Anyone willing to give up some of their good solo spots for RDM/NIN from lvl 40 to 75? :)

Dont solo. Waste of time. IN one level you get Refresh then you are the first looked player in any party, next to BRD that is. If you want to solo play BST

im guessing he want to melee though, so is not getting partys hints wanting to solo.

i'm just soloing while looking for party.... i'm a taru melee is done in parties past 40 now.

Go to the mob database here:

http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/

Depending on how tough of fights you're looking for look for stuff a few levels below your current to a couple levels above. Just experiment and you'll find a range that works for you. I do the same thing when I'm bored but not going to be on long enough for an xp party. More to skill up sword than xp but getting a little of both doesn't hurt. Plus it's just fun. :)

dont melee. EVER. your 1 sword damage still gives the mob tp as if he dealt damage to the tank meaning more annoying ass weapon skills. If I were party leader and you were meleeing I would ask you to stop if you didn't you wouldn't have a party. Meleeing isn't acceptable by a RDM. Hell RDM/NIN isn't special until 74. I would maybe say /whm for na spells. You have Phalanx Stonesing and Blink right?

Oh gawd I missed the meleeing in parties part.

Just don't. Say no to meleeing red mages! Trust me in a couple of levels if you continue to melee you will at best slow your party way down. At worst you will wipe them. Pretty soon you should be so busy with refresh/haste/debuffing/MBing/curing you won't have time to think about meleeing. If you do you're not using your job to it's fullest potential or you should be resting mp.

Meleeing on rdm is fun, but has no place in my opinion in an xp party.

This is the correct answer. Get ready to type "Ctrl+R I'm sorry. I'm busy now" alot...

If i were back in 40 PLDs I would be ticked off. If he is meleeing then he isn't doing something right and it is causing the party to fail somewhere. RDM melee only causes more damage to tank and more cures by whm or pld or more shadows used. Not to forget he is in the 40s he'll be leveling in CN I wouldn't want constant AoE damage spam because mob TP is building slightly faster because of weak damage. Just because Enwater/fire/stone/aero/w/e adds damage doesnt mean your damage is worth being there. Your damage comes from when you cast Dia or you are MBing on skill chain for more damage done to the mob.

All true. Regardless you should be busy enough (especially once you get Haste) that meleeing will be the furtherest thing from your mind. Personally I get too busy keeping straight who is next for haste/refresh and watching for effects that need dispelled and buffs that fall off to think about meleeing lol.

Anyway, if you really like meleeing in party and using magic blu might be a more enjoyable job choice for you.^^ If you're set on rdm, do your parties a favor and don't melee lol.

Agree with Kerowynn (Kero can I see your picture? lol I still laugh at that thread).

BLU maybe your bag over RDM if you want to melee. As I said before you could be missing enfeebles cures nukes dispels refreshes and hastes. If it has become acceptable to melee in parties 40+ hell even maybe 30+ then I wouldn't want to party with newbs and I would be forming with as many veterans as I could.

Um, guys, he never said he was gonna melee in parties; especially past 40

i'm just soloing while looking for party.... i'm a taru melee is done in parties past 40 now.

So basically he just wants to keep up his sword up to date while LFP, i don't see anything wrong with that, on the contrary, it's a good idea...

Basically, my advice is to just go back to a camp you've been to 2 stages back, so for example you're now lvling in CN, go back to the Jungles, some mobs may be EM-T there for you ^^

Cheers

Im going to agree and disagree with this. The reason rdm should not melee because it near impossible carry a melee setup and mage setup at 55-70 lvls, hints the reason rdm miss alot. If you wearing melee gear then your enfebs will not land as well and you most likely lacking the proper amount of mp to substain a party. If you wearing mage setup then you going constantly miss a mob, and your attack will be so low you be hiting 6-7 on the mobs. Also because the role rdm play we have sub /blm or /whm which limit are abilities unlike blu that get sub what ever they want.
That being said the "it build mob tp" is a cop out. I really wish people stop using that line. No matter the person you going put the same amount dmg to kill the mob. While I agree rdm should not melee because of the role the play in exp party, I disagree of the tp slighty faster part.

I can solo very easly as rdm/bst. Don't let them tell you you can't do it. If a party won't let you melee, go find a bst main your level and ask to duo. You might like the duo setup much better than a full out party for xp.

God I remember when I posted that video has everything a bad rdm does

I'm going to dig it up

as far as meleeing goes (for those who care to know)

Stopping...

32+ would be ideal (Dispel)

41+ is recommended (Refresh,Dispel)

48+ is just stupid (Haste,Refresh,Dispel!)

http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/homemade-ffxi-videos/53767-ever-met-rdm-like.html

funny stuff, meleeing just makes the job harder and more stressful in exp than it should be under the short time the mobs are being killed

That's the way I feel about it too.

If you're a lv50+ RDM and you have time to melee then you're probably not doing all you can to help your PT.

If you want to melee knock yourself out, but you have to also keep up on your normal duties, which most melee RDMs don't.
