up, so I logged for the night. The next morning I found it on wide scan.

Cactrot Rapido may seem like a very difficult fight, but with prepared equip changes, it's really not.

A few basics for the fight:

1. Haste, Phalanx, Stoneskin, Ichi/Ni, Pro IV, a Tavnazian Taco, and Refresh.
2. Gear sets are extremely important. Low recast for Ichi/Ni and Stoneskin are vital, as well as a damage reduction set.
3. Slow II and Paralyze at all times.
4. Re apply Stoneskin after 2-4 hits, or after 2 crits, or when possible.
5. Poison II with an Enfeebling set, as it will resist the spell without it.
6. Unload 2 or 3 bags of shihei prior to the fight. I didn't do this and as a result...Yeah, I had to take a few hits while getting more shihei.

The pull itself is really easy. Dwindle a Sabotender to low enough HP that you can finish it with a tier I nuke. Sleep it and wait for Rapido. Keep a trigger finger on a tier I nuke and kill the Sabotender when Rapido aggros.

After the Sabotender is dead, re-apply shadows and Slow II/Paralyze immediately. Only buff yourself with Refresh/Haste when you have full Stoneskin and 3 shadows. Haste is more important than Refresh, always cast it first.

The key is to never let it gain TP. Damage reduction to zero it's hits is vital, it will eat through shadows quickly and occasionally right away with a double attack. For this, I included damage reduction with my recast gear. It's funny in my screenshots, I was using a Fourth Mace and Genbu's shield in my recast macro, as I forgot to change to Terra's Staff before the fight. I definitely recommend the Staff instead, it's a lot more reliable than the 3? shield blocks I saw.

Use your head, if Phalanx (or Haste) wears off and you have 2 Shadows left with 8~11 seconds on any Utsusemi spell, Rapido will hit you at least once during that 8~11 seconds, so you might as well cast Phalanx (or Haste) until Utsusemi is ready again.

Without Slow II, it seems it attacks at a delay between 150~200, I can't say for sure, but it's really fast and is capable of double attacking. I use MND+66 from equipment for Slow II and Paralyze. When Slow II would wear off, I would immediately recast it. Now Rapido has slowed down considerably and even comes to a stand still during Paralyze procs.

Whenever 3 shadows are up, switch to Refresh gear. Whenever 1 shadow is left, switch to damage reduction gear.

If you feel confident that you haven't fed it much TP, use Chainspell and Blizzard III until it's dead. I did this at around 15~20% HP remaining.
