I've heard from many people for years that if you look at your craft skills right when you zone you can see your skill in things like mining and choco digging. I remember spending over 2 hours trying to do this. Has anyone else been able to get this to work or did I fall for something stupid back in the day? I've yet to find this to be true since I first heard of it years ago.

you can see it best way is to lag out PC like the no sj trick people got print screens and videos of it
 
You dont see specific names, you just see a few blanks. I don't know if they are hidden chocobo digging etc ranks or just placeholders.
 
I remember seeing screen shots of it back in the day when I heard about it. I believe it simply just shows your digging skill, no mining or anything else. I've never confirmed it myself, and it could have been fake, but there was a Screenshot of it floating around somewhere months ago.
 
It doesn't actually show your skill level though. It has shown up as a name in the skill list with a zero beside it, as though it was once going to be included as a normal skill, but it never seems to have been implemented.

there are ways to estimate your chocobo digging skill with your /dig recast. that's about all i know about it.

Well there's always the other 99% of the internet for that. =)
 
I saw it once i was lagging out and my nation changed to sandy from windy and all my skills went to 0 and i saw all the secret ones then my character was all fuzzy and i d/c then i logged back on and it was gone
 
it was patched some time ago, You used to be able to easily see the number of your level for those skills but SE caught wind of it and patched it, now they appear as blanks.
 
That happned to me while coming back from a zone. I was able to see all the spells i could learn.

Sometimes when I zone my inventory shows as 0/65535

I believe this deserves a "lolPS2limitations"
 
Yep I've seen a screenshot of this occuring once someone got off an airship (I belive it was San d'oria, if you wanna test this out).

The screenshot was on KI.

I'll occasionally see spells for subjobs I don't have equipped at the time, like BLM spells when I've got /SMN. Only happens right after zoning, though. If I cancel out and go back to that menu, it fixes itself.
 
Whenever I open up my spell menu as soon as I zone(usually for mazurka) I can see all the spells I've learned thus far. Blue magic, black magic, summoning, etc.
