now, regardless of how some japanese prefer to party w/their own and how there is so much animosity between the two races... i have a few RL japanese friends and they told me that "everyone hates america... yet, everyone is fascinated with our culture... because we're a melting pot comprising of so many other different cultures, yet still be able to live as one on the same soil and be able to still unite when there is an aggressor in our land."

anyone feel the same way?

The funny thing is that nowadays, we dont have to actually DO anything for people to hate us. Personally, I dont think we have enough of a culture and can easily see myself moving out of America one day. I dont hate it, I just need something different.

America was called the "Great Experiment". I think everyone is just waiting to see when that experiment is going to fail. Sad part is I dont think it will be too much longer anymore. You can already see that we are in a decline of sorts. Losing respect around the world, economy is failing slowly but surely (already american currency is becoming more devalued across the world), and a great majority of people dont see it.

I think the truly sad part is that just because people dont like a nation in general, they dont like the people. I have read stories of Americans getting gunned down just for setting foot in another country...kinda makes you not want to travel around the world. Just like I dont judge every Arab I see to be a terrorist, I would hope to not be judged as an arrogant and ignorant American when I begin traveling around the world. Now matter how often we hope for something like that though, something serious has to change before that will happen.

Ah the melting pot thing.... everyone aspires to be the norm and lose more than half of their culture to adjust to a more of a commercial pop-culture way of life.

Canada isnt a melting pot. Way multicultural here (in the greater Toronto area and a few other major cities). Everyone mixes up quite a bit and we all respect eachothers ways of living.

indeed. In parts of winnipeg, you can live your entire life, and speak nothing but french, or german, or ukranian(if i misspelled it, i'm sorry), and have no trouble what so ever.

wow winnipeg is different than toronto....
lets take my neighborhood for example....

both my next-door-neighbors are indian... next to one is white..... next to white is guyanese (i think).... next to guyanese is philipino....... next to philipino is black..... next to black is tarutaru (ok i dont know what comes after.... im not friendly with neighbors beyond that :P)..... and no im not just saying that to prove a point... its true.... except the tarutaru part :P

Yup, Canada has so much culture. Sometimes people say we have so much, we don't know what a true Canadian is. But I think that's a defining point in itself. We take pride in our multi-culturalism.

I will agree though. I don't dislike America. I dislike their government. Unfortunately, I don't see many great things about our government as well.

mostly because toronto is like the "mini-states" And we have people liveing all over the place, but there are certain areas that have a higher concentration of one cultre than another. mostly because the way winnipeg evolved.

I'm from Michigan orginally, and been to canada a LOT as a kid since we lived half an hour from the border... It's nice there, in fact if it wasn't for your durned metric system (90kilomters an hour speed limit wtf?) I wouldnt have been able to tell the difference. Even the accent is very similar. Theres a LOT of traffic between Michigan and Ontario though so its not too surpising. People move across the border for work and stuff every day and many have dual-citizenship. :)
<3 canada

Canada = Cold as shit = No thanks

So sick of the cold. But yea people not understandign other people cultures and ways of life, and not wanting to learn, is the second leading cause of War and hatred. Right after Religion.

But yea most countries do hate us for a variety of reasons... Not sure I can name more then one or two that actuasly like us instead of tolerating our esistence with gritted teeth, cause if they give us shit we could whipe them out.
