Ok guys I comprrised this therory a longtime ago and I was wondering how many people might agree with me. And Im totally open to suggestions. So here goes...(Mostly deal with the Refresh aspect of the two jobs)

RDM in party means Pld tank will be better due to the individual Refresh thus not effecting the rest of the pt like Ballad does.
BRD in a pt mean Nin tank is better due to Nin's lacking Mp ballad will not be needed for them. So the Accuracy and Stregth Bonuses serve a purpose to him unlike a Pld where Valor Minuet is just pointless.

This all comes from not having Ballad during fights cause (if your pt knows what they're doing) Ballad during downtime aint worth a shit cause your downtime is short as shit.

Thus I believe if your in a Nin Tank pt Brds are best but if your in a Pld Tank pt Rdm is best.

Note: Not saying either cant work cause I know from experience tht they can Im just stating that Certain Tank+Certain Refresher just be more efficient. (This is just a therory)[/b]

Yes, thank you for double posting this basic knowledge on the wrong forum.

We've been trying out RDM/BRD in our static (Our setup is whm/smn, pld/war, rng/nin, rng/nin and blm/whm) I can say at this point I believe this is why we're doing chain 3s and 4s for 390 - 450 in Bibiki Bay on dhamels at level 61 & 62.

you guys are killing catoblepas at 61? @_@ <,< >.> whats your set up?

We've also been doing rdm/brd in our static for the past 2 or 3 levels (57-60) in areas like Cape Terrigan and Quicksand Caves. The results have been really nice.

I'd love to tank sometime with Carnage Elegy though... {yes,please}

No offense but I find it hard to believe that a party of 61-62s would (moreso - could) kill stuff that people 65-67 exp off of. Catoblepas attack damned fast, and at 63 when our rdm accidently pulled one, was hitting the PLD for 200+ per hit. Not to mention the fact that mages/debuffs would be completely resisted and even with acc/att up spells, they'd all be lacking 5 levels worth of skill in weapons, among other crap...

Most debuffs are resisted. When the Catoblepas go berserk RMD does NOT dispel and the rangers go crazy. WS are hit and miss for rangers with a sc occurring maybe 3/7 times? They are damn tough..But I am telling you...we were doing it. We toss gobs in too. With the RDM/BRD casting refresh and Ballad we're recovering mp at 4 ticks/sec and that's NOT while resting. Hitting chain 5 was pretty rare...we actually only hit it a couple of times. But we would get 300 xp off first Catoblepas in the chain and could easily get 390 on a chain 3.

bah that should say RDM.

I somehow managed to skip the set up you put in your post. :oops:

And yeah I can see the rng killing rather fast thanks to the berserk effect. Though I hear they heal a lot...Hmm <,< Maybe I should try the damn things for a fight and see heh
