Did some playing around with this ability last night. I would have liked to form a full on merit party to see how overall damage is different compared to past parses, but I digress.

First thing is that Ready doesn't seem to have a recast timer. Seems insignificant, but when you consider how quickly some pets can get TP, this is kind of huge. That means as long as you have the charges you can bust out a TP move whenever you want.

This I believe will give us newfound use for the Zoolater hat, which up until now seemed like little more than a neat parlor trick.

On to the meat and potatoes of my observations:

My early testing with 4 jug pets has led me to a few conclusions:

1. Best overall DD is by and large SabreSiravarde. While the Fungaur caps higher, hits for a -little- more damage, and has better TP moves, it cannot use them nearly as often as Sabre.

Seems that SabreSiravarde's strongest move, Razor Fang, is only two charges. This means that it is almost guaranteed your charges will be ready for use when your pet has full TP. Without ANY buffs at all (I don't have any gear that increases pet atk or acc or def) SabreSiravarde was doing 250-550 Razor Fangs on EP mobs in Garlaige citadel every two minutes or so.

Please note I have 3 merits in Beast Affinity, meaning these mobs were probably about DC to my pet.

Carries viability as a DD pet seems to have been increased by quite a bit, now that w can guarantee Big scissors on a regular basis. Same mobs as SabreSiravarde, CC was hitting for about 250-350 damage with Big Scissors.

Seeing as how those mobs were a little on the low end, I decided to try out campaign, and ready did not disappoint. Constant razor fangs for around 200 damage on Alpha Gnole Anders during First Quarter moon, roughly 150-200 damage from Big Scissors on Anders as well.

Fungaur has increased utility, still makes for a great pet and dark spore/silence gas can hit really hard. In party situations I can see Fungaur being extremely useful, the only problem being that unlike Sabre you'll find yourself waiting on that last charge to use Dark spore/Silence gas, and given how often one could use Razor Fang, over time, I could see Sabre putting out more damage.

I plan on continuing testing in regards to the viability of using these pets in various situations given the new ability. I'm particularly interested in some of the other HQ jug pets which have useful moves as well as trying out them out in situations against VT-IT mobs (I'll leave the God/HNM testing to someone interested in endgame).

Hopefully some BST found this helpful :)

Sic Recast merits also affect ready, taking off 2 secs for each charge per level, for a minimum recharge time of 50 seconds when capped.
2 and a half minutes for 3 charges if capped.

Had a chance to try out Amigo in an ENM (Sheep in Antlions clothing). Great overall damage, 1000 needles hit every time, no misses, and for full damage (seems to work like the mob version and not the BLU version which I hear can be resisted).

Also, to correct my first post regarding SaberSiravarde's TP moves, his moves are EXTREMELY cheap, however I was incorrect as to how many charges his moves take. All of them are 2 or under, and if I remember correctly the only one that costs more than 1 charge is Roar.

Unfortunately I'm not in game at the moment, so I can't give exact numbers atm, however I DO know for a fact they are very low cost so it is possible to spam Saber's TP moves whenever he has TP, which is not possible with the other staple jug pets due to the amount of charges required.

Love the post Lecan. Man this is really making me want to come back and try some stuff out.

I had a chance to try out Lullabye Melodia. A most useless pet by most standards, however, this pet I have found is unique:

It is the ONLY jug pet in the game with Berserk as a regular TP move. Also, it only costs 2? charges, I forget, I just remember it being cheap. I digress, due to the low cost of its TP move, this pet would be AWESOME pre-55, especially in party situations where your pet isn't tanking.

For those who haven't read between the lines, this means having a jug pet in your party who has CONSTANT berserk.

On a side note, I'm going to start doing some testing with the usefulness of the Eft pet in regards to situations/fights in which dispel is needed but no RDM is available. Obviously, the Eft pet will not be as reliable, but depending on the situation and how many charges his AoE Dispel move takes, it could be a viable alternative for some situations.
